I Bankrupted My Husband
Chapter 4
When the executives saw my bloody face and the rage in my eyes, they began muttering amongst themselves.
“Wait a minute. What if Sienna’s actually the real wife? So, Amy’s the mistress? Wow, that’s messed up.”
“Yeah, look at her. She doesn’t exactly seem crazy.”
The whispers grew louder as Edwin’s face went pale.
I did not want to drag this out anymore.
“Get me to a hospital. If I survive this, I’ll pretend today never happened. We can settle—”
Before I could finish, Beatrice grabbed a shard of glass from the floor and drove it deep into my back.
A sharp pain shot through me. Then, it felt like a floodgate had opened.
Blood gushed from the wound. Pain took over my entire body, tearing through every nerve.
“You’re buying stories from a lunatic? And you call yourselves smart people? Let me set the record straight! My son and Amy are legally married!”
She grabbed Edwin and Amy’s certified copy of their marriage certificate from the center table, held it up for everyone to see, and then threw it in my face.
In an instant, the tide turned. Everyone took Edwin and Amy’s side. I was just a crazy woman.
However, when I saw the registration date on those certificates, I lost it.
They got married one month after Amy joined the company.
This meant I was officially the “other woman.”
Those two had been seeing each other behind my back all along. It all finally made sense.
No wonder Edwin never complained about me spending all my time in the lab.
I actually thought he was being considerate! It turned out he was too busy being considerate of another woman.
Intense emotions churned inside me. I felt like I was being crushed.
A smile crept across my lips. It grew wider until I coughed up blood. Blood sprayed from my mouth.
My blood vessels were rupturing inside me. Edwin flinched and started to walk toward me.
“Sienna, I—”
Amy’s gaze flickered with malice. She blocked Edwin, knelt before me, and burst into theatrical sobs.
“Sienna, please just stop this. What do you possibly gain by destroying Edwin?”
Then, she leaned in close and whispered in my ear, “He made the first move, you know. While you were out there killing yourself for this company, we did it in your office.
“Oh, and you know why you never got pregnant? I put a lot of effort into those supplements he’s been giving you over the past two years.”
People might not see her face, but I could see the bottomless malice in her eyes.
At that moment, I forgot the torment of my hemophilia. I only wanted her to experience my suffering.
“Amy, you’re so dead!”
I grabbed her hair and slammed her head toward the floor.
Amy immediately started screaming for help.
Edwin snapped into action and kicked me squarely in the chest.
My blood vessels, which were already fragile from hemophilia, finally gave way. Blood poured from my mouth in steady streams.
Pain tore through me. Blood filled my throat, making it hard to breathe. My whole body shook uncontrollably.
However, what terrified me even more was what Edwin said next.
“How dare you hurt Amy?! You had this coming!
“Guards! Smash her hands. Make sure she never uses them again!”
“Edwin, are you trying to ruin me?!” I screamed at the top of my lungs.
Edwin’s eyes burned with madness as he replied, “You brought this on yourself!”
Before I could say anything else, the security guards on site pinned my hand to the floor and kept grinding it with their heel.
The back of my hand turned into a bloody mess.
I gritted my teeth and said, “My father is not only the silent owner of Skyreach Technologies, but he’s also the head of Stellar Research Institute. If you dare to—”
A burst of laughter erupted around me.
“That’s a good one! Silent owner? You’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel, huh?
“She obviously has no clue that Stellar Research Institute is one of the top research centers in the world. As if a lunatic like you could ever be connected to something like that!”
“And she calls herself a researcher? She belongs in a sewer!”
I was utterly consumed by pain and despair.
I could barely speak at this point. “No, it’s true. My father really is—”
Before I could finish, Edwin roughly covered my mouth. He leaned down and looked at me mockingly.
“Your father has been sick for a long time. He’s probably already gone by now.
“Don’t count on him saving you. You’ll be lucky if you don’t end up planning his funeral instead.”
Several security guards grinned maliciously as Beatrice dragged over a large iron hammer. She sneered.
“Let’s see you spread your lies now!”
However, in the next second, two gunshots rang out. The loud bangs drowned out every voice in the room.
Squad after squad of armed soldiers burst through the doors and swiftly took control of everyone.
In the dead silence that followed, the voice of my father, Albert Murray, thundered with fury.
“Anyone who touches my daughter dies!”
