Chapter 5

My spirit followed Enzo home.

After that, Enzo never attended any gatherings again, nor did he look for Charlotte. Aside from handling some pack affairs, he locked himself in the house.

He only did two things at home—drink and try to contact me.

"Lynn, hurry home. Didn't you want to go watch the moon with me? I'll go."

"Lynn, where have you been? Don't test my limits like this."

"Lynn, you actually dare ignore my calls? Do you really want me to reject you?"

"Lynn! If you don't come back soon, I'm throwing out all the flowers you planted!"

He sent me hundreds of messages like this every day. He acted like the devil—at first, he tried to lure me back with promises, but when I still ignored him, he started threatening me.

But I still never responded.

Even so, Enzo didn't give up. He thought I was just throwing a tantrum.

He kept wrecking things at home. Not only did he throw out my flowers, he also destroyed the nursery I had carefully prepared—the baby clothes and toys inside were all torn, and he tore off two wheels from the stroller.

Every time he ruined something, he'd take a photo and send it to me, as if expecting me to feel heartbroken and rush back home.

But it was all useless—even if he tore the house down to rubble, I didn't give him a single response.

On the tenth day after my disappearance, a drunken Enzo seemed to come up with a new idea. He went to the bank and had all my bank cards frozen.

"Lynn, if you still want money, you'd better get back here quickly! Is this how a Luna treats her husband?"

Still, there was no response from me.

It wasn't until the 100th day of my disappearance that Enzo finally calmed down. He put on his coat and went to find Charlotte.

Charlotte seemed pleasantly surprised to see Enzo, but her expression turned sympathetic when she opened the door and saw the disheveled, booze-soaked mess of a werewolf.

She took Enzo to get a haircut, a shave, and new clothes—she groomed him from head to toe. He finally looked like a noble Alpha again instead of a vagrant.

Enzo numbly followed her arrangements without saying a word. He just kept taking photos of himself and posting them on social media.

After that, they went shopping for Charlotte—bags, shoes, jewelry, and even a car. They posted over a hundred affectionate updates, as if wanting the whole world to watch.

As the Alpha of the Redmoon Pack, Enzo was an online public figure. Many people liked and commented on his photos.

Most of the comments were full of admiration and congratulations, but one in particular stood out glaringly.

"Congrats! The trash finally sorted itself and is now in the same trash can."

The person bold enough to comment that was my best friend, Sofie Kinsley.

Clearly, Enzo posted these photos to provoke me. He expected me to get jealous and come back to stake my claim on him. He had used this tactic before, and I had never let him down—every time, I would immediately question him in anger.

But this time was different. Even when people started complaining about him being all over public feeds, I still didn't say a word.

He kept scrolling through his phone with a grim look until he saw Sofie's comment.

That comment seemed to trigger something in him. He froze for a moment, then abandoned the smiling Charlotte and rushed to Sofie's front door.

"Sofie! I finally get it. You're the one hiding Lynn! This is a trick—something you two planned together to mess with me. Come out and face me!" Enzo shouted.

He roared into the door with a piercing gaze, as if he wanted to break down the door and see me hiding inside.

"Alpha, are you mentally ill?" Sofie yanked the door open and stared at him coldly. "If you are, go to the pack's hospital. Don't come here and throw a fit. Even Alphas can't harass pack members like this."

Enzo barely registered her words. His eyes were faintly bloodshot—a sign that he was shifting. "Give Lynn to me! She has to apologize to me herself, or else I'll tear your house apart!"

Sofie almost laughed out of fury. She grabbed Enzo by the collar and shoved her phone screen into his face.

On the screen was a horrific and bloody, but very clear photo.

In the photo, a pregnant woman lay curled up inside a pit. The pit was filled with long, sharp silver spikes that had pierced her limbs, heart, neck, and swollen belly from below.

Blood covered her body. She shielded her belly with her hands, and she was faced toward the top of the pit—her eyes still filled with despair and panic.

Her pain was so vivid that anyone seeing the photo could feel it.

I suddenly felt a chill go down my spine. A wave of grief and bitterness swept over me, and I felt like I had died all over again.

That day, after getting out of the car, I had fallen into a hunting trap and died on the spot—both lives were lost.

I gritted my teeth and looked at Enzo. He stood there looking like he'd been struck by lightning—motionless and not even breathing.

He stared hard at that photo, and his eyes gradually became more bloodshot.

Sofie delivered the final blow that crushed him. "Wake up! Your Luna is dead! You and your men were the ones who personally dug her body out of the trap! Have you forgotten?"

#Chapter1 Chapter I watched my husband sign the papers that would end our marriage while he was busy texting the woman he actually loved. He didn't even glance at the header.
