Chapter 5

Georgina's POV

"Okay, noted." I reply calmly.

The receptionists on the ground floor welcomed us, "Are you Miss Georgina?" One of them asks.

I nod, "Yes." They already know me, I get myself documented showing them my Identity card among others. Everything works here just like in a bank or airport. They pay attention to documentation even after recognizing I'm the lady the Alpha sends for. My luggage is taken to the store room, "You can't visit the Alpha in his office with them," the young woman at the counter said politely.

In minutes, I find myself standing before the giant glass door of his office. His Highness, Alpha Christian of Asark' is inscribed on top of the door. Few inches to it, the door whirls open before us.

"It's automatic," the guide says to me and we walk inside.

Before me sits the most handsome man I'd ever seen. His eyes are blue and so piercing, lined with lust. He's the infamous playboy. Nervousness starts to set in, I glance down at myself, my dress is poor and cheap. I feel ashamed.

"Good morning, Your Highness," I managed to say. The short silence before he replies to my greeting, seems the greatest suspense ever.

"Good morning Georgina!" He says in a deep voice as his eyes continue to gawk at me. I sense everything has changed, no longer is he the flirt I can treat or reply anyhow to. He has all the authority here as Asark is his land and I'm just a foreigner. I wouldn't let this make me stoop low though.

"Welcome to my office and to Asark," he says, sounding a bit polite. "How was your trip here?"

"Thanks, Your Highness. My trip was memorable."

"You can call me Christian, the title is not necessary." He heaved a sigh of relief, focusing on his system. "You can sit!"

"Thanks."

"Mr. Deolf, you can go." He lifts up his face and gestures to my guide to leave, he bows in respect and leaves. I raise my eyes in gratitude to him for guiding me to this level. He winks at me before leaving.

Silence fills the air before Christian stands up, gesturing to me to do the same. I get surprised wondering what he means by this, "We need to get you something to eat, I mean like a kind of casual date. This' my little welcome to you. Over the date we can discuss more about the matter we had on the phone, that wasn't a phone matter."

"Yes, Your Highness." I reply glancing down, I can't focus on his flirtatious eyes, they are capable of getting me nervous, they are weighing my defenses down. It's better to look down and maintain my composure than look up and fall for him.

We got into his car where we journeyed to one of the luxurious restaurants in town. By the scenario and the people I meet inside, I realized it's no place for the common man, but super-rich and classy celebrities like him.

"So what did you ask me to do for you, or what do you want me to do for you?" He asks.

My countenance brightens as he says this, I feel delighted. This' indeed a wonderful privilege I wouldn't believe could ever come my way. Now it's here I need to utilize it very well.

"I..I.." Excitement takes over me that I have to stammer.

"No, you can say whatever you wish. Is it a job or…?

"I want to further my education, I want to go to college." I snap. Furthering my education has always been my dream after I managed to complete high school in the house of my mistress. I feel this level is not sufficient for the rising competition in the world today, there are certain jobs I wouldn't qualify for with my high school certificate. I need to go further, it would cost a lot but I believe that's nothing to Christian with a billionaire that he is.

I won't mention any college to him, I just want him to send me to any college he wishes, after all, I don't owe him any responsibility, he's just trying to help me.

"Well, I agree to send you to college, whichever college you wish to go but you would do something for me." At once I wanted to say I would do anything until I had a second thought, I'm not sure of what he wants me to do. What if it's something I wouldn't want to do?

"What is it you want me to do?" I ask politely with some anxiety in my mind. I have to ascertain what he wants before I give him my word.

"Don't worry after our meal, you'd get to know about it."

The meal continued, we were done at about 12 noon where he drove me back to his castle in his car. Inside he started playing cool and seductive, placing his hand on my tight. I felt a surge of ecstasy swipe across me, his hand over my shoulders when we got out of the car. I got shy that people would see us this way, who would dare speak, everyone knows him as a playboy, a confirmed flirt.

I feel it would just end this way. We discussed this in his office. He agreed to sponsor me through any college, Harvard is my dream, that would imply me going away from the palace to Massachusetts to which he disagreed. He said I can only live in his state where he would watch over me. He suggested that I work for him while I attended college. At the end we agreed on an online programme. I would take my lectures from the comfort of wherever I am to suit his wish of having me around.

"This' what I want you to do for me," he says as he gestures to me out of his office. "I need us to have sex, you give me your body and I give you what you want."

Chapter 1 : Shadows Cast at Moonset** Seven years into their marriage, Kathleen knew her place in David’s world. To him, she was less a wife and more a convenient outlet—a bedmate for whenever the urge struck. After yet another passionless encounter, he absently nuzzled the top of her head. “If I haven’t found her by the time I turn thirty, I’ll settle down with you for good.” Kathleen knew exactly who occupied his heart: the little girl who had pulled him from the sea over twenty years before. He’d once confessed promising her, even then, that he would marry her when he grew up. For seven years, Kathleen had asked the same question—what if you never find her? For seven years, David had never answered. But tonight, she finally had the answer she’d longed for. A fragile hope fluttered in her chest, because after midnight, David would be thirty. She had thrown a lavish party at his estate on the outskirts of town. Now, in the castle’s top-floor suite, the frantic energy of their encounter had dissipated. In one hour, they would stand before that same castle, hand in hand, ready to face the future. Wincing at the soreness in her lower back, Kathleen leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to his Adam’s apple, her gaze hazy with lingering desire. “Wait for me.” An hour later, she stood in a shimmering fishtail gown, a pair of matching wedding bands clutched in her palm. *After tonight*, she thought, *we can finally leave the past behind and truly begin.* But when she turned, she saw David embracing another woman. The man who was usually so aloof he rarely smiled now held a look of wild, disbelieving joy, his voice trembling. “I finally found you!” The woman wore a simple white dress, her face a portrait of innocent alarm. Kathleen stood frozen, the warmth draining from her fingertips in an instant. It was Emily, the daughter of the Jiang family’s former housekeeper. She had lived in the household with her mother since childhood. Kathleen’s father had always treated her kindly, even sponsoring her overseas studies seven years ago. Their personalities had never meshed, resulting in a relationship of consistent, cool politeness. “Mr. David,” Emily stammered, shrinking back slightly, “you… you must have the wrong person.” David released her, his fingers gently tracing the jade pendant hanging from her neck. His voice softened, as if handling a priceless treasure. “This is the token I gave you when you saved me. Why did you never come find me?” Emily looked bewildered. “I… I had a high fever after nearly drowning as a child. I lost some memories. I don’t remember who gave me this pendant.” “It was me,” David said, his eyes blazing. “I told you back then, you would be my only bride in this lifetime.” The words were a knife, plunging straight into Kathleen’s heart. Emily’s gaze, however, drifted over David’s shoulder, locking onto Kathleen. “But Mr. David, you’re already married to Ms. Kathleen.” David turned. The tenderness in his eyes vanished, replaced by the detached coolness reserved for a stranger. “I told her before we married that my heart belonged to someone else. She made her choice.” A suffocating pain seized her chest, stealing her breath. She remembered seven years ago, when the Shen and Jiang families first broached the alliance. The first time she saw David, she’d fallen for those cool, distant eyes. Even then, he had stated plainly: he was waiting for someone. He would never love her. But she, stubborn and proud, had assured him, “I can wait. If you truly find her, I’ll step aside willingly.” She’d been too young, too confident, convinced that time and closeness would work in her favor. Just last night, he had held her and murmured, “Kathleen, let’s have a proper wedding.” Cradled in his arms, her heart had raced, believing she had finally grasped the moon. Now, he was saying his heart belonged only to Emily.
