Chapter 3

Alpha Zane’s POV

“Alpha, we got news from the kingdom concerning your brother's intrusion into the kingdom after the death of your father, the Alpha”, my Beta reported.

I clenched my fists, seething with anger as I listened to the report about my brother.

I tapped my fingers nervously, trying to figure out how to stop my brother’s evil plans.

Jeff was trouble, and I knew peaceful negotiation wouldn’t work.

His return put my pack in danger

Jeff has always been a threat to me and my throne since my father, the emeritus Alpha proposed to me as his successor.

I fumed in anger as I realized that Jeff left the pack to grow his subordinates who would be loyal to him alone.

Frowning deeply, I thought of a strategy to approach Jeff without being noticed.

“Bellamy, keep an eye on the affairs of the pack and keep me updated”, I ordered as I left the hall to prepare and leave.

I was so worried about the safety of my pack and my pack members as I walked about the room tapping my feet as I thought deeply.

Immediately, I ordered my men to get ready for us to leave as soon as possible, probably the next day.

The next day, my men and I set out to return to the pack.

The journey back to the pack was quite smooth.

Crimson Pack is one of the outstanding packs around the neighborhood.

It was known for being blessed with abundance and known for its peaceful and welcoming nature.

But now, the pack has been turned into a homicide.

The stench of blood filled the air as soon as I stepped into the pack, whimpering and painful crying all over the pack.

As I stepped into the pack, I saw people sticking their faces out of the windows of their houses with fear evident in their faces.

With haste, I took long strides to the Pack House, I was astonished at the scene I met.

I could feel my veins popping out, as I took in the scene. The Pack House was littered with corpses of my pack members.

Right before me, Jeff was about to shed an innocent soul ruthlessly.

Angrily, I rushed towards him, hit him with a pistol at the back of his head while taking his pistol, and shot him in the leg to trip him.

I made sure my subordinates and I were in control before unarming myself and shifting into my wolf form to fight my brother.

Using my claws, I ripped him apart tearing his flesh but by bit as he cried out in pain.

Pouring out all my anger on him, I dug my claws into his eyes, blinding him.

He cried out bitterly as he searched for something blindly on the ground, maybe his pistol.

“Bang”

I was taken unawares by the sound of the pistol as I was shocked that Jeff shot himself to avoid facing a cold and ruthless death from me.

Quietly, I got up from him and tried to revive the young lady who was about to get killed by him.

Getting closer to her, I noticed something about the blonde lady, something intriguing and surprising.

Though, for a moment I was quite confused about who the signal came from, I was attracted to the blonde girl, and I decided to keep her close to me to know more about her.

A surge of unknown affection rose within me at the sight of the girl which I later found out to be Amelia.

Curiosity piqued me when I looked at her with a piercing gaze not minding her discomfort under my gaze.

I've never been attracted to a blonde and I was surprised that this plain girl could have such a great effect on me.

I approached her after she had regained consciousness; to inquire about her but I could sense the fear she had towards me.

I understood why she feared me and acted unfriendly towards me, but I wasn't ready to justify myself just yet.

“Seize her”, I commanded.

My eyes flicker with a glint of sadness as I watch her being manhandled by my men. She was bound in chains with the other slaves to stop them from escaping the palace.

We all returned to the palace and sent news across the pack to everyone to know that stability had been brought back to the kingdom.

I retired to my room, took a bath, and went to bed. Tossing all over the bed, the innocent face of Amelia kept coming to mind.

Her beautiful face and long blonde hair kept resurfacing in my head.

My wolf's reaction anytime I was around her didn't go unnoticed by me.

I decided to take a bold step to discover who she is truly and why she seemed linked to me.

My eyes darkened as I remembered having the mate bond showing its signals when I went close to her.

“No”! It can't be her.

Princess Isabella, my betrothed was around the pack house and I'm sure that's where the misunderstanding came from.

I don’t want to marry a spoiled princess, but as an Alpha, I can’t make a slave my Luna either.

The Crimson Pack needs a strong Luna who can stand up for them, not a weak Luna who can't even stand up for herself.

Conan, my wolf kept pushing me to go to Amelia. Conan has never pestered me this much but has made me restless all over the time.

The mind-link hit me like a physical blow, unexpected and devastating in its clarity. One moment I was organizing Princeton's territorial agreements in our shared study, and the next, I was drowning in sensations that weren't my own. Heat. Passion. So perfect."* My hands trembled as the connection intensified, Princeton's mental barriers completely down in his moment of passion. Through his eyes, I saw her—Kaylee, his Beta secretary, arched beneath him on his office desk, papers scattered across the floor. Her dark hair fanned out like silk, her face flushed with pleasure as Princeton moved above her with a desperation I'd never experienced from him. The mate bond should have blocked this.

The needle pierced my skin with a familiar sting. I flinched, but couldn't move—Dante's Alpha command held me frozen in place, my body betraying me once again. "Stop," I whispered, my voice barely audible. "Please, Dante." His fingers tightened around my scarred left arm as he steadied the needle. The vial beneath my elbow slowly filled with dark red blood—my blood. "This is the only part of you worth keeping," he said, his voice cold and distant. "Your blood will live forever in 'The Alpha's Empire.'" I watched the liquid that had once saved his life now being taken to glorify another woman. Three days. Three days before what should have been our Mating Ceremony. "The portrait needs something special," Dante continued, his eyes fixed on the filling vial.
