Chapter 1

Susie Chance always claimed to value fairness above all else.

Because of that, she ordered a specially designed chip implanted into my body.

Whenever her childhood sweetheart suffered bouts of stomach cancer, all his suffering would be transferred onto me.

On the day he underwent tumor-removal surgery, I collapsed in agony in the hospital corridor.

Meanwhile, Susie gently comforted him in the ward.

“So? It didn’t hurt at all, right?”

Later, she said she wanted to hold a wedding with her childhood sweetheart, so he could experience being a groom as well.

“Even though the one marrying me is Mark, the one I’ll register with in the future will still be you. I told you… I’ve always treated you both equally.”

I said nothing, simply returning the wedding ring she had once placed in my hands.

However, when the wedding march finally began to play, I boarded a one-way flight far away.

During Mark’s surgery, the pain was so intense that I broke several fingers.

As the doctors cut open his abdomen, removed the tumor, and stitched him up after the surgery, all of that piercing pain was transferred to me through the chip.

The torture lasted a full six hours.

When it finally ended, my clothes were already soaked through with sweat.

The floor I had scratched at was covered in shocking bloodstains.

Patients passing through the hallway stared at me with curious looks. They whispered to each other, pointing as they talked.

“The one having surgery isn’t even him. Why’s he screaming like that? Is there something wrong with his head?”

“Probably hysteria. I’ve seen it on the news. Some people aren’t mentally sane. They always think something’s growing inside their bodies and end up causing scenes outside operating rooms…”

Not long after, Susie’s voice came through the crack in the door.

“So? It didn’t hurt at all, right?”

Mark responded softly, “Susie, the chip you developed is amazing. I didn’t even use anesthesia when they stitched me up. I had no pain at all. ”

I bit down hard on my lip, the taste of blood spreading in my mouth.

Even so, a muffled cry of pain still slipped from my throat.

Finally, the ward door was pushed open.

Susie helped Mark out. His face was flushed, and he even laughed out loud.

It was as if he had only slept for a while, not as if he had just gone through major surgery.

Meanwhile, my entire body was soaked, and I lay collapsed on the floor like a puddle of mud.

When Susie looked down at me, the smile on her face disappeared instantly.

It was as if she smelled something unpleasant, her tone full of disgust as she said, “Jason, aren’t you ashamed? You’re a grown man, and you wet yourself!

“You’re still my boyfriend. Look at how miserable you are. Are you trying to embarrass me?”

I opened my mouth, but I didn’t even have the strength to speak.

At that moment, Mark suddenly spoke in a hypocritical tone. “Susie, Jason endured so much pain for me. Even if he embarrassed you, you really shouldn’t blame him.”

Hearing this, Susie sneered.

“It was just a surgery. How painful could it have been? I think he’s just being dramatic!”

I forced myself to stand up, holding back tears as I begged softly, “Susie… could you give me a ride back? My phone is out of battery…”

She glanced back at me and frowned coldly.

“A ride? Look at how dirty you are. How dare you even ask?

“I have OCD. Don’t touch my bottom line!”

After that, she couldn’t be bothered to give me another look. She supported Mark and left directly.

Before leaving, she threw out one sentence.

“Hurry up and clean yourself. Don’t embarrass me!”
