Chapter 2

Bella POV When it was five in the morning, I woke up to begin my chores as I always had. He was still paying me for my duty, after all. I got up to my feet, left to take my bath, dressed in casual wear, then began cleaning my room, which is the first thing I clean. Memories of what happened last night flooded me. "I need to forget about this," I said. "I only hope not to be killed by all those demons." I continued with the cleaning, engrossing myself in it. When I was done cleaning up my room, I walked to my mini kitchen and began cooking. I ate and relaxed after that then set out to clean the main house. Getting out of the house, I was kinda afraid when I saw Mr. Scott by the door side. "Why is he here?" I asked myself. Courageously, I walked to his front and greeted him. "Good morning, sir," I said. He looked up at me and smiled, "Good morning, ready for the chores?" I nodded my head in response to that. He left, allowing me to enter. I walked in and set out to begin my duty. "Bella, clean this up." One of his children demanded. I looked at him and shook my head, as I knew that he had purposefully done it. I took hold of the mop and began to clean the mess, but as I busied myself cleaning the mess, he kept spilling other things on the floor. Anger arose in me as I saw him do this, but what could I do, after all, I was performing my duty. "You are pathetic." He said in a huff, throwing the glass of juice that was in his hand on my face. I kept cleaning, after all, they couldn't launch at me because they feared death. My clothes were sticky, but I knew not to change them immediately, so I kept cleaning them. Done cleaning, the area, I was about to move to another area when Mr. Scott's voice stopped me. "You can't go anywhere else without having your clothes changed." He said. I knew better than to argue with him, so I nodded and headed back to my quarters. Done cleaning the house, I had plans to go visit a library down the street, so I asked for permission from Mr. Scott who granted it. "You should be back in the next two hours." He said, and I nodded. I left for the library and got myself a book to read. I sat at the back as I engrossed myself in reading. I was a loner, so no one was going to notice me; even if they did, they didn't care. "What are you reading?" I heard from behind me and looked up. My eyes met with a dashing hot man who I could say just came into the pack, as he had the guts to talk to me. He smiled, seeing the look on my face; his smile was beautiful, something I adored so much even after he left. "Are you speaking to me?" I asked. "Yeah, it's you." He said with a wonderful smile. "Lords of the ring," I said. He smiled, looking into my eyes, and I couldn't help but feel the bubbles in my stomach. "It's a nice book," he said. "So sweetheart, when is your birthday?" My ears tickled with the word, Sweetheart. Like someone just called me sweetheart. This made me smile. "Next week in seven days." I stuttered a bit flustered by his closeness to me. "So what would you be doing?" He asked. "Nothing special," I said with a shrug. "Well, if I may ask, where do you stay?" He said. "Down the street, the seventh house after this," I said, not sure why I was speaking to him. I guess, it's because I got no one to speak to me in such a nice manner. "May I come, take you out on that day, maybe a date to celebrate you?" He asked. I stared intensely at him as I didn't know what to say. "Well, I don't know." I finally said, putting back the strand of hair that covered my face behind my ear. "You should," he said. I stared at him as I didn't know what he meant by that, but anyway, it would be good if I went out. "Alright," I said. At that point, I heard laughter beside me and turned to see the source of the laughter. I looked at the lady beside me who had a phone pointed at my face. She and some others were laughing. I also turned to see the man I was speaking with laughing. Was this a joke? Did he make me a joke? He sighed and then looked at me. "Do you think I will go out with you, to celebrate your birthday? You feel like a fool now, agreeing to the words of someone you don't know." He continued laughing after saying these hurtful words. Tears flowed down my face as I picked up my bag, pushed him aside, and rushed out of the building. Their laughter echoed in my ear as I ran out. The next week, I sat alone in my quarter holding on to my hand. "It's my birthday. I wish myself a happy birthday." I said to myself. I celebrated my birthday in a low-key manner when Mr. Scott's wife was alive, though her children were against it. I don't know what this day is going to look like to me. I looked at my door and remembered how everyone had dejected me, how my adopted mother died, leaving me in this world of pain. I felt broken and in pain. I thought of how everyone who had shown me love before would look at me from heaven to curse me. "I am just a mess," I said to myself. There was nothing else in this world that thrilled me, but I knew there was a reason for my existence, which I do not know. But obviously, it is not to wish for people's death. There is probably a reason for this continuous death. Maybe someone placed a curse on my parents and me.
