Divorcing The CEO To Save My Baby
I went to a private clinic for a routine physical, only to find out I was pregnant.
It was impossible. I took my birth control every single day. But when the doctor tested my pills, they turned out to be high-purity vitamin placebos. My billionaire husband, Denton, had been systematically replacing my medication.
Yet, on our anniversary, he brought my sister Beverly home, demanding a divorce so he could marry her. When I refused to sign a settlement that left me with nothing, he froze my accounts and blacklisted me across New York.
My own father disowned me. When an old friend offered me a job just so I could afford prenatal care, Denton launched a ruthless financial attack to bankrupt his firm.
Then, Beverly got into a car crash. Denton's bodyguards dragged me off the street and forced me into a hospital trauma room. Beverly was hemorrhaging, and I was the only blood match.
I cried and begged Denton to stop, desperately trying to protect my fragile pregnancy without exposing my baby to the monster who controlled my life.
"Please, my body can't handle this. Don't do this to me!"
But he just looked at me with pure disgust and ordered his men to strap me to the chair, forcing the needle into my vein while threatening to kill me if his mistress died.
As I dragged my bleeding, cramping body out of the hospital into the freezing snow, my last shred of hope died.
I touched my stomach and made a vow: I would disappear, and I would make them all pay.

Chapter 5
Emma lifted her head. Through her blurred, tear-filled vision, she focused on the man standing in front of her.
He wore a perfectly tailored navy blue suit. His deep brown eyes were filled with genuine shock and concern.
Emma blinked, her brain sluggishly processing his face. It was Diego Pena, her old friend from their days at the Phillips Academy prep school.
Diego sat down on the bench, leaving a respectful distance between them. He held out the decaf latte again.
"I thought I recognized the fiercest debate team captain in New England staring blankly at a pond," he joked softly.
Emma took the cup. The heat seeped into her freezing palms. She managed a weak, bitter smile. "Hi, Diego."
Diego's eyes flicked down to her bleeding heel and the bulging, worn briefcase beside her.
He didn't point out her misery. Instead, he stood up. "There's a French bistro across the street. Let's get some food and catch up."
Ten minutes later, they were seated in a warm, private booth. A steaming bowl of French onion soup and a basket of fresh baguette sat between them.
Driven by the severe blood sugar drop, Emma ate quickly but in small bites, feeling her stomach finally stop cramping.
Diego watched her quietly. He slid a crisp napkin across the table. "Are you in trouble, Emma?" he asked, his voice low.
Emma's hand paused holding the spoon. Her instinct was to lie, to put up the polished society wife shield.
But looking into Diego's steady, non-judgmental eyes, the tightly wound string inside her snapped.
She didn't mention the pregnancy or Beverly. She kept it brief. "Denton and I are divorcing. He froze my assets."
Diego's brows pulled together in a hard line. A flash of deep disgust for Denton's tactics crossed his face.
He tapped his fingers on the table. "Are you still interested in crisis management and strategic consulting?"
Emma froze, confused. "What?"
Diego pulled out a thick, gold-embossed business card and slid it over. He was now a partner at a rapidly expanding Silicon Valley tech consulting firm, heading their new New York branch.
"I need a senior consultant," Diego said firmly. "Someone who understands how the old-money families in Manhattan operate."
Emma's heart leaped into her throat, but she quickly shook her head. "Denton put a blacklist out on me. No one in the city will hire me."
Diego let out a short, dismissive laugh. He leaned back against the leather booth, his eyes sharp.
"My headquarters are in California. My funding comes from independent venture capital," Diego stated with absolute authority. "Chaney's reach doesn't extend to my board."
He named a starting salary that made Emma gasp, adding, "And I'll advance your first month's pay tomorrow."
Emma stared at the business card. Her eyes burned again. This was a lifeline. A way to survive and protect her child.
She took a deep breath, reached across the table, and shook Diego's hand. "I accept."
The heavy tension evaporated. They spent the next hour talking about prep school memories.
For the first time all day, a genuine, relaxed smile broke across Emma's face.
Diego watched her smile, a flicker of relief in his eyes, quickly replaced by a cold anger directed at the man who had caused her so much pain.
After dinner, Diego insisted on driving her home in his Range Rover.
The black SUV pulled up across the street from the Chaney building. Emma smiled, waved goodbye, and stepped out into the cold night.

My father raised seven brilliant orphans to be my potential husbands. For years, I only had eyes for one of them, the cold and distant Damien Paul, believing his distance was a wall I just had to break through.
That belief shattered last night when I found him in the garden, kissing his foster sister, Eve—the fragile girl my family took in at his request, the one I had treated like my own sister.
But the true horror came when I overheard the other six Fellows talking in the library.
They weren't competing for me. They were working together, orchestrating "accidents" and mocking my "stupid, blind" devotion to keep me away from Damien.
Their loyalty wasn't to me, the heiress who held their futures in her hands. It was to Eve.
I wasn't a woman to be won. I was a foolish burden to be managed. The seven men I grew up with, the men who owed my family everything, were a cult, and she was their queen.
This morning, I walked into my father's study to make a decision that would burn their world to the ground. He smiled, asking if I'd finally won Damien over.
"No, Dad," I said, my voice firm. "I'm marrying Hunter Beach."

Aileen transmigrated into a dark, unfinished novel as the villainous, abusive wife of a powerful billionaire.
The moment she opened her eyes, her husband's calloused hand was crushing her throat, and her six-year-old stepson was pointing a box cutter at her face, screaming for her to die.
A cold system voice suddenly exploded in her brain, forcing a mandatory mission: save the villainous father and son, or face immediate death.
To survive the system's strict Out-Of-Character warnings, Aileen had to keep playing the role of the deranged, hateful wife.
She was despised by everyone. Her husband threatened to drag her to an asylum, and her terrified stepson scrubbed the floor with his own pajamas just to avoid her wrath.
Things escalated when the novel's original female lead publicly framed Aileen in Central Park, throwing herself onto the grass and clutching her pregnant belly.
"She pushed me. She tried to hurt the baby!"
Archer rushed over, shoved Aileen aside with absolute disgust, and looked at her with the eyes of a murderer.
Aileen felt a bitter wave of exhaustion. She had discovered the original owner's hidden antipsychotic pills; the woman wasn't just evil, she was severely mentally ill and completely broken by this loveless marriage.
Yet, no one cared, and her husband would always choose to believe his childhood sweetheart's fake tears.
Since everyone in this world was convinced she was an unpredictable lunatic, she decided to give them exactly what they expected.
Aileen turned her back on the ridiculous scene, a cold smile forming on her lips.
She was going to stage a massive, undeniable psychological breakdown, using her "insanity" as the perfect shield to play the system and rewrite her fate.

Evelyn was already suffocating under her family's impending bankruptcy when she rear-ended a ten-million-dollar Rolls Royce in the freezing rain.
The tinted window rolled down, revealing the cold, predatory face of Julian Hawthorne—the man she had brutally abandoned three years ago.
Now a ruthless billionaire, he demanded a seven-figure repair check she couldn't afford, or she would have to pay with her body.
Desperate, she went to her wealthy fiancé, Preston, for the money, only to find him in a VIP club with another woman straddling his lap.
Instead of helping, Preston threw the repair bill on the floor and laughed with his rich friends.
"You want the money? Fine. Get on your knees, crawl over here, and kiss the tip of my shoe in front of everyone."
Evelyn trembled with pure humiliation.
Three years ago, she had sacrificed the only man she truly loved to save her family from ruin, only to end up engaged to this pathetic, cheating scum.
Just as her knees bent toward the carpet, the heavy velvet door was kicked completely off its hinges.
Julian walked in like the grim reaper, beat Preston half to death, and dragged Evelyn away.
He pinned her in his car, threatening to destroy everyone she cared about if she didn't return to him.
Evelyn was terrified and confused. Why was this powerful tyrant going to such extreme, violent lengths to trap a woman who had thrown him away?
The answer slipped out through an accidental phone call: the cold-blooded CEO had spent the previous night drunk, crying and screaming her name.
Realizing the monster caging her was actually just a desperate, heartbroken man, Evelyn wiped her tears and made a decision.
She was going to break her engagement, walk into his corporate fortress, and finally face the terrifying debt of their past.
