Chapter 7

The next day marked the third day of the countdown to Luna's departure.

Early in the morning, Simon came to visit Luna with a container of bone broth. "I asked the housekeeper to make this for you. It's your favorite bone broth with vegetables. Try some."

"Okay." Luna didn't refuse and ate it slowly, taking small bites.

Simon soon left. About half an hour later, Luna turned on the surveillance footage.

In the living room, Sophie was throwing a tantrum about wanting to go shopping.

It was raining that day, and the roads were slippery.

Simon, worried she might fall and hurt the baby, arranged for luxury brands to bring items to the villa for her to choose from.

On top of that, he thoughtfully contacted a brand selling maternity and baby products to deliver newborn clothes for Sophie to pick out.

That evening, the attorney, Luther Lawson, visited Luna's hospital room.

"Mrs. Fulmer, your divorce agreement with Mr. Fulmer has officially taken effect."

"Thank you." Luna looked at the divorce papers and then turned to Susanna, who stood nearby. "Make a copy and place it in the box labeled 'Second-Wedding Gift.'"

Seven years of fate had finally come to an end.

It was now the second last day.

Early that morning, Simon arrived again, this time with a bouquet of sunflowers and an emerald rosary worth millions.

Looking at Luna, who seemed to be recovering well, he had a smile all over his handsome face as he gently put the rosary around her neck.

"You'll be discharged tomorrow. I went to a priest last night and asked for this emerald rosary. It's for protection and peace."

Luna touched the emerald rosary on her neck, her expression tightening slightly.

Last night, Sophie had complained of stomach pain.

Worried about her, Simon had taken her to the hospital. Afterward, he had urgently gone to get an amulet for her.

The emerald rosary Luna was now wearing had been bought as an afterthought during the same trip.

As soon as Simon left, Susanna entered the hospital room.

"Mrs. Fulmer, the invitations are ready. Once you board the plane, we'll send out the electronic invitations," she informed.

She hesitated briefly before adding, "Mr. Fulmer just spent a hefty sum buying the villa behind yours."

Luna frowned slightly and asked, "Isn't that villa usually occupied?"

Susanna quietly shook her head and replied cautiously, "Yes, Mrs. Fulmer, but Mr. Fulmer paid a high price and offered the family living there an important contract to persuade them to leave.

"I also heard that the villa is registered solely under Sophie's name as a gift for her pregnancy..."

Luna pressed her lips together, her eyes filled with icy coldness.

So Simon was preparing a golden cage to hide Sophie and her child.

In the evening, through the surveillance footage, Luna saw Sophie reluctantly instructing the maids to pack her belongings and move them into the villa behind theirs.

Today was the day before Luna left.

Early in the morning, Simon arrived to pick Luna up from the hospital.

After they got in the car, Simon gently fastened her seatbelt and said softly, "Lulu, it's your birthday today. I've organized a birthday party for you. It starts at 7:00 pm. Remember to invite your close friend."

"Alright," Luna replied.

The black sedan drove into the villa district.

After four days, Luna returned to this home once more.

Everything was just as it was the day she was admitted to the hospital. Nothing had changed, as if Sophie had never been there.

Luna walked into the master bedroom.

There was a lipstick on the dressing table.

Luna glanced at it casually.

It was a used Guerlain 539.

This deliberately left-behind lipstick felt like a subtle provocation.

Luna didn't stay long in the master bedroom before a maid called her downstairs for lunch.

At the dining table, Simon peeled shrimp for Luna and brought them to her mouth.

His gestures were intimate and gentle, like how he had fed Sophie two days prior.

Luna chewed slowly, gazing into Simon's affectionate eyes.

Suddenly, she asked, "If—I'm saying if—you dreamed that I left you one day, would you be sad?"

Simon froze mid-peel, his expression tightening. He grabbed Luna's hand and urged, "Lulu, not only would I be sad, I'd go insane. Please don't leave me."

Luna pressed her lips together. She was about to say something else when Simon's phone vibrated on the table. She glanced over and saw that it was a message from Sophie.

"I'm bleeding down there. It hurts so much. Could something have happened to the baby?"

A flicker of panic crossed Simon's dark eyes. He quickly stood up.

"Lulu, there's a minor issue with the birthday party setup. I need to go handle it. I'll pick you up later for the party."

As he turned to leave, Luna suddenly grabbed his hand and smiled at him.

"Goodbye, Simon."

Simon spun around abruptly. His entire body shuddered as he stared at the calm Luna before him.

Luna used to have eyes only for him. When had her gaze turned into an empty, desolate coldness?

"Lulu, you—"

Simon tried to say something, but his phone vibrated again. Without delay, he hurriedly left.

Luna returned to the master bedroom then. She took all her documents, threw the emerald rosary into the trash can, and dialed Susanna's number.

"Simon went to Sophie. I'm heading to the airport now. Once I've boarded, proceed with the plan tonight. Oh, and make sure to invite Sophie to her own wedding."

"Yes, Mrs. Fulmer."

An hour later, Luna arrived at the airport.

After passing security, she sent her parents a message informing them she would board in 30 minutes. Then, she opened her chat with Simon.

"I've prepared two surprises for you tonight," she typed. "I hope you like them."

Simon instantly replied, "Lulu, I look forward to your surprises. I'm still overseeing the party setup. I want to make sure everything's perfect. Wait for me to pick you up for your birthday celebration."

Luna put on a faint smile. "No need to pick me up. I'll go to Evercoast Hotel by myself."

But she wouldn't go.

The birthday party was on the second floor of Evercoast Hotel; the wedding was on the third floor.

By keeping Simon waiting at Evercoast Hotel, Susanna could send out the wedding invitations, ensuring the ceremony on the third floor proceeded smoothly.

Half an hour later, the boarding announcement for the flight to Naavi sounded.

Luna removed her phone's SIM card and tossed it into the trash can.

"Goodbye forever, Simon," she thought to herself. "You will never see me again from now on."
