His Rejected Luna: The Lycan King's Vengeful Mate

When I caught my fiancé and stepsister scheming to steal my mother's inheritance, he rejected me publicly. Fine. I walked straight into a contract with Caden Sinclair, a man who later bandaged my wounds and whispered that my mother had told him twenty years ago her daughter was worth finding. My stepmother wore my mother's heirloom—I took it back. My father tried to declare me insane—I held proof his wife paid to have my mother killed. And now, under the moonlight, my shadow turns into a wolf. You spill my blood? I'll take your life.

Chapter 2

Audriana POV:

The porcelain mug was barely cold before my personal satellite phone shrilled against the desktop.

The screen displayed an old family crest. Desmond Sullivan. My father, the reigning patriarch whose word was law within the Sullivan hierarchy.

I tapped speakerphone. "father."

"You have disgraced this bloodline," Desmond's voice arrived like gravel tumbling down a dry well. There was no inquiry regarding my health, no question of what had transpired in VIP Lounge 3. "Marcus Black called me ten minutes ago. Gabe has taken Hailee under his protection. Your rejection is already circulating through the council registries."

I leaned back in my ergonomic leather chair, keeping my heartbeat even. "Gabe was orchestrating a fraudulent takeover of my mother's estate, father. I have verifiable evidence—"

"Silence!" the old man barked. "I care nothing for your petty squabbles over ledgers! The Sullivan family needed that Blackwater treaty. Hailee understood her duty; you allowed your pride to fracture an alliance." He paused, his breathing shallow and brittle. "Pack Elder Vance from the Northern Ridge territory has lost his mate. He requires a capable widow to oversee his estates. You will sign the preliminary transfer agreements by noon tomorrow and prepare for travel."

My fingers tightened around the edge of my desk. Vance was a seventy-year-old tyrant whose previous two mates had died under mysterious, violent circumstances.

"Vance is a brute," I said flatly. "And I am not pack chattel to be traded away to cover Gabe Black's breach of contract."

"You were dumped on the floor of the Registry Hall!" Desmond snarled. "What else do you imagine you are worth on the open market? You obey my directive, Audriana, or you will find yourself declared an outcast before the sun sets."

"Try it," I whispered, and terminated the connection.

I stared at the blank screen for three seconds, exhaling slowly. He wasn't simply cold; he was actively attempting to eliminate me before I could challenge Hailee's legitimacy.

A sharp knock sounded on the connecting door. Maya slipped inside, her tablet clutched tightly against her chest, her young face drawn with tension.

"Audri," Maya whispered, closing the door and throwing the manual latch. "My roommate works in corporate HR upstairs. She just flagged an urgent inquiry from your father's legal team. Desmond is petitioning the corporate board to suspend your executive clearance. They're claiming you suffered an acute psychiatric break following the broken mating bond."

My jaw clenched. "They want me legally incapacitated."

"If they file for emergency guardianship under pack conservatorship statutes, your personal authority is frozen," Maya said, her voice shaking with outrage. "They can seize your physical access to the building, your trust dividends, everything. They're trying to bury you before you can even hire an outside attorney."

"They're moving faster than I anticipated," I murmured, my analytical mind immediately calculating trajectories. "Gabe knew I wouldn't roll over. He told Desmond to cut my legs out from under me."

I pulled my personal laptop from my safe—an air-gapped machine with no connection to the Sullivan corporate servers. I opened a small, independent browser window routed through a local credit union.

The screen flickered, displaying an account balance: $342,180.

It was my operating cash—the minor, unmonitored royalties I had skimmed from small freelance consultations, enough to survive for six months in hiding. But Hailee's words echoed in my mind like a siren: She thinks she hid the Aura design royalties behind seven shell companies.

They knew about the offshore accounts in Grand Cayman. If Desmond petitioned for conservatorship, pack auditors would comb through every international banking liaison tied to my social identity. If they froze those accounts before I could liquidate or relocate the assets, the Aura empire would be trapped in probate court for decades.

I didn't just need money; I needed a legal bunker. I needed a fortress impenetrable to pack conservatorship laws.

Under Alliance law, an unmated female was subject to the patriarchal jurisdiction of her ancestral pack. But a mated female fell exclusively under the legal sovereignty of her husband's house.

I reached into my blazer pocket, my fingers brushing the thick, velvet-textured black card left by the stranger in the corridor.

Caden Sinclair.

The Sinclairs did not answer to regional Alpha councils. They were a titan lineage, old money and untraceable power that sat at the pinnacle of continental commerce. Nobody knew what position Caden held in the family hierarchy, but his presence in that hallway had bent the atmospheric pressure of the building itself.

I picked up my disposable cell phone, punched in the embossed digits, and waited.

The line clicked on the third ring.

"Sinclair," the baritone answered. No pleasantries. Just that low, arctic rumble that sent an involuntary ripple through my wolf's spine.

"Mr. Sinclair. It's Audriana Sullivan."

Silence hung on the line for a measured beat. "You took longer than I anticipated, Ms. Sullivan."

"I have a counter-proposal to whatever transaction you had in mind," I said, my voice crisp, professional, and devoid of the trauma currently gnawing at my marrow. "I don't need charity, and I don't need a protector who treats me like a liability. But I require a binding alliance that nullifies Sullivan pack jurisdiction."

"And what, precisely, do you bring to my table?" Caden asked, his tone cool, assessing, yet vibrating with latent power. "I do not collect refugees."

I leaned forward, lowering my voice. "The private Zurich auction last November. The platinum celestial cuff, encrusted with black diamonds and raw starlight quartz, purchased by the Sovereign Trust for forty-two million."

A distinct pause materialized on the other end.

"I know the piece," Caden said softly.

"The anonymous master designer who created it goes by the name of Aura," I said, laying down the first corner of my cards. "And she is currently sitting at an unmonitored desk in Midtown, looking for a corporate sovereign who knows how to keep his mouth shut."

Another beat of silence. Then, a low, dangerous sound rumbled through the receiver—something that sounded startlingly like dark amusement.

"Tomorrow morning. Eight o'clock sharp," Caden murmured. "The Sinclair Tower, seventy-second floor. Don't be late, Ms. Sullivan."

The line clicked dead. I looked up to meet Maya's wide, questioning eyes.

"Pack our files onto cold storage drives, Maya," I said calmly. "We're moving up."
