Hidden Behind the Billionaire's Signature

Victor Stone was my first love—until he vanished without a word. I spent years rebuilding my life with Julian Cross, a man who offered the safety Victor destroyed. Then Victor returned. Colder, richer, and determined to own me. He crushed my husband’s business and offered a devil’s bargain: play his girlfriend for three months, and he’ll save us. I signed the contract thinking I could survive anything for for days. I didn't expect the lines to blur. I didn't expect to become the villain in my own marriage. Now, I’m holding a newborn baby with two men at my side. One gave me stability; the other set my world on fire. But the real betrayal isn't the paternity test—it's the secret they’ve kept hidden. They aren't rivals. They're brothers. And I was just the weapon they used to destroy each other.

Chapter 5

Chapter 5: This Time, I Fight Back

They were all there. The brothers, Victor, Riley—shadows hovering in the doorway of my sterile room. I lay perfectly still, my body heavy and unresponsive, yet I could feel the electricity of their presence.

Even in the depths of my unconsciousness, the tension in the room was a living, breathing thing.

When Riley burst in, the air seemed to shatter. She took one look at Victor and Julian sitting by my bedside and her face contorted with rage.

"You sons of bitches," she spat, her voice a low tremble. "What are you even doing here?"

Neither of them moved.

"Let me guess—you actually care now?" Riley stepped closer, her eyes flashing dangerously. "Let me ring a bell for you both: if anything happens to Elena, you’re dead. I swear it on my mother’s grave."

She didn't wait for an answer.

She turned on her heel and vanished, leaving a ringing silence in her wake.

When I finally opened my eyes, the world was a blur of fluorescent lights. My senses were dull, but the sight of Julian leaning over me brought everything back with sickening clarity.

"Hey, beautiful," he murmured, his voice feigning a tenderness that turned my stomach. "Look who's awake."

"What are you doing here?" I croaked. I didn't care that I was weak. I didn't care that my body felt like lead. I fed him every ounce of bitterness I had left.

Julian’s jaw tightened. "You really want to go that way.

Elena?"

Victor stood by the window, uncharacteristically silent. He watched us like a predator observing a wounded animal.

"Elena, you need rest," Victor finally said, stepping into the light. "You don't have the strength for these arguments. We’re here to assist you. Why do you have to be so stubborn? You need help, and we’re the only ones who can give it."

"Help me? Or use me?" I shouted, the effort tearing at my throat. "I would rather die in this hospital bed than set foot in either of your houses again!"

Victor shot a look at Julian—a silent command. Julian got the message and walked out, leaving me alone with the man who held my life in a legal stranglehold.

"Elena," Victor said, his voice dropping to a smooth, manipulative caress. "You know I love you, right? I know you think I’m lying, but as soon as this contract is finished, we’re done.

Completely."

I looked away, tears hot and stinging as they tracked down my cheeks.

"Why are you doing this?" I whispered. "You have no idea the damage you’ve caused. My life has been a nightmare since the day I found you.

And now? Now I’m lying helplessly in this bed and all you can talk about is me being your 'celebrity wife' again."

I turned my gaze back to him, searching for a shred of humanity. "What kind of monster are you?"

Victor didn't flinch. He didn't even blink. He just stared at me, untouched by my grief.

"You'll be alright," he said coldly. "Don't be afraid. I'm right here." He leaned down, pressing a dry, hollow kiss to my forehead before turning and walking out.

I was alone for a long time after that, drifting in and out of a shallow sleep. When the door opened again, it was Riley. She stood over me, her expression a mix of heartbreak and fury.

"Look what they’ve done to you," she whispered, thinking I was still asleep. "Leaving you half-dead, only coming back to check on their 'investment.'

Those cowards think their power makes them untouchable. I won't let them murder you, Elena.

You're all I’ve got. This time, they’re going to pay."

I opened my eyes and looked at her. For the first time in weeks, I smiled. It wasn't a happy smile; it was the smile of someone who had nothing left to lose.

"Hey," I breathed. "Feeling better?"

"A little," I replied, my voice gaining strength. "Do you have a plan? Because I can see it in your eyes, Riley. If you aren't going to kill those idiots, I will."

"Elena—"

"I’m pregnant, Riley."

The words hung in the air like a localised storm. "I spoke to the doctor. I told him that if he mentions a word of this to Julian or Victor, I’ll ruin him. I’m planning something dangerous. Something... savage."

Riley froze, her eyes wide. "Pregnant? Elena, please tell me you're joking. Don't play with me right now."

"Do I look like I’m playing?" I reached into the bedside drawer and pulled out the ultrasound scan the doctor had slipped me.

She grabbed it, her face going pale as she stared at the grainy image. She was speechless.

"What are you going to do?" she whispered. "There is too much going on. This complicates everything."

"No," I said, a cold fire lighting up my chest. "

This simplifies everything. Neither of them knows. And neither of them knows who the father is."

"You're going to hide the child?" Riley’s voice was barely audible.

"It’s the perfect revenge. Julian has spent our entire relationship begging for a child. And Victor? Victor is desperate for an heir—a son. This scan? It’s a boy.

Imagine the damage I can do by letting them think they’ve won, only to keep the one thing they truly want just out of their reach."

"But how?" Riley asked. "You’ll start showing soon. They aren't blind."

"I’m leaving the country," I said firmly. "I’ll be gone for a year. I know, the contract with Victor is still active, but the timeline gives me just enough room to disappear and change the terms from the shadows. By the time I come back, I won't be their pawn anymore."

A slow, wicked grin spread across Riley’s face. "I knew you were a badass. You’re really going to do it. You're not letting those bastards win."

This wasn't just a plan anymore. It wasn't even just revenge. It was a declaration of war. I meant every word. They wanted a show? I was about to give them one they’d never forget.
