Alpha’s Betrayal, Luna’s Redemption

My mate had chosen my half-sister, and before I could even step into his pack as his Luna, he had demoted me to a chosen mate. They acted as though they were my saviors, as if allowing me into their lives was some grand act of mercy. Jalen Nelson, the Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack, looked at me with pity in his eyes. "Allowing you to join the pack is already unfair to Ariella," he said, his voice heavy with condescension. "But if you bring your dowry, we won’t mistreat you." They were so deeply entangled in their affection for each other that I felt like an intruder in their world. I decided to let them have their happiness—and I would take my substantial inheritance with me when I left. ============================== Today, the Silva family came to formalize the mark ceremony. I was giddy with excitement, hiding behind the grand hall’s decorative screen to watch the proceedings. Everything seemed normal at first. Then, my half-sister, Ariella Gray, rushed into the hall, her presence immediately commanding everyone’s attention.

Chapter 15

Dealing with someone like Jalen, indifference is the best approach.

The more heated he becomes, the less I should respond.

Jalen, with his fragile pride, tends to spiral into chaos when ignored, flailing like a desperate rogue.

The Silver Fang Pack’s beta, who’s been managing the gathering, finally steps in, using his alpha tone to firmly urge Jalen and Ariella to leave.

Surrounded by my pack sisters, I’m gently pulled back to my seat.

The event’s program is meant to be dazzling, but after everything that’s happened, I can’t seem to focus.

No matter how captivating the performances, my mind remains unsettled.

One of the girls beside me notices my distraction and tries to lighten the mood, pointing discreetly to a man seated by the waterfall.

“Sofia, look,” she whispers, her voice tinged with excitement. “That’s Reed Palmer, the Gamma hosting this gathering.”

I follow her gaze.

Reed’s features are calm, his presence understated yet commanding, much like the elegant handwriting on the invitation I received.

I’ve always been grateful to him for offering me a space of dignity when I became the pack’s omega.

I want to thank him in person, but I hesitate.

Our earlier confrontation must have been heard by everyone, including him.

I’m not sure where he stands in all of this.

The thought makes me shrink back, my courage wavering.

Yet, as I glance at him again, I can’t help but feel a flicker of hope—that perhaps, in this world of rigid hierarchies and betrayals, there’s still someone who values respect over power.

“You’re too emotional to be Luna,” he said with a sigh, like this conversation exhausted him before it even began. “Jane is calmer. Obedient. And Malleable.” I flinched. “She’s not even a full-blooded member of our pack—she’s your bastard,” I snapped. “She wasn’t raised with our ways, our strength—she was raised with shame and a mother you betrayed ours with!”

The pain was constant. Ten pregnancies in three years had left my body a shell of what it once was. I lay on the thin mattress in the healer's den, my abdomen still cramping from delivering Jason's latest heir just hours ago. The scent of medicinal herbs did little to mask the metallic tang of blood that clung to me. I should have been resting. I should have been recovering. Instead, I was straining to hear the conversation filtering through the thin walls of the den. "How much longer do we need to keep her?" Vanessa's voice, sweet as poisoned honey. "Just until we secure our position in the Northern Alliance." Jason's reply sent ice through my veins. "The last pup she produced has strong Alpha potential.

The phone rang while I was cutting silver paper for Lyla's gifts. I knew it was him before I looked. Seven years of marriage teaches you the rhythm of a man's calls, even the ones that lie. I picked up and tucked the phone against my shoulder. "Amelie." Cullen's voice was tired in that careful way of his. "There's a problem at the northern border. Rogues. I can't make it back for the Solstice." I kept cutting. The scissors made a clean, even sound. "How many?" I asked.

The full moon hung like a silver pendant against the midnight sky, casting an ethereal glow over the Silvermoon Pack's sacred clearing. I adjusted the heavy Luna's cloak draped across my shoulders, the silver embroidery catching moonlight as I stood beside Kai. Five years as his chosen mate, and the ceremonial garment still felt like borrowed finery, too grand for the pack healer's daughter. Kai's muscular frame tensed beside me as Alpha Killian began the monthly ritual. His golden eyes scanned the gathering with practiced authority, his jaw set in that handsome, stern expression that had captured my heart since childhood. My wolf, Lily, stirred within me, always eager for his attention. "The bonds of pack are sacred under the Moon Goddess's light," Alpha Killian intoned, his voice carrying across the assembled werewolves. I should have been listening, should have been focused on the ceremony that bound our pack together. Instead, I was stealing glances at Kai, hoping for one of his rare smiles directed my way. That's when I felt it—the subtle shift in the air, like the moment before a storm breaks.
