Escape from Heartless Husband
Chapter 2
"Ah!"
The operating room erupted with gasps of shock, and even the online comments were in a frenzy.
[Wait, what?! Wasn't this the scene where the protagonist was supposed to trust the jerk and leave the operating room? Did I read a knock-off version before?]
[Has the protagonist lost her mind? Is she planning to harm Theodora's son? No, no, no... Please don't, no matter how horrible the villainess is, the child is innocent.]
In the next instant, I pressed the scalpel against one of the hanging blood bags. Without hesitation, I slashed it open, and the blood poured out, pooling on the floor, soaking a large area.
"Each blood bag holds around 200 milliliters. You've already wasted one-fifteenth," I growled at him, pressing the bloodstained scalpel against another bag. "You've got five seconds to decide. Are you going to save Marianna or not?!"
Logan Ryan's face flushed with anxiety. "Caroline, I... Didn’t I promise you? As soon as the new supply arrived, I'd schedule the surgery to save Marianna. What are you doing?!"
This wasn’t the answer I wanted. Swiftly, I cut open the second blood bag. Everyone around was so shocked by my desperate actions that they couldn’t move.
When the scalpel hovered over the third blood bag, Logan finally cracked. "I'll do it... I'll have them prepare for surgery right now. Caroline, please, calm down. Don't do anything drastic, okay?"
Quickly, the medical staff gathered the remaining blood bags, just what Marianna needed. After over five grueling hours, another doctor, who led the surgery, emerged from the operating room with a grave look.
"Ms. Riley, your daughter is out of immediate danger."
"But..." he hesitated, his expression turning serious, filled with sympathy. "Marianna's injuries were severe, and the delayed treatment caused blood supply issues that have damaged her brain. You need to be prepared for the possible outcomes."
