From Useless Dud To The Alpha's Queen Novel Cover

From Useless Dud To The Alpha's Queen

For three years, Alana acted as the sole tactical brain for the Dawnbreaker squad, keeping them alive despite being labeled a useless "Dud" Conduit. But right before the crucial Ascension Trials, squad leader Cash handed her a corporate sponsorship contract. The condition? She had to become the "private companion" to a greasy corporate heir just so the squad could get high-tier gear. When she refused, the teammates she had bled for unanimously voted to kick her out. "You're just window dressing, a liability." They revoked her safehouse access, burned her belongings, and the academy advisor even tried to force her into a state-sanctioned breeding program. They left her to freeze in the slums, betting she would desperately crawl into the rich man's bed. What they didn't know was that her inability to summon an Eidolon wasn't a lack of talent. Her teammate Dallin had been secretly sabotaging her rituals for years, crippling her potential just to keep her chained as their free tactician. Stripped of everything and pushed to the absolute brink, Alana's despair morphed into a deadly resolve. Using a million-credit black market loan and a forbidden blood matrix, she forcibly anchored an Apex-Tier cosmic wolf disguised as a harmless silver pup. When her ex-squad tried to publicly humiliate her and burn her new "pet" alive in the cafeteria, a flash of silver light severed Dallin's hand instantly. Looking at her screaming former teammates, Alana finally smiled.

Chapter 5

Alana's consciousness was ripped through the crimson tear. She plummeted into a chaotic dimension of shattered stars and raging cosmic storms-the Expanse.

Winds made of pure energy sliced across her astral form, bringing a tearing, burning pain that made her want to vomit.

Deep within the eye of the storm, she forced her eyes open.

A mountain of silver fur loomed before her. It was a wolf of impossible proportions, its body etched with glowing, star-forged runes. Its eyes burned like dying supernovas, radiating a pressure that threatened to crush Alana's soul into dust.

The giant wolf, Evertt, lowered his massive head. His icy gaze locked onto the tiny, fragile human soul floating before him.

Fighting against the god-like gravity, Alana raised her hand. She offered him her soul-mark, burning with the dark, heavy weight of her blood and her absolute need for vengeance.

Evertt paused. He sensed the unyielding, violent fire in her spirit. A flicker of genuine amusement sparked in his supernova eyes.

He let out a roar that shook the very fabric of the dimension. He leaned forward and pressed his colossal, wet nose against her glowing soul-mark.

The pact snapped into place.

Instantly, Evertt's massive body began to violently compress. To force himself through the tiny dimensional crack Alana had opened, he sealed away ninety-nine percent of his mass and power.

Back in the real world, the crimson light of the matrix in the slum dorm suddenly shifted to a blinding, holy silver.

CRACK.

A shockwave blasted outward from the center of the room. The mattress flipped over. Alana was thrown backward, her spine slamming hard against the peeling wallpaper. She coughed, a splatter of blood hitting her chin.

The silver light slowly faded. Dust motes danced in the air.

Alana blinked, trying to clear her vision, expecting to see a terrifying monster.

Instead, sitting perfectly in the center of the scorched floorboards, was a puppy.

It was the size of a house cat, its body made of flowing silver radiance, solid yet with a hint of translucence, like an ethereal ghost woven from starlight. It was covered in an illusion of fluffy, impossibly soft silver fur that shimmered with cosmic dust. The pup shook its head, its oversized ears flopping. It let out a tiny sneeze, and a small puff of silver sparks drifted from its nose.

Alana clutched her aching chest. She stared at the harmless little furball, her brain completely short-circuiting.

The pup trotted over to her, its paws making soft tapping sounds. It sniffed the deep, bleeding gash on her palm.

Then, it stuck out a small pink tongue and gently licked the wound.

A cool, soothing sensation washed over her skin. Alana watched in absolute shock as the torn flesh knitted itself back together in seconds, leaving smooth, unblemished skin behind.

Suddenly, her comm-link let out an ear-piercing shriek. The screen flashed a violent, strobing red.

System Alert: Unidentified High-Dimensional Entity Detected!

The red text vanished, replaced by glowing gold letters that seemed to burn into the screen.

Pact Confirmed: Evertt.

Classification: Apex-Tier (Exceeds System Parameters).

Alana stopped breathing. Her eyes locked onto the words Apex-Tier. A massive, overwhelming wave of euphoria crashed into her, washing away the pain and the cold.

Evertt seemed annoyed by the loud beeping. He raised a tiny silver paw and smacked the holographic screen.

The comm-link instantly went black. Silence returned to the room.

The pup climbed into Alana's lap, circled twice, and curled up into a warm ball, closing its eyes to sleep.

Alana's hands shook as she reached out and buried her fingers in his soft fur. The moment she touched him, a massive surge of pure, raw energy rushed up her arm, flooding her empty resonance pool. The power was intoxicating, shattering her previous limits in a heartbeat.

She pulled the little wolf closer to her chest. Her eyes narrowed, the silver light reflecting in her pupils.

She whispered the names of Cash, Dallin, Jered, and Charmaine into the dark room, a smile of pure, lethal promise curving her lips.

I woke up gasping for air, expecting the cold concrete of a prison cell, but my fingers sank into the plush leather of a luxury Lincoln. I was twenty-four again, wearing the silver silk dress from the night my life was systematically destroyed. Beside me sat my cousin Catrina, the woman whose carefully crafted lies had orchestrated my ruin and sent me to a penitentiary for five years. In my first life, this was the night the dominoes fell. Catrina stole my jewelry to paint me as mentally unstable, and by morning, I was stripped of my medical license and labeled a criminal. My mother’s family, the Montgomerys, stood by and watched as my father’s company was devoured by wolves, treating my existence like a "liability" that needed to be managed. I still felt the phantom tremors in my hands from prison fights and the stinging betrayal of being discarded by the people I called family. I had lived through five years of absolute hell, a former surgeon rotting in a cell while the people who framed me toasted to their success at galas I was no longer invited to. "Don't be selfish, Dawn," Catrina whispered, reaching for the necklace that would later be used as evidence against me. "Let the jewelry shine on someone who actually matters." She thought I was still the fragile victim she could manipulate, but she didn't realize I had returned from the grave with the cold, clinical calculation of a fixer. Instead of walking into her trap at the gala, I forced the car onto a dark service road and dragged a dying billionaire, Jennings Stafford, from the wreckage of a burning SUV. He was the only man powerful enough to destroy my enemies, and as I stitched his wounds with stolen supplies, I didn't ask for a thank you. I looked him dead in the eye and proposed a contract that would set the world on fire. "I want a strategic marriage. You get a harmless wife with a legacy name to calm your board, and I get immunity from everyone who ever touched me." The bill for my five years in prison had finally come due, and I was here to collect.

There was just one problem: everyone, including my powerful new husband, believed I was a crippled, helpless girl from the countryside. On the day of my physical therapy, my father called, not to ask how I was, but to demand I give up the marriage for his illegitimate daughter, Chloe. "You can barely walk without a limp," he sneered. "You are going to embarrass the Vance family." My new husband treated me with cold duty, carrying me like a fragile doll but refusing to share a bed, citing my ‘soft tissue injury’ as a pathetic excuse. The rejection was humiliating. To make matters worse, Chloe tracked me down while I was shopping, eager to mock me in public. "Silas doesn't value you," she said, flashing a cheap ring from my father. "You’re just a crippled placeholder." They all saw a weak girl they could push around, completely blind to the fact that my limp was a carefully crafted lie. So I took the unlimited black card Silas gave me and bought a fifty-seven-million-dollar pink diamond, crushing her in front of New York’s elite. When I returned to our penthouse, Silas was waiting for me, a dangerous smirk on his face. "I heard," he said, his voice a low rumble, "that you bought a star with my money today?"
