Chapter 3

TWO YEARS LATER:-

ADAM'S POV:-

I came back home after a long time. It had been so long since I had met my parents. I was the youngest child of my parents. That's why my parents loved me more than they had loved the other siblings of mine. My siblings were jealous of me. That's why I decided to stay away. I am Beta of the Blue Moon Pack. The Alpha trusts me more than his life. I had to beg my Alpha every time I visited my parents. I knew they just couldn't live without me.

I entered the house, it was quite around. I haven't witnessed it quite ever in my life. I didn't talk to anyone. I went straight to my parents room. I knocked at the door and waited for my mother to invite me in. But my mother didn't reply. I used my super hearing sense. I heard her sobbing quietly and my father was cooing at her. I opened the door and both snapped their heads towards me.

They both stood up as they saw me. They came to me and hugged me. I hugged them back. I had missed them both. But because of my responsibilities as a Beta, I couldn't live with them. "Thank God you are here Adam. I didn't know what to do in a situation like this" My mother whispered softly.

"What do you mean, mother? Is everything okay?" I asked worriedly. I knew something was wrong. It was written all over their faces.

"Someone abducted our Annie. No one is doing anything to bring her back home. Please do something." My mother said and my heart sank in the pit of my stomach.

"How did that happen?" I asked.

"Skylar again took her shopping to carry her bags. She came back alone. I asked her about Annie and she carelessly told me that someone abducted her on their way back home. I am so worried, Adam." She replied and started crying again.

"Don't worry mother. I will find her." I replied and exited their room. Anika and Skylar are sisters. Daughters of my older brother. But they both weren't treated equally. Two years ago, there was an accident. Anika saved about fifty lives but in that accident, she got her face scarred hideously. But that's not all. Skylar was born with the silver spoon in her mouth. She was born with the wolf that was expected as the future Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack, as an enchantress had told her parents.

They were told that Skylar will be the future Luna. So everyone treated her like a princess while Anika was treated like a slave. She didn't even have her separate bedroom. I gave her my room. That poor kid is just punished for something good she had done.

I knew it was useless to ask anything to that little brat Skylar. So I decided to go and asked the driver who had taken the girls shopping. I went to the driver who was playing cards with the other drivers. Seeing me, they all stood up and bowed their heads. After all, the Beta is most respected after the Alpha and his Luna. "Who had taken Anika?" I asked in an angry tone.

"Forgive me Beta Adam, but I haven't seen him. It happened when I wasn't around." He replied. I gritted my teeth over his irresponsibility. He and all the other drivers were ordered to keep the girls safe. But he had failed.

"Weren't you ordered to keep them safe?" I asked angrily.

"I was only ordered to keep Luna Skylar safe, not that hideous creature." He replied with a disgusted face. I would have ripped his throat out and he knew that as well. Because in the next second he was licking my shoes and was begging for forgiveness.

"If I see a single scratch on her body, you will be locked with the dogs for ten days. And more than one scratch will multiply your punishment." I said and walked towards the gates of the mansion. As I reached the gates, a very familiar scent hit my nostrils. I frowned and sniffed the air. I smiled when it was confirmed that it was him. It was Ethan.

"So you caught me again, kid." He said and I went to him. I hugged him.

"I need something that belongs to Anika." He said and my eyes widened. I quickly recovered from the shock because I knew he could read minds.

"That's not because I can read minds, but because Master Dalton had sent me to save Anika. We have to hurry." He said and I nodded my head. I quickly went back to my room and grabbed the bunny I had gifted her on her 7th birthday. She always kept it close to her chest. It is the only toy she had. Because she never showed it to anyone. Or Skylar always takes her toys away.

I gave the pink bunny to Ethan. He started reciting a spell. In a minute, the bunny started floating in the air. We both hopped into his car. That's when I noticed he wasn't alone. He came with a very stunning blonde woman. The bunny started moving and Ethan started following it.

In a few minutes he parked the car in front of an abandoned warehouse. We all hopped out of the car and followed the bunny. I could hear her cries and her begs. She was begging someone to leave her alone and not to do whatever they were doing. As we entered the hall I saw that poor child into a cage. The rogues were pulling her hair to trim them with their claws. I and Ethan ran to save her but got trapped. An enchantress came, grinning mischievously. She must have cast a spell to bind us. She started laughing hysterically while that poor kid was crying.

I suddenly looked at the blonde woman. The spell didn't work on her at all. She ran towards the rogues and before the enchantress could understand what happened, she decapitated both rogues in just one easy swing of her sword. I looked at Ethan who had a proud grin plastered on his face. He signalled me to look down. I looked down and found the boundaries were burning. "Her blood can undo any spell she wants to undo." He answered my question and grinned. I lunged myself at the rogues who were about to attack Anika and the blonde woman. While Ethan grabbed the enchantress by her throat. He ripped her throat out with his claws while I killed each of the rogues who dared to hurt my little princess.

The blonde woman freed Anika and carried her in her arms. She cooed to Anika and Anika stopped crying. Anika looked at me and opened her arms for me to carry her. I smiled and carried her. She went to the dead enchantress and tore her bag. She found two envelopes in it. She put it inside of her pocket.

"Who is she?" I asked.

"She is my soulmate, Calla Davis." He replied. We all exited the warehouse. I grabbed Annie's bunny and gave it to her. We all went to Ethan's car. We all hopped into the car. Ethan recited a spell and snapped his fingers twice. In a few minutes, the warehouse started burning and Ethan drove away. He dropped us back at my parents mansion. I stepped out of the car with Annie sleeping peacefully in my arms.

"You two can have a future." He said but before I could say anything, he drove away. I shrugged my shoulders and made my way towards the house. My little angel was sleeping peacefully and I needed to take her back to her room.

I smoothed down the silver ceremonial dress one last time, my fingers trembling slightly against the simple fabric. It wasn't the elaborate gown that Sophia would likely wear, but it was the best I had—a hand-me-down from my mother's youth, carefully preserved for special occasions. Today was certainly special. Today, Alexander would finally announce our courtship to the allied packs. "You look beautiful, Luna," Rose whispered from her bed, her voice thin but her smile radiant. At thirteen, my sister's wolf-sickness had left her too weak to attend the ceremony, another cruel reminder of our family's fallen status. "I wish you could come with me," I said, sitting beside her on the bed. I pulled out the small leather pouch of protective charms I'd gathered—tiny moonstone beads, dried wolfsbane flowers, and silver thread. "Then I'll be there in spirit." Rose turned, presenting her back to me. "Braid them in?" I worked the charms into her hair with practiced fingers, weaving protection and love into each strand.

My birthday had never been a big deal to Marcus, but eight years together had taught me to create my own joy. I'd left work early, planning to surprise him with the dinner reservation I'd made at Crystal Moon, the upscale restaurant in the neighboring pack's territory. I hummed softly, fingering the mate mark bracelet on my wrist—a silver band with our initials entwined that Marcus had given me when we completed our mate ceremony. The memory made my heart flutter, though the flutter wasn't as strong as it once was. My wolf had been unusually quiet lately, something I attributed to stress from my job at the pack's community center. "He'll be so surprised," I whispered to myself as I pulled into our driveway. The pack house was quiet this afternoon, most members at work or training. Perfect timing. I slipped my key into the lock, careful to be silent.
