Chapter 1

We were on a field trip to the Holy State of Aram, when the prom queen, Susie Lambert, complained about the hot weather and called for a bikini party.

My boyfriend Ken insisted on bringing the whole class along just to satisfy her whim, even though I warned him, "That's against the law, and visitors who are found guilty will be remanded, if not killed…"

He slapped me across the face and snapped, "Don't try to scare us! You're just jealous that Susie's got a nice bod, and you don't want to see us being happy together!"

Everyone else in the class roared in approval too. "Exactly! You already took Ken away from Susie, and you'd now come up with such bullshit!"

I was furious and frustrated, but for their sake, I spoke to Mrs. Dent, the class teacher.

She scolded everyone when she realized what they were doing and called off the bikini party.

However, Susie got so upset that she ran off alone and flaunted her bikini at the beach anyway, and she was caught before being executed as a spy by zealots.

Ken blamed it all on me. In the middle of the night, he sneaked into my home and set fire to it with gasoline, killing my entire family.

Afterward, the entire class testified on his behalf to create an alibi.

But I opened my eyes again and found myself returning to that day when Susie goaded everyone to join her bikini party.

This time, I simply smiled. "Go ahead, enjoy yourselves all you want!"

In the smoke, Ken Zonda's hands were wrapped around my neck, his face contorted with madness.

"Quinn Gooding!!!" he howled manically. "Susie would've been alive if you didn't stop our bikini party! You and your family must now apologize to her in hell!"

Shocked, I opened my eyes wide to find him glaring at me furiously.

Smack!

Before I actually realized what had happened, I felt the slap across my face.

Ken really put all his strength into that slap, sending me stumbling sideways and leaving my ears ringing.

Even as I felt the searing sensation on my cheek and tasted blood in my mouth, Ken was snapping at me, "Don't try to scare us! You're just jealous that Susie's got a nice bod, and you don't want to see us being happy together!"

His lackeys quickly cheered in agreement.

"Exactly! Susie and Ken deserve each other more!"

"She's so disgusting, coming up with such bullshit just to drive them apart!"

Even as I caught a sense of deja vu, my tears flowed uncontrollably as I realized that I had reincarnated.

In my last life, Ken slapped me as everyone watched when I tried to stop the class from having a bikini party at Aram Beach.

He called me jealous and hated them being a loving couple, while the rest of the class followed suit and mocked me for it.

I was furious and frustrated, but for their sake, I spoke to Mrs. Dent, the class teacher.

She scolded everyone when she realized what they were doing and called off the bikini party.

However, Susie Lambert got so upset that she ran off alone and flaunted her bikini at the beach anyway, and she was caught before being executed as a spy by zealots.

Ken blamed it all on me. In the middle of the night, he sneaked into my home and set fire to it with gasoline, killing my entire family.

Afterward, the entire class testified on his behalf to create an alibi.

But now…

Now that someone up there decided to give me a second chance, I made up my mind to let these ingrates get what was coming to them.

Still, when some of the girls saw me teared up, they were hesitant.

"Aren't we going too far? And I did hear that Aram is a religious state with a strict dress code enforced on everyone…"

Susie burst into tears and sobbed, "We're not from Aram! Why should we follow their law?"

She then stared at me pointedly. "It's just so obvious that certain people don't like it when I'm happy and are jealous I have the perfect figure for a bikini… and how much Ken loves me!"

Holding up her phone and waving the photos of the Aram beach on the screen at everyone, she exclaimed, "Just look! Such a beautiful beach… don't you think we'd be wasting our whole trip if we never went there?"

Ken promptly joined in, shoving me and bellowed, "Quite being a buzzkill! Go back to the hotel if you're not joining us!"

Then, turning to the rest of the class, he hollered, "Susie's right! Let's check in at the beach with our best photos, or we're wasting our youth!"

"Check in, you say?"

Everyone's eyes lit up in excitement at the suggestion.

Suddenly, I found myself being glared at, as if to say that such an incredible experience was almost ruined because of me.

I laughed as I wiped my tears. "Go ahead! Enjoy yourselves as much as you like!"

"Don't even start being sarcastic!" Ken glared at me. "And get out of the way!"

Overjoyed, Susie started distributing skimpy bikinis among the girls, while Ken distributed swimming trunks to the boys.

"Susie prepared everything from the start because she wants everyone to be happy!" Ken hollered as loud as he could. "Unlike certain individuals who are only ever a buzzkill!"

I watched as they happily gesticulated the bikinis and swimming trunks they were going to wear, busily talking about what photos they would take.

I smirked as I watched them.

Before I died the last time, I remembered reading in the news about how a lynch mob ripped a woman to shreds for doing the same thing here in Aram.

I was curious to see how they were going to laugh upon getting caught and finding themselves at death's door.

Marrying My Runaway Groom's Powerful Father Novel Cover

I was sitting in the Presidential Suite of The Pierre, wearing a Vera Wang gown worth more than most people earn in a decade. It was supposed to be the wedding of the century, the final move to merge two of Manhattan's most powerful empires. Then my phone buzzed. It was an Instagram Story from my fiancé, Jameson. He was at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris with a caption that read: "Fuck the chains. Chasing freedom." He hadn't just gotten cold feet; he had abandoned me at the altar to run across the world. My father didn't come in to comfort me. He burst through the door roaring about a lost acquisition deal, telling me the Holland Group would strip our family for parts if the ceremony didn't happen by noon. My stepmother wailed about us becoming the laughingstock of the Upper East Side. The Holland PR director even suggested I fake a "panic attack" to make myself look weak and sympathetic to save their stock price. Then Jameson’s sleazy cousin, Pierce, walked in with a lopsided grin, offering to "step in" and marry me just to get his hands on my assets. I looked at them and realized I wasn't a daughter or a bride to anyone in that room. I was a failed asset, a bouncing check, a girl whose own father told her to go to Paris and "beg" the man who had just publicly humiliated her. The girl who wanted to be loved died in that mirror. I realized that if I was going to be sold to save a merger, I was going to sell myself to the one who actually controlled the money. I marched past my parents and walked straight into the VIP holding room. I looked the most powerful man in the room—Jameson’s cold, ruthless uncle, Fletcher Holland—dead in the eye and threw the iPad on the table. "Jameson is gone," I said, my voice as hard as stone. "Marry me instead."
