Bestie's Trash Is My Treasure
Chapter 2
I received a message from Winona when I returned home.
"I'm warning you, Robin. Don't get any funny ideas about Hunter."
My lips curled up into a smile. My fingers flew across the screen as I typed out a reply.
"Why would I want to seduce Hunter? Not only is he less handsome than Justin, but his figure isn't as good either. I'm not blind."
Winona immediately lost her temper when she read my message.
"Two paupers like you don't even deserve to be compared to someone like Hunter. Do you really believe that you can win Justin's heart? Stop dreaming. An arrogant man like him will only use you and toy with you. Mark my words."
I arched my brow.
Winona wasn't wrong.
I knew that Justin's relationships with his previous girlfriends were purely transactional in the past. They didn't actually love each other.
However, the circumstances had changed ever since the Lowen family declared bankruptcy.
I didn't care and continued boasting about Justin.
"But I think that Justin has leverage against your boyfriend. Who knows? The two of you might need to follow his orders in the future. You might remain under someone else's thumb for the rest of your lives."
As expected, Winona didn't reply to my last message.
I was in high spirits as I placed my phone down and started humming to myself.
My plan had succeeded.
…
The next day, I woke up bright and early in the morning to do my skincare routine. I had to make sure that my face looked good from every angle.
I picked out a sleeveless, white dress that made me look pure but also carried a hint of allure.
I only languidly left the house when the afternoon rolled around, hailing a cab to Lowen Group.
As expected, Hunter was leading a group of people and causing a scene on the first floor of the building.
"I'll have you know that you're no longer the heir of a prestigious family, Justin. You need to learn how to conduct yourself properly when you're around me in the future."
Hunter grabbed a chair and smashed it against the glass coffee table. The broken shards were scattered all across the floor.
After Lowen Group filed for bankruptcy, all the employees were laid off, so the building was completely deserted.
It was obvious that Justin was summoning all his willpower to keep his anger in check.
Justin's former employees also turned on him, joining Hunter in mocking him.
"It'll be as easy as breathing for Mr. Jackson to crush you."
"You should grovel at Mr. Jackson's feet if you know what's good for you. Who knows? Maybe Mr. Jackson will feel charitable and give you some money. At least you won't have to starve to death on the streets."
Raucous laughter erupted among the crowd.
"Why are you still being so stubborn, Justin?" Hunter sneered. "Even your girlfriend belongs to me now. You're truly nothing more than a piece of trash after you lost the support of your family."
Justin's patience snapped upon hearing Hunter's words, though no one could discern which insult was the one that pushed Justin over the edge. He cursed aloud before driving his fist into Hunter's face.
"Fuck! How dare you hit me? Teach him a lesson he won't forget!"
Many of Hunter's lackeys leaped in and joined the fray upon hearing his orders.
I quietly watched the chaos unfold, having no desire to get myself involved.
Although Justin was a good fighter, he couldn't defend himself against so many people. It didn't take long before he found himself at a disadvantage.
He swung his fists like a madman, taking out the frustrations that had built up within him over the past few days. Whenever someone landed a blow on him, he would return the favor tenfold.
Hunter felt humiliated when he realized that things hadn't gone according to plan. Furious, he grabbed a knife and stabbed it in Justin's direction.
