Dead for Her Love

Christine could barely wait. The next day, she immediately took Henry to Nate's place.

When Nate saw her, he stopped her at the door.

"What the hell are you two doing here?"

"Is Jason hiding in your place?"

Christine angrily barged in. Nate did not stop her. When Christine saw my funeral portrait and urn in the middle of the living room, she was suddenly stunned.

With suppressed anger, Nate said, "See? He's dead. Dead."

The next second, Christine maniacally swept everything, including my funeral portrait and urn, to the ground.

Seeing my ashes scattered all over the floor, Nate went over and grabbed her by her hair. With reddened eyes, he forced her to kneel in front of my ashes and yelled, "Sweep those ashes up right now! Do it!"

Christine, suddenly finding her strength, shrugged Nate off. Seeing the ashes on the floor, she muttered with a pale face, "Impossible! This is impossible! He must be hiding because he doesn't want a divorce! All of you are liars!"

I lowered my gaze and snickered. She caused my death. Why was she still pretending otherwise?

Christine stumbled out of Nate's place. The frightened Henry quickly went after her.

I was rather emotional to see the mess. Nate slumped to the ground as he tried to place my ashes back into the urn.

With tears welling in his eyes, he said, "Jason, oh, Jason, why did you fall for such a vixen…"

I smiled self-deprecatingly. I wanted to spend some time with him, but I was automatically drawn back to Christine like a magnet.

"Christine, if Jason is really dead, that's great! You don't even need a divorce anymore. Who would've thought that he had finally done one thing correctly? I'll move in tomorrow!"

"Shut up!" Christine shouted, irritated.

Henry's expression instantly turned ugly.

Christine's lips quivered. She clutched her forehead and forced herself to console Henry. "I'm sorry. I was caught up in my thoughts."

Henry gave her a forced smile.

Returning home, Christine ignored Henry, who tried to reach out to touch her, and headed straight to her room. She quickly took her phone and made a call.

"Dr. Janson, was Jason Lowe's surgery a success?"

"Jason didn't survive the surgery. It was his friend who came to deal with his body. I tried calling you, but you hung up. So, I stopped trying to tell you about this."

Dr. Janson also told her that in my last moments, I was still trying to contact her, yet she would not even come to see me.

He said that I had died an excruciating death. They could not stop my bleeding. He added that I could have had a huge chance of recovering from cancer, but my family had signed an agreement for the transplant, which was what killed me.

I did not hear what else Dr. Janson said as Christine slumped to the floor listlessly. Her phone also fell on the floor.

"How did this happen? I didn't want him to die! I never wanted him to…"

I watched this scene unfold calmly.
