Chapter 2

KAYLEE

My alarm pierced through my room, and I pulled my eyes open, panting loudly.

I groaned and dragged my wet hair back, then turned over to the other side. I was still naked and covered in my own cum and sweat.

I had fallen asleep after hitting my orgasm.

I ran my hand through my hair, sighing loudly.

I closed my eyes again, reliving the dream, only to jerk up as a fist banged on my door.

"Get up, Kay, you have to pick up your cousin!" My mother growled.

I knew it was her. No one else would bang on my door like that.

I groaned loudly and rubbed my shoulders, then staggered out of bed.

"Kaylee, if you don't answer the door, I'll get the key and drag you out of bed myself!" She snapped after a long stretch of silence.

I narrowed my eyes, pulled my nighties on, and began to head to my reading table.

I knew she was still there, leaning against the door for the slightest noise to prove that I was awake. She was going to come anyway.

My toes curled into the rug underneath my reading table when I stared at the unread books piled up.

I sighed loudly and pulled out some of my textbooks, flipped them open to chapters I was familiar with, and then scattered them on the table.

"Okay, Kaylee, I'm coming in," she said.

I wanted to shrug off the warning and let her do whatever she wanted, but my mind clicked.

"The bedsheet!" I gasped and rushed towards the bed, gripping the white sheet with smears of my sticky juices on it.

My head swung towards the door, and my heart raced when I saw the knob turn.

"Shit, shit, shit!" I cursed loudly. If she came in, the first thing she would get her hands on would be the sheets for the laundry.

I let go of the sheets and rushed towards the door.

My heart leaped when she pushed it open, and her face came into view.

She staggered back, startled at my unexpected appearance at the door.

"You're awake?" She asked, a hint of surprise in her voice.

"Yes!" I forced a smile, trying to cover up my nervousness.

Mom looked over my shoulder, and my heart skipped.

I threw a quick, surreptitious glance at the sheet, piqued with worry.

"Are you going to let me in or not?" My mom drawled as she asked, eyeing me.

My belly churned, and my lips parted and slammed shut, my mind scrambling for any possible lie, no matter what it was.

Mom sighed and looked at the clock ticking in the corridor, then back at me.

I knew that time bomb in her was ticking fast and closing in on its time of explosion.

She would shove me to the side and burst in if I didn't come up with a convincing lie.

"I... I'm cleaning up my reading table," I blurted out.

She scoffed at the flimsy excuse, eyes darkening.

"I want to take your sheets to the laundry, and I need you to leave whatever you're doing and prepare for school. Carrie will be mad if Debbie doesn't make it to the school early," she said and tore a glance at the wall clock again.

My hands shook, and I cursed under my breath.

"I will have my bedsheet washed myself," I blurted out.

Her eyes dimmed, and her jaw dropped.

"You?" She pointed at me in disbelief.

I made sure my grin was wider as I nodded.

My mom scoffed, shaking her head.

"Why are you acting weird?" She asked.

I shrugged, "Because I want to do my laundry?"

"No, because you've never cared–"

"Well, I care now," I said.

She still had doubts in her eyes as she stared at me.

"I will get the sheets washed once I'm back from school, and I'm going to prepare right now. Don't worry about Debbie, I'll pick her up for school, but please try to tell Aunt Cassie to hire a driver, I can't be doing that every morning and–"

"Honey, slow down!" She snapped.

I took a deep breath and pressed my lips together.

She sighed and shrugged.

"Okay, but I still insist on taking the sheets with me; you need to focus on your books more."

My heart clenched, and my grip around the jamb tightened. She was not ready to give up. I knew she suspected something, and knowing how my mother is, she would stop at nothing until she got into my room.

"Mom, I said I'll take care of it!" I threw my hands in the air, still making sure I gave her no space to creep in as I stood in front of the door.

"Are you perhaps... hiding something from me?" She asked.

My head snapped up, and my heart dropped into the pit of my knotted belly.

My legs began to tremble as my lips parted and slammed shut.

It was quite easy to say yes or no, but my body didn't agree with that.

With the look ok her face, I knew she was fed up. She would shove me aside and walk in, and there was nothing I would do about it.

"Kaylee, get out of the way," she muttered in a hard voice.

I was caught now. I would just confess and tell her I had wet dreams, but I would certainly not mention the part that I fucked myself with my stepbrothers in my head. My heart thumped so loud that I swear I could hear it.

"Kaylee?" Her hand was on my arm now, eyes angry and demanding.

"Mom..." I stuttered, face flushed.

She frowned deeply and almost shoved me aside, but a crash from the living room stopped her.

She swung her head to the side, her eyes fixed on the stairs that led to the living room.

"Honey, please, can you come quickly, please, please, please!" Her husband screamed from downstairs.

She sighed and stared at me for a long, uncomfortable stretch of time, then dropped her hand from my arm.

She took a step back, still hesitating to leave and attend to her husband.

"Mom, I'm not hiding anything from you. Please let me take care of myself," I pleaded.

Her lips parted and slammed shut, her eyes darting over my shoulders while worry lurked in her eyes.

She sighed and turned around to walk away, but paused and turned in my direction again.

She forced a smile onto her face and drew closer, then placed her warm hand on my cheek.

I shivered at her touch, staring at her smooth, warm hands to avoid her eyes.

"Honey, are you sure there is nothing you want to tell me? You know you can talk to me about anything," she whispered.

I stared at her, my throat knotting while my conscience pricked me.

"Honey!" Her husband called again.

She cursed and turned towards the direction of the stairs again.

"I'll be there in a minute!" She snapped and faced me again, the frown on her face dissolving into a smile.

I can't tell her the truth. No. Never.

"I'm fine, Mom, I'm not hiding anything from you," I said.

She sighed and shrugged, then turned around and walked away.

I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and slammed the door shut, then locked it and trudged to the bed.

I dropped into the bed and sighed again, feeling relieved.

Even though I managed to kick her off, I still had a lot of problems facing me at the moment, and that included the fuckass laundry and the school bully, Britney bitch.

My throat knotted as I stared at the scar under my elbow.

I grumbled and got up, then walked into the bathroom and took a quick shower, drowning out her warnings with the gushing water whenever she walked past my door.

Before I dressed up, I made sure to remove the sheets and hide them beneath my wardrobe, where my mom wouldn't find them.

I grabbed my school bag after getting dressed and stomped out of my room. As I walked along the corridor, my eyes caught the wall clock, and a scoff escaped my lips.

My mom had hung it there to remind her what the time was whenever she was walking over to my room.

I thought I had a hard time at school, but realizing it now, I had a harder time at home with four owl eyes watching my moves unless that wooden door was closed on me.

"Have breakfast before you leave, sweetie!"

"No, thank you!" I snapped as I walked across the living room, my bag slung across my shoulder and a frown on my face. A frown that would disappear the moment I stepped out.

I had to be a good girl. That was what my mother always said, and that was what people believed.

"Good girl," I snorted, narrowing my eyes.

As I grabbed the knob to get out of the prison I called home, her husband's whispers from the kitchen reached my ears.

I paused and took a step back, then tiptoed to the kitchen and leaned towards the half-open door.

"Are you sure they will?" I heard Mom sigh.

"Yes, yes, they promised," Mr Davidson replied. I hated to call him Dad.

"You know they always fail to keep their promise, especially–"

"Casper promised me," he blurted out, and my heart clenched.

My eyes widened, and my legs began to wobble.

Casper? Were they coming home?

I shook my head, doubting my ears. I leaned closer to the door to hear more of what they were talking about.

Perhaps the boys got into trouble on campus again after promising they would remain calm or–

"Shit!" I cursed as the door gave way and I fell in.
