Chapter 2

Leona’s POV

“Cut the act, we’ve had enough of your drama the past couple weeks.”

What an asshole.

That was the first thing that came out of his mouth.

I reeled back, shocked at his words. Was I married to him? Did I have bad taste in men? I don't know much about men. But this is not it. He was handsome though.

“I’m sorry, but do I know you?” I shifted a bit to fully look at him. He was fully clad in a black suit, his shoes shiny and sleek as he stepped forward, his face showing disgust the more he looked at me.

Was I that terrible looking. I looked down a bit, trying to hide my insecurity. I sniffed myself a bit. I didn't smell good. But that should be expected right? I don’t know who I was but I wont let this man talk me down.

“Were you deaf, I am your husband, unfortunately” he whispered the last part. As if he didn't have a choice in the matter. As if he regrets. He pulled a chair closer to the bed and sat beside me. Staring down at me as if I was dirt beneath his expensive shoe.

“No need to be rude, I was just asking a question”

I rollled my eyes, lying back down. My eyes were starting to get heavy. I was still very much tired. Ironic since I have been sleeping for months now.

Weird how I woke up after two months with a ring on my finger and a baby growing in my tummy, the baby is for the asshole sitting beside me. Looking at me like I murdered his mum. Or did I? That was a specific image.

“You truly don't remember anything?” he asked. Curiousity and Annoyance in his tone.

“I dont know how me not remembering anything bothers you but please leave if you have nothing good to say”

I said in a yawn. I am so tired.

I closed my eyes and it was dark from there.

I heard In a whisper. His voice sounding dejected

“I wish I could”

—----

I jolted awake to a movement that jerked me.

What the fuck!

I opened my eyes to glare at the person that wanted to killl me and it was none other than my husband.

“Would you not kill me please, I just woke up from a near death one”

His lips twitched a tiny bit before it was replaced by a nasty frown.

“If you weren't snoring and annoying my peace, maybe I would have driven safer.” His hand clenched the steering wheel hard as if he was holding back– from what? I don't know.

It was silent in the car for a bit, my mind spiraliing as I stared out the window. Watching different cars and people pass by. How did I even get into the car? He must have carried me.

I didn't bother asking him. Knowing he won't answer me.

I had lots of questions and I don't even know I want the answer to them. I don't think I could handle them.

Was he truly my husband? How did we even get married? What happened? How did I even get into and accident? Is he rich? Cause why not.

So many questions but I didn’t know what to ask. I have a feeling I might not get an answer if I ask. But I aksed anyway.

“Are you really my husband?” My voice came out small.

“Yes” He clipped

“And we have a baby together”

His jaw clenched hard at my question, his hand tightening harder at the steering wheel.

“Yes” he snappped

Okay, so touchy subject. Does he not want the baby?

I wanted to argue with him but I didn't have the strength. So I just opted for staring out the window.

After moving through the woods deep in the mountain.

People disappeared and it was replaced by tall trees instead.

“Where are we going?” I asked in fear. What if he wanted to kill me.

“Home”

We finally got to a huge gate. It was a huge black gate, domineering enough to make one fear the house without even seeing it.

The gates opened, and we drove down the cobble path, by the side, beautifully tended flowers and trees lined the road. It looked something out of a movie.

I opened my mouth in shock when we reached the house. Calling it a house would be calling a lion an ant.

This was an estate. An estate of mansions. The entire building rested far and far wide.

The house infront of us having the feel of a victorian house. The house felt old but new at the same time.

“We live here?” i said in a gasp.

He didn't even seem it answer answer, he got out of the car and went inside. Leaving me alone in the car.

My chest tightened at his dismissiveness. Did I do something wrong before the accident? Why is he so cold?

And why do I feel like I deserve it.

I got out of the car with a heavy heart. Knowing this is my new life.

I followed after him. Before I got lost.

I stopped to stare at the marvels of the house. Paintings on the wall, lots of it. The pristine floors snd chandelier gleaming in the light. Everything looked so beautiful like it came from an historical fiction comic.

“You are back madam” A young lady in a maid uniform bowed to greet me. I stood there not knowing what to do. She must be the staff.

“Please, call me…” I just remembered that i don't even know my name. What am I going to do.

Not wanting to embarass myself. I just held her hand, and hugged her.

I truly didn't know what I was doing.

The lady stood still in shock and my cheeks flamed. This is so embarrassing.

Wanting to save face. I pulled away from her and ran in the direction where I saw my husband– Damon go. I looked up and saw Damon’s intense eyes stare down at me.

“Your name is Leona Cross. My wife. Don't embarrass yourself like that again. You will embarrass me”

The way the name rolled of his tongue made me feel warm inside. It made the name stick. Truly felt mine.

But he had to spoil it by adding his last sentence.

“Take her to our room” Was all he said before he left in the oppposite direction.

“Is he always like this?” I asked the lady, who looked shocked that I asked her that.

“Right this way madam” She didn't bother answering. Ignoring my question like I did not just talk to her. She said before walking in the direction of a huge flight of stairs.

I looked up and there was no way I was going to climb all the way up.

My legs are still jelly aand if I did that, I would land in the hospital once more.

“I’m sorrry, but can I see Damon before going up. I don't think I climb this. I need to talk to him”

She noddded and led me to the other side of the house. This place a bit darker and brooding—Intimidating.

We finally got there. I raised my hand to knock but saw that the dooor was ajar. I heard voices inside.

I listened in.

It was the doctor from earlier.

“Are you just going to keep her,to make her suffer?” He sounded annoyed, angry even.

“She left, she has to suffer the consequences.”

“You can't just do that to her. I keep telling you she will never do that. Why can't you trust her?” The doctor raised his voice slightly

Left? I left?

Why?

Was that why he was so cold? Was it when I was leaving that I had this accident?

I turned to leave, but accidentaly opened the door, forgot my hand was still on the door and stumbled inside.

I looked to meet two pair of eyes, one kind and the other full of hatred and anger.

Not wanting to seem more embarassing. I cleared my throat.

“I wanted to talk to you about something.”

“What is it?” Damon snapped in annoyance.

“But I heard what you said, did I really leave?”

He clenched his hand tight by his side.

“Leave”
