Chapter 4

After hearing those words, my mind went blank.

'Shannon's over 12 weeks pregnant?'

The recording of the variety show only took a month. We did make out around three months ago. Could it be that back then?

Lauren gave me a puzzled look. "Shannon didn't tell you?"

I shook my head and asked, "How did you know, Mom?"

"Last time, when she came home to get her clothes, she left the report at home. That's why I'm here today to ask her about what was going on. She not only didn't tell me, but she didn't tell you either. Why's that?"

I didn't care about what Lauren was saying anymore and ran out of the house.

She only got the medical report a couple of days ago. That meant she only found out a couple of days ago as well.

For the sake of the child, I was ready to forgive Shannon.

I called Christine and asked her where Rick and Shannon were.

Christine was a little dumbfounded but still told me where they were.

I then got in a taxi and headed to the shopping center where Shannon and Rick were.

It was a work day, so there weren't many people. I immediately saw Shannon, who had her arms wrapped around Rick's.

I walked over and grabbed her arm. "Shannon, you're pregnant, right?"

Shannon immediately looked guiltily at Rick. She then pushed my hand away. "What nonsense are you talking about?"

Rick was wearing a pair of sunglasses, so I couldn't see his face clearly.

He then said, "Well, well, well, if it isn't the famous James Clinton. I thought you would try to earn your wife back fairly. I didn't expect you to use such a lame excuse, useless fool."

I ignored Rick's words and continued to grab Shannon. "If you give birth to the child, then I'm willing to forgive you. We can still be together like before. I won't hold you responsible for what happened between you and him either."

Shannon seemed even more guilty. "Are you out of your mind? Why do I need you to forgive me? I'm not pregnant at all! Now get lost!"

I kept grabbing her arm. "Your mom has shown me the medical report and I saw everything."

After hearing those words, Rick looked at her. "Shannon, is what he said true?"

Shannon quickly smiled. "Of course not. That was my friend's medical report. If I really was pregnant, would I be so careless?"

I was taken aback by her words. I looked at Shannon with eyes full of disbelief.

At that moment, Rick answered his phone and said something to the other end.

After hanging up, he said, "I've got to go. My family wants me back. You can buy whatever you want."

He then looked at me. "If you want to buy anything, then tell Shannon. I'll pay for you. After all, you will never make this much money in the future."

After Rick was gone, Shannon's face changed immediately.

"Are you out of your mind, James? What has me being pregnant got anything to do with you? Don't ever show up in my face ever again! Get lost!"

I understood what she was trying to say and asked, "You're really pregnant, right, Shannon? I'm really willing to forgive you. I'll forget about what happened between you and Rick."

Shannon sneered and her face became cold instantly. "So what? I had an abortion as soon as I found out I was pregnant. It was small and I threw it into the hospital bin. It had probably been crushed with all the other rubbish."

My head began to spin and I stumbled.

That was my child, but it ended up being in the bin. How could I not hate Shannon for it?

"Shannon, you devil! That was your child as well!"

"It was nothing but a child who shouldn't be born!"

I had to force myself to remain calm and not punch Shannon in the face. I then turned and left.

I had always wanted a child, but had been unsuccessful over the years.

But just when I was about to have a child of my own, Shannon had an abortion as if the child meant nothing to her and she didn't seem to be guilty at all.

I had never hated Shannon so much in the past.

If the child belonged to Rick, then she would definitely give birth to it without any hesitation.

But because the child was mine, it lost all hopes of life.

I would never forgive Shannon for what she had done.

I became seriously ill after returning home and stayed in bed for a couple of days. My agent called me and said that the variety show had been aired and I shouldn't read the comments or the messages.

I only realized why he said that when I saw the show. The set made it so that Shannon seemed to be a wife trying to please her husband and I seemed to be the arrogant husband who was ignoring her.

My social media was filled with curses.

"Do you think you're cool with a cold face? You're just a washed-up singer, what is there to be arrogant about? A person who's ungrateful to his wife can only sing rubbish songs."

"Why can't you just go die? Your wife is already being so humble and what have to be unhappy about? Do you want her to treat you like an emperor?"

"Have you divorced Shannon or not? You should let go of her and let her be free."

Due to the confidentiality agreement that I signed, I couldn't clear things out and allowed the public opinion to develop however they wanted.

What I didn't expect was that the netizens not only abused me but my family as well.

Someone found out about my family's details and revealed my parent's phone numbers.

That caused a huge amount of people to start calling my family and scolding my parents.

"Like father like son! Only people like you would give birth to such a son!"

"You're truly an embarrassment to your ancestors. I think you should kill yourselves and not let such a person harm others!"

My parents didn't know what happened. They became desperate and all the abusive words caused them to be hospitalized.

My father had even undergone an operation.

My friends told me that my parents were fired from their jobs because Rick paid off their superiors. That was why they suffered for no reason.

I wanted to let things pass, but I didn't expect them to hurt the people I care about the most. That was something I could never allow!
