Chapter 9

"However, you have irritated me."

Ervin Black squeezed her chin as if he could sense her will to go, and he forced her to face him, "If I see you provoke other men, I will not let you live. Is that perfectly clear?" Is he claiming exclusive rights ? Why? Eva stared at him as if she were crazy, "I'm simply an average graduate with no special skills. There are so many gorgeous ladies outside who are more appropriate for you than me, please do not bother with me.

" Incredulous, Ervin Black snatched her tiny neck and screamed fiercely, "you just have the responsibility to respond, and you have no right to ask any questions!"

"Le met go, let go! I'm completely out of breath!" Eva's eyes were filled with tears as she looked at him. She couldn't get her enormous hand off his neck with with one hand, so she used both. "Do you understand where you're at right now?"

He hasn't let go of the reins yet. She nodded hastily, as if she were afraid he was going to strangle her. Ervin Black just loosened his grip a bit, but he didn't release go of her neck. Instead, he maintained his menacing position and proceeded to inquire,

"tell me, was it... Cool just now?" Eva burst into tears as soon as she heard the speech. Her embarrassment made her want to shake her head and deny what she had done. Even though she didn't want to look at him, the weight of his grasp caused her neck to tilt forward, and she was unable to move her face away from his. "Cool, cool?" .

He said it cruelly again and again, . "Would you be happy if I were in your shoes?"

She inquired, tears in her eyes, with a cruel tone in her voice.

She was well aware that no matter what she said or did, he would do nothing to help her feel better about herself. Instead of trying to make him satisfied, she should allow herself to breathe a sigh of relief instead. She was afraid Ervin Black would strangle her out of rage, but he instead relaxed her neck and even pulled out a little key to unlock the chains that were around her wrists and ankles.

For fear that he might alter his mind and do something much more unpleasant to her, she shrank her shoulders and dared not move or pull her ankle trousers over her ankles.

"No? Do you want me to assist you in getting dressed?" Ervin Black glanced at her and reached out to pick up the jeans that had fallen to the ground. Eva jerked away from the table like she had received an electric jolt.

As soon as her body struck the wall on the other side, she didn't even have time to scream in agony, and so she swiftly pulled up her trousers and put them on. Then, she discovered that the guy didn't seem to be interested in letting her leave since the surrounding area was still a confined place and she didn't know where the exit was.

"Do you want to sneak out of my office or do you want to swagger out the front door?" "Do you want to slip out of my office or do you want to swagger out of the front entrance of my office?" Ervin Black smiled sarcastically and said, "no matter where you go, you won't be able to disguise the fact that people think you are my mistress."

Eva quietly clenched her little hand and did her best to respond in a normal tone, "the main gate." "the main gate," she said. "It was your decision."

Immediately after hearing the voice, Ervin Black softly touched an inconsequential square switch on the wall, and the hidden area was quickly enveloped in darkness.

"Is there anything else you want?" Eva said promptly. "If you want to go out, follow me closely."

Ervin Black purposefully moved away from her and to the other end of the darkness,.

"But..." Eva glanced about for help in a daze. She had no idea where he had gone. She could only muck about with her hand by stretching it out. When she came into contact with a heated wall, she became alarmed and withdrew her hand.

She felt even more ashamed once she heard Ervin Black's hushed voice . After a time of holding Ervin Black's sleeve, she heard the sound of him pulling the door open from behind her. Her eyes glowed brightly for a brief while.

She suddenly released go and sprang away from him, as if she had seen a ray of hope. The room in front of her, on the other hand, seemed to be more of a lounge, with a bed, a master's chair, and some other basic furnishings.

Immediately upon seeing another door, she rushed over and marched out without waiting for his instruction. "Don't worry. It's my office.

You should be acquainted with that." Ervin Black shouted loudly at the back of the room, cynically calling her recollections from the previous night.

To the Dark Moon Pack, I wasn't just invisible; I was a stain. Dean Lee, the Alpha designed for my soul, treated me like a shameful secret while he paraded his mistress, Karina, in red silk. The night of the Charity Auction, Dean bought my late mother's moonstone pendant—the only thing I had left of her—for a hundred thousand dollars. I begged him for it. Instead, he clasped it around Karina's ankle. With a cruel laugh, Karina stomped her stiletto heel, crushing the moonstone into dust. Dean just watched, his eyes cold and unfeeling. "It was just a cheap rock," he said. "I'll buy you diamonds." But the cruelty didn't stop at emotional torture. When rogues attacked, Dean used me as live bait to distract them from Karina. He threw me into the Blood Pit, a gladiator arena, to fight a massive Feral wolf while he sat in the VIP box with Karina on his lap. "She won't last three minutes," I heard him say through our dying bond. He watched with bored detachment as I was ripped apart, refusing to save me even as I screamed his name. He saved the mistress and drowned the mate. I died on that arena floor. Or so he thought. Years later, the mysterious and world-renowned artist "H.Y." returned to New York for a gallery opening. When Dean saw me on stage, he rushed forward, tears streaming down his face, trying to claim the wife he had mourned. "Hayley," he choked out, reaching for me. "You're alive. You're mine." I didn't cry. I didn't run. I unleashed a shockwave of ancient White Wolf energy that blasted him across the room, shattering the glass displays. "I don't take orders from dogs anymore," I said, looking down at him. "I, Hayley York, hereby reject you."

You will raise it as your own. It is the price of the Peace Treaty." He forced me to cancel our engagement photos so he could take them with her. He took her on the vacation meant for our honeymoon. At dinner, he ordered me the seafood risotto, completely forgetting my deadly shellfish allergy, while fussing over Isobel’s water temperature. When I tried to leave, he cornered me. "You are a mob wife, Nina. Act like one. She is the hero who saved me." I wanted to laugh. Because five years ago, in that alley, Isobel wasn't even there. I was the one in the mask. "How can you smile like that when neither of your fathers are here at your own wedding reception?" Pond asked, eyeing Dunk, who stood in the gallery, smiling towards his newly-wedded husband. Dunk's smile didn't waver, but his eyes darkened. He turned to Pond, voice sharp, "Do you think I don't care? That I'd go against them on purpose?" Pond responded without hesitation, "Aren't you doing exactly that?" "No, I'm not," Dunk snapped. His voice dropped lower, colder. "I'm standing here for my pride-the same pride he crushed. I'm not a child who goes crying to his parents. He destroyed me, P'Pond. Now it's my turn. I'm going to destroy his life-completely." Pond looked shaken. "You can't marry someone for revenge, Dunk. I told you-I'm here for you. I'll never let anyone from the Guthithanan family hurt you again." Dunk's voice cracked as he exploded, "But he crossed the line that night!" He scanned the room and quickly pulled Pond into a quieter corner. His voice was low and furious. "He shattered everything I had. And now, with this marriage, I'm going to make him live with the consequences. He's trapped with me now-forever. I won't let him walk away so easily." His gaze flicked across the room-directly to Joong, who stood beside Sarawat, calmly speaking to a business partner. Joong caught Dunk's stare and instinctively looked his way. Dunk raised his champagne glass with a mocking smile. A toast to war. Joong clenched his jaw, returning the gesture coolly-but his burning eyes slid to Pond, full of rage and warning.
