Chapter 5

~Harriet~

I'd meant to tease Rael, not expecting things to take a turn. I could feel the sensitivity in my nether region, making me bite my lip hard. He'd been brutal earlier, forcing me to cum over and over.

Somewhere in the room, I caught sight of the huge box, and I could only guess that it was the dress I had picked out earlier.

Picking myself up from the bed, I headed for the bathroom to freshen up.

Staring at the many bluish and purple marks that had painted my skin, I cussed out loudly. That man had been a total beast earlier, forcing my body to do things I never thought it could.

In the end, I could only try to cover the hickeys with makeup before changing into the silver dress, styling my hair with a few ribbons I'd found in my purse and applying light make up to accentuate my look.

“Perfect!” I muttered, staring back at my reflection in the mirror.

Picking up my phone, I replayed the audio, a devious smirk coming to rest on my lips. First step was letting her know that her fiance had a mistress. And the next step?

I smirked before tossing my phone back into my purse and leaving the company.

The banquet hall of the Morgan family mansion was rather large, fitting at least a thousand people. I dragged into the hall, the scent of high-end perfumes hitting my nostrils, some enough to make me puke.

Tsk...rich people problem.

Walking deeper into the hall, I picked up a champagne flute from a passing waiter, catching sight of Kylie, dressed in a custom made dress that hugged her tightly. I smiled, walking over, my movements smooth as my hips swayed. I could see the countless looks directly at me, yet I shrugged.

"Congratulations," I muttered, and she smiled before mouthing her thanks.

My eyes moved to stare at Rael beside her, clad in a custom made tuxedo, his hair styled to perfection, making him look like a Greek god of seduction. Appealing. Dazzling, yet cold.

My father and his wife came just in time, their eyes bearing deep into me, and I could see the disgust in their eyes as they stared at me, especially Miranda who had never hidden her loath from me since birth.

A server passed by with a bunch of strawberries. I plucked one, dragging it slowly between my lips as I stared dead in the eye at Rael before biting down. I saw his jaw tighten, making my lips curl up in amusement.

I hadn't noticed a waiter coming my way until the latter bumped into me, spilling a handful of wine on my dress.

My eyes widened at the sight before moving to stare at Kylie where she had a subtle smirk played on her lips. Fuckin' bitch set this up too.

“Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, Miss, I didn't see you there.” the waiter apologized, making me clench my teeth in something I couldn't quite explain.

“Oh, Harriet. Your dress,” Kylie muttered, and I could see a few gazes on us. This was what she wanted–to embarrass me in front of so many people, to mark herself graceful in the eyes of both my father and the public and trample on me. To appear as the graceful daughter of the Anderson family.

I smiled.

“It's just a dress.” I said, heading to the bathroom to take care of the stain.

By the time I returned, I could see a few elites walking over to wish Kylie and Rael Morgan a happy engagement. I picked up two glasses of wine, walking over to them gracefully.

“Happy engagement, Brother-in-law. I forgot to wish you earlier,” I said, handing the second glass of wine to Rael.

Just before he took it, Miranda, my mother, snatched it away.

“What are you doing, offering him a glass? Kylie can do that herself!” She spat, making my lips curl up in amusement.

“There's nothing wrong with offering my brother–in law a glass of wine, is there?” I asked, meeting Rael's gaze.

“Who knows if you've drugged the glass, you vixen!” Miranda almost yelled, catching the attention of a handful of people, and I smirked.

“If I wanted to seduce My brother in law, I would do it in the open and not go behind shadows, Miranda,” I countered, making her gasp. I knew what she was thinking–I had never talked back even when she insulted me. I always kept mute, listening to Kylie's face defenses. Moreover, calling her by her first name was the biggest ounce of disrespect.

“You–”

“If I wanted to seduce my brother in law, I wouldn't do it in secret. I would do it for everyone to see. Drugging him? Totally not my style,” I calmly started, sipping from the glass of wine I was holding leisurely.

“You are just like your vixen of a mother. Snatching People's men!” Miranda spat, making something in my heart snap. My eyes darkened inexplicably, and I saw her cower as she met my gaze.

I could tolerate every insult, but to actually insult my late mother in front of so many people? That was my bottom line.

“I can identify as a vixen as you say, but do not let that filthy mouth of yours mention my mother again. She was a thousand times better than you'll ever be! And who was it who climbed into the bed of someone's husband? Might I remind you?”

“Harriet!” My father's voice broke through mine, and turned to stare at him, my eyes cold. For the first time, I had completely disregarded this man as my father. He couldn't protect my mother…not while she was alive, and not even in her death. Coward.

“If I wanted to seduce Rael, I would do this…” I trailed, turning to the cold man beside me, wrapping my free arm around his neck and crushing my lips against his.

I kissed him in front of everyone!
