Chapter 1

Sky

I hold my mouth shut with my hands as I shiver watching the horror unfold in front of me.

Secluded in such a dark area had hidden me from participating in the trauma of my life but my eyes were not shielded from it as I watched it all unfold.

Standing in the room was five men, four of them dressed in black while one of them, tall and husky wore a grey pant and a black shirt, his build was bigger despite being hidden under that oversized shirt. A couple of inches taller than all the men in the room, it was easy to know he was the leader of the group.

Right in the middle of them was the Klaus family, his wife and his 24 year old daughter who was the same age as me.

"Do you have any idea who I am?" Mr Klaus demanded, his breathing heaved.

His eyes daring as he stared at the men before him.

"I wouldn't be here if I didn't" the man replied, he leaned on the wall with his left leg raised up. A smug look on his face as he flicked through his fingers.

"How dare you come into my home?" Mr Klaus yelled. His voice high pitched annoying the man in front of him.

He pulled off the wall and walked closer, a slap to his face was enough to make me jump.

He had just slapped Mr Klaus. He grabbed a fistful of hair raising his face to his.

"You don't seem to grasp what is going on here?" He breathed out.

"I could have you killed"

The man moved away from him and then came back with speed knocking his jaw with his knees, Mr Klaus fell with a heavy stud to the ground. As an average man with a rounded stomach, he bounced like a ball on the floor.

Blood dripped from his nose and mouth, he rolled to the side as he coughed out on the ground.

He slowly sat up to face the man in front him, "What do you want from me?" He asked.

"Revenge" the man answered, his eyes daring and mysterious. There was a familiarity in the way he spoke, like he had known Mr Klaus for a long time.

His wife and daughter were being held down by those men, he knelt in front of them like a shield but there is not so much he could do when he was at the mercy of this man.

I gulped down as I gazed into his eyes, I have never seen so much hatred and resentment, my skin crawled and I could feel the darkness envelop me. I dared not to make a sound, I could never face a man like him, I would be dead in seconds.

"Please spare my family" Mr Klaus began to plead. He probably realized that he was not going to make it out alive, he was no match for the man. I could feel the fear in his voice as he spoke. He had no one to save him, he was all alone.

The man leaned down a bit and grabbed his Adam's apple,

"Did you think you could deceive me and get away with it?

I served you for years, I gave you a chance to come clean to me but you decided to use me" the man threatened.

As I sat in the darkness, I wondered whath meant by that, I never knew Mr Klaus as a deceiver, he was a very honest man. He had men at his beak and call but he was never violent, not that I knew him to be.

"I am sorry" he began begging, pleading on his life, wishing and praying that he and his family would not be hurt.

A shrilled laugh filled the room, it was dark and filled with evil thoughts,

"Tie him up" the man ordered.

Mr Klaus struggled with two men that held him but for a man who was short in stature with a protruding stomach and a bald head, he was like a potato thrown on a chair, soon he was tied up and unable to move.

"I gave you the chance to walk away, to avoid all these but you chosed to look the other way.

You know I don't give second chances"

I was getting more confused by what was going on, if Mr Klaus wasn't guilty considering the type of man I knew he was then why was he begging or could he have been in the wrong?.

Kayla has been quiet ever since, wrapped in her mother's arm who was shielding her from what they would do to her father.

"Please forgive me" Mr Klaus pleaded.

"Hmm" he breathed out picking something from the dinner table, I couldn't figure out what it was until he got closer to Mr Klaus and stabbed him in the eye.

It was a Fork.

My body began shaking and I tried so hard to hid my hasty breaths, watching blood gush out from his eyes and his screams of agony, I couldn't bare to look at him. How could a person be so wicked to do that to anyone.

"Now with one eye, I want you kill your daughter, let's say your vision was blurry and you didn't see her and shot her by accident.

No, not Kayla, I thought to myself. Kayla was my best friend, she was the closest thing I had to a family. I watched them take her out of Mrs Klaus care, they held her still making sure that she wouldn't move a muscle.

The man moved closer to Mr Klaus, he positioned a gun in his hand and raised his arm up to Kayla's head.

I wanted to run out, I wanted to save her but I was just a weak and defenseless girl who couldn't move because she was terrified.

Bang, came the gunshot and Kayla dropped to the ground dead with a bullet hole to her head. I could see her staring straight at me, it was like I could hear her last words to me.

"Found you"

An hour before her death, we were playing hide and seek while Mrs Klaus made dinner, I hid in a closet by the corner of the room while she searched everywhere for me, it was my favorite hiding spot and not once has she ever caught me there. Everyone knew about my spot except her.

Mrs Klaus screams woke me from my thought, she had been pleading with them ever since to spare Kayla but they didn't listen to her and held her down. She held her daughter in her arms, shouting and crying.

"Kill me" she yelled at the man.

Her family was already taken from her, her only daughter laid lifeless in her arms, she couldn't deal with it anymore and wanted her life to end sooner so that she could join her daughter in the afterlife.

"Do you hear that?, even your wife wants to leave you after you had the audacity to kill her only daughter.

Shame on you, how could you be such a wicked father" the man teased Mr Klaus whispering those vile words into his ears.

Strangely Mr Klaus believed it, he believed that he was the one who killed his daughter, "Honey I am sorry, I didn't mean to do it" he cried out.

He had totally forgotten about the pain from his eyes and was more focused on the pain in his heart, the emotional pain.

"Kill me" Mrs Klaus kept on pleading and screaming.

The man sat on the sofa spreading his legs wide open,

"I am considering giving you a second chance"

Mr Klaus slowly turned to him, confused why he would be getting a second chance after he had killed it daughter.

"Yes, it is true" he lifted his hands in the air showing his sincerity and change of heart.

"But you will have to do something for me, can you do it?" He continued.

Mr Klaus nodded his head in agreement, anything to spare his life at the moment but what about his daughter?.

"Shoot her, put her out of her misery and I will walk away and leave you alone for the rest of your life"

The room fell silent as Mr Klaus was lost in great contemplation,

"If you don't do it then I will kill you and your wife, you cannot blame me for your child, you did that.

But If you do kill your dear wife then you will be set free" he explained further and silence once filled the room again.

This man was sick, he was a murderer, he was terrifying, to hell with him.

After five minutes, Mr Klaus came to a decision, I could see his hand lifted up, raising the gun towards his wife.

"I am sorry Honey" he said and pulled the trigger.

"Son of a bitch" the man cursed after escaping a bullet that grazed his arm, if he wasn't fast enough then the bullet would have gone straight into his heart. Mr Klaus had made a last minute decision to shoot him instead of his wife but because of his fast reflexes, he missed his target.

Several shots were fired and Mr Klaus and his wife were both dead, I had just watched the massacre of a whole family and it shook me to the core, my face was now dry from all that crying and my mouth was sore from being clenched together against its will. I couldn't move an inch, the hairs on my body stood in sync.

All I wanted was for the men to leave the room and I could finally run for my life.

"Clean this up" the man ordered and it dawned on me that they would be there for a few more hours trying to get rid of the bodies. A few more hours

They could find me in minutes if they decided to search around. My thought were a ramble, since all the previous victims were dead then I might as well be the next victim, I didn't want to die.

Slow and steady footsteps began approaching the closet, my heart raced faster than the beatings of a drum. It was literally out of my chest, I moved backwards quietly to hide myself when he stopped right in front of the door and turned his back to me.

I let out a sigh of relief after almost being caught when the doors opened wide revealing me to five hefty men in the room who were surprised to see me.

"We got another one" the man picked my fragile little body on top of his shoulders as he strode towards the man in the grey pant. I tried to struggle with him fighting and kicking him but I was a mere chopstick and he could break my bones easily if he wanted to.

I was thrown down harshly at his feet, I turned forward only to be met face to face with him. My hands were shaking and breaths became heavy again, more faster than when the man approached me. His eyes were green and dark, It was like staring at death directly in the eye.

Horrifying.

"What do we do with you?" He spoke tilting his head a bit. I try to avert his gaze but I was scared that he might kill me if I dare blink.

"Please don't hurt me, I will do anything you want me to, I will not tell anyone anything. I swear on my life, I don't want to die please" I pleaded, it was the least I could do in a situation like this. After all that I had seen, I knew I was nothing to him than just another body that he could drop dead. I closed my eyes hoping and praying that he would spare my life.

"Anything?" I hear him say and I open my eyes immediately. Was he accepting my offer, was he going to spare my life. He was already standing in front of me, I had to tilt my head backwards a great deal to catch a glimpse of his face.

"Yes anything" I nodded my head.

His rough hands touched my face and then caressed my lips before he squeezed my right nipple in his hand.

I knew exactly where this was going but it was the price to save my life.
