Chapter 8
Raven
I could finally breathe the moment the door clicked shut. I don't like this,I don't like him
Flithy perv!
What disgusting me most is the warmth between my thighs. I curled my toes, trying to get rid of the sensation.
He didn't even do anything, just the feeling of his hands squeezing my ass and his breath on my skin made my pussy clench.
I bit down on my lips. Damn!I should be feeling this way.
I won't blame myself completely,I haven't had sex in a long time so it's my body's normal reaction to a man. But at least I can get the help that I need as long as he doesn't cross my boundaries.
When he left,I stood in the middle of the room ,not knowing where the bed was. Then it finally dawned on me....I can't do this alone.
How was I supposed to get ready for my shift? I can tell where my closet was but how do I know which fabric is which?
" Why is this happening to me!" I groaned, tugging on my hair.
I can't drive in this state,I can't bathe in this state ,I can't do anything.
Julie had to leave because I needed her to keep an eye on Viktor and my kids. I'd rather she'd be my eyes at home than stay here with me.
My fingers tightened around my phone. He's the last person on earth I want to call. I guess the rumors that all doctors were perverts was true.
I'm even more embarrassed that he knows what's going on in my marital home and he's mocking me for it.
I went back to bed to wait till it clocked five. I won't even know if it's five because I can't see.
Should I just quit and start over next year when I get my sight back? Because it's going to be hard living like this for four months, that's if the medication even works .
I sighed heavily at my conflicted thoughts." I'll just take a nap."
I closed my eyes, ignoring the grumbling of my stomach and forced myself to sleep. Many hours and dreams later, a loud bang on the door jolted me awake.
I found my footing and my cane and trudged to the door. Using the cane helps but only a little." Who's there?" I asked, straining my sense of hearing.
" Have you lost your hearing too,I've been knocking for more than 10mins." Killian's voice echoed.
I rolled my eyes,of course the perv was back.
I was tempted not to open . I don't want him here but I have no choice. The door opened and I stepped back as his cologne hit my nostrils.
I scrunched my nose and leaned back. Why do men spray perfume like it was water?
"Why are you not ready?" He sounded, as he bumped shoulders with me." Oh .. you're blind. I almost forgot." He chuckled.
My lips twitched in irritation." It's not funny."
His laughter deepened." Relax,I'm just kidding. Do you need help going to the bathroom?"
I rolled my eyes." Just help me get to the bathroom." I felt his fingers around my wrists. It gave me a tingling sensation ,one that should not even exist.
" I can help you wash, you know. You don't have to be shy." He leaned in and whispered in my ears with a hint of mockery in his voice.
My cheeks burned." No thanks...I'll do it myself." I removed the thought the moment it flashed across my mind.
The bathroom door opened and he helped me into the shower." I'll be outside if you need anything."
The door shut and I was left alone without my field of vision. I took off my clothes, leaving my bra and panties on and then I searched for the shower and turned it on.
The soap was pretty hard to find especially as the floor was becoming slippery. I eventually found it but it slipped past my fingers and landed on my feet. I crouched to the ground, trying to get a grip of it but off course soaps are slippery.
" Arghh...where is it!" I groaned and gave up .
I'll just use water to bathe. I wanted to step out of the bathroom as I switched off the shower only for me to step on the fucking soap.
I slipped and landed on the floor with a loud thud! My head crashed against the tiles and a scream erupted from my lips.
I heard as the door burst opened and Killian rushed in." What happened?"
My eyes pricked with tears as I held my head, feeling a warm liquid on my palm." It hurts." Pain shot through my head as I tried to lift myself up with Killian's support.
" Fuck....You're bleeding." He picked me up from the floor,my half naked body still soaked with water.
I felt light headed as he helped me into some clothes." Don't tell me it's that bad." I mumbled as I leaned in on his chest, too weak to move.
" I can't conclude until you get checked up....this is why I wanted to help you." I felt as he lifted me up and moved.
I wasn't really aware of my surroundings anymore, there was this ringing sound in my head and next thing I knew,my limbs went limp.
I opened my eyes again to the sound of TV and the smell of iodoform.
Everything was blank. Yeah....that's right,I can't see.
" You're awake ?" Killian mentioned at my side.
I turned my head to the direction of his voice." Not being able to see sucks."
" You had a mild concussion and a scalp cut." He added.
I sighed." I fell ..so yeah I know."
His cologne drew closer, indicating that he shifted closer ." I know this is hard for you but you have to accept help."
He was right ,I need help." Call my husband...he'll help me."
An irritated growl left his throat."Fine then...I'll call him. But if he doesn't pick up or refuses to come over then I'm taking his place. You have to accept my help."
My brows deepened into a frown as my stomach twisted but I trust Viktor." He'll come."
I heard the ringing sound ,my chest tightened as I waited.
The first ring ....
The second.....
A third ....and nothing.
" Call him again....he might be at work." I gurgled as my eyes began to water.
I closed my eyes ,praying silently that Viktor doesn't do this to me . Not again ,not in front of Killian.
It kept ringing but no answer . My eyes stang." Maybe he's at the office ,I'll call him back in a few hours."
I turned my face to the other side of the bed,not wanting Killian to see the pain in my eyes.
I even expected him to leave but he didn't." I got you dinner....you have to eat now because I have a surgery scheduled for 9. I don't know when it'll end but when I'm done,I'll come pick you up." He explained, his voice cool.
The smell of pasta filled my nostrils and my stomach grumbled. I didn't object so I let him feed me while fighting to keep my face free from hurt.
Before he left for the surgery ,he placed my phone in my palm and my finger on the exact spot on the screen in case I still wanted to call Viktor.
" As for your internship,I've made arrangements for audio classes.Textbooks would be turned into audio for you . You can come to the ward if you want and you can work in the practice lab for the time being." He then patted my shoulders." I'll see you in two hours."
I nodded ,my chest warming up for what he did for me. I don't know him but he's done more than.....than what I expected of Viktor.
I tapped on the screen to call him in hopes that he'll pick up. He didn't,not until the fourth attempt .
"Rave ... .why have you been calling? I'm in the office." He spoke the moment he picked.
I bit down on my lips.He didn't even ask if I was doing okay. " Viktor... I need you right now. I can't do this alone." My voice broke.
He sighed." Can't you get someone over there to help. A fellow nurse or someone nice?"
My fingers trembled."I don't know anyone here....I can't just invite a random person into my dorm."
He grumbled again." I'm really busy Rave...besides who's going to look over the kids. I have to work to give you the luxury you've always wanted."
My jaw tightened in agony. I don't know why I expected him to say something different. " Can't you put off work for a few weeks , for me? I just need to adjust ,I need someone with me. I need you."
He went quiet for a few seconds and my heart filled with hope only for it to be shattered as his words reached my ears.
" I have to work,Rave. Hire someone to assist you." He rasped." I'll see you later." And just like that,he hung up.
The first tear escaped my eyelids. What did I expect ?
I let the phone drop to my side as I stared into the darkness my eyes fed me with. Ten seconds later ,the phone vibrated again.
My heart spiked ,maybe Viktor had changed his mind.
" Viktor?....." I gasped,my heart stinging in relief that I don't have to deal with the hurt.
"Ma'am...it's Julie."
"Oh" I chuckled awkwardly as the disappointment sank in.
" She's back ma'am. She's been here since the morning." Julie continued.
My muscles tensed." Who?" I asked even though I already knew who she was talking about.
She lowered her voice as she spoke."Holly, they've been together for a while now in the bedroom."
My breath ceased in my throat. Didn't Viktor say he was at work?
Julie continued."I overheard them discussing a divorce ."
A divorce?
That moment everything went still and the phone slipped out of my gasp.

But moments later, a security alert shattered everything: data breach traced to Haylie's terminal. Chester's fury exploded. He saw her brush past a Logan Group rival on footage and dumped her in the rain, firing her as a corporate spy.
Bryan answered her desperate call with ice: "It's over." Reporters swarmed her door, branding her a traitor. Arrested at the office by FBI agents, she watched smug coworker Erin wave goodbye.

The harsh glare of the spotlight hit Harper's custom wedding dress as she smiled at her groom.
But a single phone call from his mistress, Lila, made Chase violently shove his way down the aisle and sprint out of the hotel.
He left Harper to face the flashing cameras and the mockery of hundreds of guests.
Her mother-in-law dragged her into a hallway and slapped her hard across the face.
"You cannot even keep your own man in the room. You are making a mockery of this family."
When Harper rushed to the hospital, Chase blamed her for Lila's theatrical, fake miscarriage.
He threatened to pull every cent of capital from Harper's investment firm if she dared to walk away.
The Young family then used the media to frame Harper, turning her into a public pariah who viciously "killed" an unborn child.
Mobbed by ruthless paparazzi, Harper was pushed into the freezing rain, her knees bleeding on the concrete.
She couldn't accept that her entire life and career were being destroyed by a mistress's pathetic lie.
When Chase later tried to buy her silence with a pink diamond—the exact same one he had just gifted Lila—her remaining love turned to absolute ice.

Eileen Goff was a nobody, scrubbing diner tables to survive while her greedy family bled her dry.
On the eve of her twentieth birthday, the government's mandatory marriage algorithm matched her with a spouse.
It wasn't a plumber or a teacher. It was Harrison Butler, the ruthless, untouchable billionaire king of Butler Industries.
At the registry, Harrison's glamorous intended fiancée threw a half-million-dollar check at her.
"Take the money, get out of here, and never show your face again."
The registry supervisor even offered her a million dollars to sign a cancellation agreement, trying to erase her from the system.
At their first high-society gala, Harrison's stepmother and the fiancée locked Eileen in an empty room, plotting to humiliate her and prove she was just cheap trash.
Eileen was terrified and confused. Men like Harrison Butler didn't just accept federal matches with girls who smelled like fried onions.
But instead of abandoning her, Harrison smashed the door open, publicly banished his own family, and kissed her in front of the entire city's elite.
Why was this billionaire going to such extreme lengths to protect a complete stranger?
Then she overheard his assistant talking about a marriage clause in his grandfather's trust fund.
He didn't love her; he just needed a powerless, state-mandated wife to lock his parasitic family out of his empire.
Realizing she was a highly valuable pawn, Eileen stopped trembling, looked the billionaire in the eye, and spoke.
"I believe we can have more than just a legal relationship. We can have a business arrangement."

Helena woke up in a sheer silk slip, trapped inside the romance novel she had read the night before.
She was the doomed villainess.
And she had just executed the most pathetic plot in the book: hiding in the closet to seduce her cold, ruthless legal guardian, Hayward.
It was the exact move that got the original Helena thrown out on the street to die.
"Helena, your time is up. Get out."
Hayward's freezing voice came from the other side of the door.
He didn't just reject her. He threatened to strip her of her trust fund and permanently lock her in a psychiatric ward.
Everyone in the massive estate despised her, treating her like trash.
To force her to break, Hayward exiled her to the company's worst design department, a graveyard for corporate failures.
At the same time, her innocent step-sister, the novel's female lead, was being cornered and harassed by a predatory manager.
Helena was suffocating under the original owner's ruined reputation.
She was surrounded by hostile eyes, everyone just waiting for her to throw a tantrum and completely self-destruct.
Why should she be forced to pay the ultimate price for the original villain's deadly mistakes?
Instead of screaming or begging, Helena wrapped herself in an oversized coat and played the perfect, submissive lunatic to survive.
She completely flipped the script and took the terrified female lead under her wing.
When that manager tried to lay a hand on her new sister, Helena didn't hesitate to crush his foot with her stiletto.
