Her Alpha's Ultimate Betrayal Novel Cover

Her Alpha's Ultimate Betrayal

From the moment I was born, I didn’t cry or make a sound. Because this was my second time living. I thought I was strange enough, but my twin sister, Alayah, was even stranger. “We’re not real sisters,” she said, her voice soft but firm. I froze, unsure how a one-year-old werewolf pup was supposed to react. She continued, “Since I’ve taken your sister’s place, I’ll take care of you.” My heart slowly settled back into place. So that’s what she meant. --- I often wondered if she could see things I couldn’t. When we were alone in our shared room, she would sometimes stare into the air, her tiny fists clenched, her eyes wild with excitement. “A huge bowl of spaghetti, I’m going to devour it,” she’d mutter.

Chapter 6

Alayah lay on the bed, her breathing shallow, her lips cracked and pale. The sister who had always been like a sunflower to me now seemed on the verge of withering away.

I held a damp cloth to her forehead, wiping away the beads of sweat, my tears falling uncontrollably.

She managed a weak smile, her voice barely audible. "You look so ugly when you cry."

I couldn’t hold back anymore. I threw myself beside her bed, sobbing uncontrollably.

Alayah turned her head away, avoiding my gaze. Her voice trembled as she spoke. "All my savings are in my box. Take them."

I cried harder, clutching her tightly. "I don’t want the money. I want you."

"Don’t be foolish. Just keep it safe for me."

I thought about my ability to remember my past life, my reincarnation. If I could do it once, maybe I could do it again. Perhaps one day, I really could return the money I’d saved to her.

I told her everything—about my rebirth, my memories, my second chance at life.

Finally, I asked, "If we really meet again in the future, how can I help you?"

Her eyes lit up slightly at my words, a flicker of hope in their depths. She thought carefully before answering.

"On September 9th, 2025, at the intersection of Peace Street and Red Star Street in Greenwood City, I was struck by a falling billboard. After that, I ended up in this era. If we truly meet again, please... save me."

Her voice grew thick with emotion, her words choked with sobs.

"I don’t want to come back to this cruel era. I miss our mother. I want to go home!"

I smelled him before I saw his name. That should have been my first warning. The Come of Age Ceremony was held at the Greywood Hall, a sprawling estate in neutral territory that smelled like pine resin and old money and the careful anxiety of two dozen Alphas trying not to look like they were watching each other. I had been here for three hours. I had shaken hands with seven pack leaders, declined four alliance proposals, and accepted one glass of whiskey that I had not touched. Lucy stood two steps behind my left shoulder the way she always did — close enough to hear everything, far enough to give me room to be the most dangerous thing in the room. I was good at that. Being the most dangerous thing in the room. The Ironveil Pack had not been built on birthright or bloodline. It had been built on six years of surviving things that should have killed me, and then turning around and making sure they couldn't try again.

I stood before the mirror in our—no, his—bedroom, my fingers trembling as I wrapped the silk bandage around my wrist. Not to hide a wound. To hide the tremor that had started three months ago, the physical manifestation of a bond slowly dying from neglect. The white fabric felt cool against my skin as I tied it with practiced efficiency. Luna Gabriella of the Blood Claw Pack couldn't afford to show weakness. Not tonight. Not at the Annual Moonlight Gala where every visiting Alpha would scrutinize Bruno's mate, searching for cracks in the legendary bond that had once defied the Lycan Council itself. I reached for the small vial on my vanity—scent blocker, thick and clinical. The label promised twelve hours of complete masking. Twelve hours of being invisible, even to werewolf senses.

The grand ballroom of the Blackwood Pack House glittered under crystal chandeliers, a sea of formal gowns and tailored suits swaying to the string quartet's melody. I smoothed down my simple navy dress—elegant but understated, designed to blend into the background. Five years as Luna had taught me the art of invisibility. "Miss Spencer, the Eastern Ridge Beta is questioning the seating arrangement," Marcus, our pack Beta, appeared at my elbow, his voice low. "He's insisting on being placed near the Northern Alliance representatives." I nodded, already moving toward the entrance hall where the offending Beta stood, his face flushed with indignation. The Eastern Ridge and Northern Alliance had a territorial dispute brewing—something Lachlan had ignored despite my warnings. "Beta Morris," I greeted him with a diplomatic smile. "I've rearranged the seating to honor your pack's traditions. You'll be positioned with the Western Valley delegation—your traditional allies." His eyes narrowed. "And the Northerners?" "Separated by the Silver Creek and Moonstone delegations," I replied smoothly.

In my previous life, I, Claire Holloway, was eight months pregnant, kneeling in a storm, begging Lucas Ashford to save the bankrupt Holloway family. But he held his first love, Vanessa Wren, in his arms, looking down at me with cold disdain. "The Holloway family's downfall was orchestrated by me. Did you really think I'd fall for a spoiled rich girl like you? If it weren't for getting my revenge today, I'd have found even touching you disgusting." In despair, I died that freezing night—two lives lost with me. When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the day I was diagnosed with pregnancy. Lucas was gently peeling shrimp for me, smiling as he asked what kind of diamond ring I wanted. I looked at his hypocritical face and let out a quiet, cold laugh. This time, I wouldn't make the same mistake again.

Three days before the mark ceremony, my fiancé took his so-called soulmate to a sacred clearing in the woods to indulge in their shameful affair. I quietly closed the door behind them and dismissed all the pack members nearby. I did this not out of kindness, but because in my past life, after I exposed Gia Fernandez’s incurable illness, she hanged herself that very night. Wilson Hamilton, my mate, thanked me with his words but betrayed me with his actions. On the night of our mark ceremony, he knocked me unconscious and sent me to a rogue den. He made every rogue in that den take turns entering the room where I lay helpless. Afterward, he threw my bruised and naked body into a pit of rogues. “If you hadn’t shamed Gia and ruined her reputation, she would never have been driven to take her own life!” he snarled. “Since you accused her of being a rogue’s whore out of jealousy, I’ll let you experience what it’s like to be one.” In the end, the rogues tortured me to death. Now, reborn, I only wish for Wilson and Gia to be bound together forever, unable to escape each other.
