Divorce After His Affair
Chapter 6
Thinking about the significant amount of money needed for my mom's ongoing treatment, I decided to call a gaming company I had previously invested in.
"Hello, is this Ezrah?" I asked, trying to maintain my composure. "It's Victoria Robinson. You know, the Victoria who invested in your company a while back. Do you have a moment? I need to discuss something with you..."
Ezrah sounded pleasantly surprised on the other end. "Victoria! It's been ages. How have you been?"
After some light conversation, I got straight to the point. I needed to advance my investment dividends because I was in urgent need of funds. Ezrah didn't hesitate. "Of course, how much do you need? I'll transfer it to you right away!"
I felt a twinge of guilt for asking, knowing my investment was only a small part of the company, and that it was still in its growth phase with tight finances. Hesitantly, I suggested, "Ezrah, how about this? Could I advance $10,000? Once my situation improves, I'll pay it back."
Ezrah laughed warmly on the other end. "Victoria, don't worry about it. You supported me when I was just starting out. Let me send you $100,000 instead. Use it without any hesitation—consider it my way of saying thanks!"
I felt a lump in my throat, nearly unable to hold back tears. When I initially invested in Ezrah's company, it was because I believed in his project and his capability. I never imagined he would remember my support so deeply.
Choking up, I managed to say, "Ezrah, thank you, truly. I can't express how grateful I am."
"Victoria, it’s no trouble at all. If there's anything else you need, just let me know, and I'll do whatever I can to help."
As I looked at the bank notification confirming the transfer, my emotions were a whirlwind. A business partner I'd known for less than two years was willing to help me without hesitation in my time of need. And my ex-husband? I regretted ever being blind to what kind of person he truly was.
