Chapter 6

"You, just forget about her, she is better off with Damien."

Hearing that broke something in me; I cannot even tell what, or why it did, I just know I don't like this feeling.

"Dude! Dude!" Don snaps his fingers in front of my face, bringing me back to reality.

"Are you okay?" Don asks worried.

"Y-yeah, I am fine," I say, my voice shaking a little.

I feel a little disoriented. I mean, I expected her to hate me and move on, but I did not expect her to go after my arc nemesis. It does not feel right.

"Hmmmm... maybe she is right," Zack says.

Everyone glared at him. But...... I don't want to go down that line of thought; it feels uncomfortable.

"I'll so roast your balls on a barbecue," Don threatens Zack.

Zack turned pale. "Do you always have to be violent?"

"Jay, you looked like you had seen a ghost when you heard that. Don't tell me you actually developed feelings for her?" Clayton says.

There is a reason why I don't like it when Clayton opens his mouth. He talks too much for someone who has a quiet demeanor. I glared at him, ready to hack him to the ground. Don sighed like he was going through it already.

"What? I just asked a simple question out of pure curiosity, no need to try and chew my head off," Clayton says defensively.

"Sometimes, why not keep your thoughts to yourself, hm?" Don says.

"Umm...... can we get to class already? The guys are waiting for us," Zack says.

"Sure"

ASHELY

"Seriously? Ash, what was that for?" Chloe asks

"What for?" I asked, confused as to what she was talking about.

"Jayden," she states.

Oh, that fucker, I clearly told him the pure truth and fact so he can stop deluding himself. Should have seen his face; he looked like he had seen a ghost.

"I only said the truth, what wrong did I do?" I ask her.

"You should not have mentioned Damien. We are not even sure Karina is going to want to rebound with him," Chloe says.

"I just scared him a little, plus, why should we even care? He has nothing to do with her, and she owes him nothing, so they just be free from each other." I say plainly.

Chloe looked like she was done with having to deal with everyone's problems. I mean, I don't blame her. Personally, being the mature one can be quite draining. That is why I chose to be the immature one.

"I just did not appreciate what happened. Also, please can you refrain from hurting their family jewels? That is not lady-like," she says, clearly holding back laughter.

"I will try my best, no promises though," I said with a mischievous smile.

The bell rang, and we went our different ways for classes.............................................

Later................... in the cafeteria...............

"Damn, Ash, you are something else," Ria says immediately I arrive at the table.

"What did I do now?" I asked, confused.

"The Mr. Bricks stuff is going around," Valerie explains.

Oh.

I sat down beside Ria. I looked at everyone, and that's when I noticed Chloe's eyes on me. What did I do again? I thought we had already settled this, so why am I getting glared at again? I rolled my eyes.

"Keep glaring and your eyes are going to pop out of their sockets," I tell Chloe.

She did not dignify me with a response. I don't know what to do with her empathy sometimes; it can be so unnecessary. Because tell me why Jayden deserves it.

"Ashley, if looks could kill, you'd probably be 6ft under by now," Jess says.

Why is everyone against me today?! The fuck did I do now?

"What do you mean?" I asked in an irritated tone.

"The way Zack is glaring at you," Jess explains.

"True, what did you do to him? He sat on the bench today during P.E class, the coach was not too happy about it though," Dayton says.

"I may have maybe not kicked him twice in the family jewels," I say, sipping my juice while avoiding all their questioning gazes.

"He kind of deserved it," Chloe says.

"How? Why?" Ria asks.

"Your asshole of a cousin ordered him to pull my hair, and the fool dared to actually do it also, when he carried me against my will as payback, I kicked him." I shrugged.

"He carried you?" Dayton asks stiffly.

"Yeah, Jayden tried to forcefully interrogate us about Karina's whereabouts, and Ashley refused to be moved, so he asked Zack to carry her," Chloe explains.

"He deserves it," Dayton muttered under his breath.

What is his problem now? Why is he sulking suddenly? Everyone is suddenly so emotional today. I wonder if there is something in the air.

Hmmm...

"Karina says she is all better now," Chloe announces.

"Yeah, that reminds me she sent me a picture. I dug through my pockets to get my phone. I opened the picture and showed them.

She is definitely not doing well.

"Why is she drowning herself in ice cream? Did something happen?" Dayton asks.

Ah, right, he does not know.

"She broke up with Jayden," Chloe explains, more like summarizes.

"Why? Did this happen yesterday?" Dayton asks.

"Yes, it did. She caught him cheating on her, like having full-blown sex with another girl," I said

Shocked was an understatement to explain the emotion on Dayton's face. He looked livid with rage, but at the same time, helpless. It is a sad sight, and I totally get how he feels because I also felt the same way when I first heard the news.

"Hopefully, she is alive when we meet her," Valerie jokes, but no one is laughing.

Ah, poor Val.

"Ash, you have detention today," Chloe reminds me.

Of course, she just had to.

I rolled my eyes. "You just had to remind me," I grumbled.

She smiled at me; I guess this is payback. Child

My Husband’s Mistress Livestreamed His Betrayal at the Gala Novel Cover

The champagne tower was a precarious architecture of crystal and ambition, much like my marriage. I stood beside it, wearing a smile that had taken me ten years to perfect—a blend of warmth and impenetrable distance. The "Gilded Night" gala was in full swing, the Hamptons air thick with sea salt and seven-figure donations. I was playing my part: the gracious hostess, the polished accessory to Maximus Bryant’s empire. Then the air shifted. The crowd parted not out of respect, but out of the awkward curiosity reserved for car crashes. Sapphire Chavez marched toward me. Her dress was a shade of red that screamed rather than whispered, cut too low for the occasion and too high for dignity. In her clutch, I saw the telltale glow of a phone screen. She was livestreaming.
