Chapter 1

C1: SNEAKY PRINCESS WRITER'S POV CLEARSTONE ROYAL PALACE "My princess, my princess quickly wear this while I discard the clothes" a girl said hurriedly as she presented a blue royal dress to a girl who seemed to be of her age as she got rid of the male clothing she wore. After successfully wearing the blue dress she smiled in satisfaction just then she heard a knock on her door. she composed herself as she pinned her chocolate brown hair behind, while the other girl went to open the door. "Greetings to you My queen" she bowed. The woman who stood poised glared around the room before resting her eyes on her daughter who stood up immediately placing the teacup she was holding on the table. "greetings to you mother" she said and the woman sighed, "Lucy dear I came to your room earlier but couldn't find you where have you been without Helene" the woman asked softly. but Lucy knew her mother was a bit annoyed about her disappearance. "mother I wanted to stroll alone without her, I apologize for making you worried" she said and her mother hissed. "Say that to your father, If I hadn't covered for you, Helene would have been punished, since as your personal maid yet she doesn't know where you are" she said and Helene flinched. They all knew that the king was strict and he doesn't play with his daughter. "Thank you mother for helping, I made a new type of tea here" she said gratefully as she grabbed her mother and sat her down on a stool and poured her tea from the teapot. A while later the queen stood up, she was done with her tea. "Lucy you have to stop walking around alone even though it's within this palace no place is safe. Also your father has found a suitable match for you he will arrive tomorrow evening you should be present so as not to taint the Donovan's royal image" she said calmly and the princess nodded . "I will do my best, mother" she said even though she knew she had other plans but of course she won't ruin their family's image. The woman took regal strides out of the room swaying her green dress as she left the room. Helene shut the door heaving a huge sigh as she placed her hand on her chest. if the queen had found out that her daughter left the palace too in a male dress mixing with commoners she would be punished severely and the princess grounded. "My princess, thank goodness you came back early," she said, rushing to her side. "I'm sorry that you could have been punished because of me" Lucy said as she stared at the floor, one thing she always did when she felt guilty but her maid cheered her up. " My princess, do you think your suitor would be handsome, one that you would like?" Helene asked and Lucy shrugged. "I wouldn't know but I don't wish to get married yet I want to be free, and go wherever I want to" she said as she stared in a daze certainly imagining how it would be but Helene woke her up from her dreams. "my princess you are twenty now and you should get married the king had allowed you to reject suitors for two years now I don't think he would do so anymore" she said and Lucy's face dropped. "Let's not talk about this now, I saw a beautiful lake today but I received the letter you wrote so I came back, I would have to go there tomorrow ok" she said and Helene gasped. "My princess , you sure want to kill me, you have to meet your suitor tomorrow and you are planning to sneak out again. The king and queen won't permit that," she said, holding her chest. "I don't wish to lose my head" she added and Lucy pouted. "Helene I won't wish you death please I might actually get married what if he won't let me leave. this is the last chance I have" she said pleadingly and Helene sighed. "my princess please return early unless you wish to see my corpse" she said and Lucy smiled. "I will return early" she promised. taking her night bathe she slipped into her nightwear and layed on her bed thinking of tomorrow. THE NEXT DAY. Lucy woke up early, took her bath and wore a blue dress with golden patterns. She wore a light white veil covering the lower part of her face, she was used to it as mother had strictly warned her not to walk around the palace bare face. She headed for breakfast and after that she took a walk with her father king Edward, his brown hair combed neatly behind his back, his crown resting upon it. He seemed to be in his fifties. "Lucy you aren't getting any younger I would want you to consider the son of King Alfred, he would make a good husband and a capable king to rule Clearstone kingdom" He said his gaze was fixed on his daughter who was a striking resemblance of her father. Lucy nodded obediently; she couldn't afford to oppose him so that she could sneak out successfully. "I will father and I know you have eyes for good things. Oh father I have to complete my embroidery now" she replied and added as she faked a gasp. The King laughed heartily. "exactly my beautiful princess, you can go my dear" he said and she walked away feeling happy. Her father grinned slowly as he watched Lucy's retreating figure. On reaching her room she discarded her dress and wore a light brown trouser and a black shirt packing her hair. She folded it into a bun and wore her artificial mustache. She sneaked out of the palace through the backside, she had created a door on the brick wall no one knew of it even Helene because she had never shown it to her. Feeling the cold breeze as she stepped into the bustling area she smiled and started walking around greeting the villagers she knew and bought a few things from them. She smiled as she reached the path to the lake, she smiled happily and forged ahead. She heard a rustling near the bush at the roadside and bent to see what it was. her attention was drawn back to the road as she heard the sounds of hooves. Lucy gasped as she saw a Raven black horse running towards her, she fell into the bush, holding her hammering chest. The horse had nearly hit her as the rider rode in full speed that she couldn't get to see it's face, She saw more men riding past her. She stood and continued her journey even though she wasn't having a good feeling as she felt goosebumps on her skin, she still went to the lake.

But he wasn't looking at their five-year-old son, Leo, who had a massive bleeding welt on his forehead. Instead, Chadwick was trembling as he held the nanny's daughter, Autumn, who barely had a microscopic scratch. "She needs ice. And antibacterial ointment," Chadwick snapped, carrying the nanny's daughter away and leaving his bleeding son behind. From that moment, the nightmare only escalated. Chadwick ordered Clara to cook a three-hour meal for the nanny's kid, threw away Leo's favorite toys because Autumn sneezed, and even secretly took the nanny and her daughter on Leo's promised Disney trip. The final humiliation came at the Met Gala. Right before their sponsor speech, Chadwick received a frantic call from the nanny claiming Autumn was having a panic attack. He abandoned Clara in front of hundreds of flashing cameras, sprinting out of the ballroom. Clara stood completely alone, the humiliation eating through her veins like acid. Erasmo Chase, the heir to New York's largest financial dynasty, stepped out of the darkness and shielded her. "A man like that is unworthy of your grief, Ms. Best," he whispered, pressing a silk handkerchief into her trembling hand. Marrying My Runaway Groom's Powerful Father
9.0
I was sitting in the Presidential Suite of The Pierre, wearing a Vera Wang gown worth more than most people earn in a decade. It was supposed to be the wedding of the century, the final move to merge two of Manhattan's most powerful empires. Then my phone buzzed. It was an Instagram Story from my fiancé, Jameson. He was at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris with a caption that read: "Fuck the chains. Chasing freedom." He hadn't just gotten cold feet; he had abandoned me at the altar to run across the world. My father didn't come in to comfort me. He burst through the door roaring about a lost acquisition deal, telling me the Holland Group would strip our family for parts if the ceremony didn't happen by noon. My stepmother wailed about us becoming the laughingstock of the Upper East Side. The Holland PR director even suggested I fake a "panic attack" to make myself look weak and sympathetic to save their stock price. Then Jameson’s sleazy cousin, Pierce, walked in with a lopsided grin, offering to "step in" and marry me just to get his hands on my assets. I looked at them and realized I wasn't a daughter or a bride to anyone in that room. I was a failed asset, a bouncing check, a girl whose own father told her to go to Paris and "beg" the man who had just publicly humiliated her. The girl who wanted to be loved died in that mirror. I realized that if I was going to be sold to save a merger, I was going to sell myself to the one who actually controlled the money. I marched past my parents and walked straight into the VIP holding room. I looked the most powerful man in the room—Jameson’s cold, ruthless uncle, Fletcher Holland—dead in the eye and threw the iPad on the table. "Jameson is gone," I said, my voice as hard as stone. "Marry me instead."
