My Fiancé and His Secretary Are Seeking a Thrill in the Cable Car? Then Freeze Them to Death!
Chapter 1
An hour before the engagement party was supposed to start, my fiancé disappeared.
I was about to go look for him in my wheelchair.
The Live Commentary System flashed before my eyes:
[Why is the villainess suddenly going to the Control Room? The precious female lead and the male lead are still hanging in mid-air!]
[It's so thrilling to watch the villainess's private cable car become the love nest for the main couple's high-altitude tryst.]
[Heh heh~ Well, who told her to be a cripple with broken legs? What does she know about romance besides having money?!]
The groomsmen stopped me.
"Young Master Valerius said he's gone to prepare a surprise for you. He wants you to wait in the Banquet Hall."
[The bros are coming in clutch, all helping the precious female lead and the male lead stall for time.]
[Our wild male lead belongs only to our precious female lead! If I were there, I'd help them trick this crippled villainess too.]
[The male lead is so intense. He pinned the female lead against the glass window and was kissing her before they even got on the cable car. He even threw their down jackets on the floor.]
I glanced at the blizzard howling outside the window.
Then I glanced at the cable car system, whose heating had not yet been turned on.
I picked up the walkie-talkie and called the Engineering Department:
"Hello. An abnormal vibration has been detected in the cable car's steel cables. Shut down the entire line immediately. I'll wait here while you fix it."
[?? No! If the whole line is shut down, the main couple will freeze to death!]

"Miss Linwood, a full system shutdown? But today's blizzard warning is only a yellow alert. Standard procedure is just to run the system at a reduced speed."
The voice of the Engineering Department manager sounded hesitant over the walkie-talkie.
I looked at the flashing red button on the control console, my fingers gently stroking the cold armrests of my wheelchair.
"Since this is my engagement party, safety is the top priority. I heard a strange noise from the steel cables. If something were to happen and the Valerius family were to place blame, could you bear that responsibility?"
The other end went silent for two seconds, followed by a crackle of static.
"Understood. Cutting the power now, locking the positions of all cable cars. The engineering team will head up immediately to investigate."
CLICK.
Half of the large monitor wall in the Control Room instantly went black, with only the backup power keeping the small red lights of the cameras on.
I watched the cable car labeled VIP-01, suspended desolate and alone in the wind gap between two snowy peaks.
That was the windiest spot in the entire ski resort, at an altitude of 9,200 feet, with a measured temperature of negative thirteen degrees Fahrenheit.
The Live Commentary System exploded in a frenzy before my eyes.
[Are you crazy?! The power is out? Doesn't that mean the heat in the cable car is gone too?]
[Oh my god! Our precious female lead said she was hot earlier and took off her thermal underwear! She's only wearing a silk slip dress now!]
[The male lead's jacket is on the floor too! With the system down, that thing is basically a tin-can freezer!]
[What is this vicious villainess trying to do? Did she find out?]
The corners of my mouth lifted into a slight smile as I picked up my thermos and took a sip of hot tea.
'Find out?'
'No. I'm just ensuring equipment safety.'
"Thea! What are you doing here?"
The door to the Control Room was thrown open, and a blast of cold air rushed in.
Young Master Zane burst in, panting heavily. His expression changed the instant he saw me sitting in front of the main control console.
He was Ian Valerius's closest friend, and the most enthusiastic accomplice in today's farce.
"I saw the cable cars had stopped and thought something serious had happened. Turns out it was just you here."
Young Master Zane's eyes darted around, his gaze constantly flicking toward the monitor screens.
I set down my teacup and leisurely straightened the cashmere blanket covering my legs.
"Yes. I heard an unusual noise from the cables earlier, so I had it shut down. You seem to be in quite a hurry, Young Master Zane. Is someone on one of the cable cars?"
Young Master Zane immediately waved his hands, forcing a smile that was uglier than a grimace.
"No! Of course not! Who would ride a cable car in a blizzard like this? Everyone's gone to the Banquet Hall."
"Oh. That's good, then."
I turned my wheelchair to face him.
"The groomsmen told me Ian Valerius went to prepare a surprise for me. Do you know where he is? It's almost starting time, and I need to find him for a makeup touch-up."
