After My Alpha Slept with His Omega Mistress

The silver moonlight bathed Dean's quarters in an ethereal glow, casting long shadows across the polished wooden floors. I stood frozen in the doorway, the ceremonial gift box clutched so tightly against my chest that my knuckles had turned white. Inside lay the handcrafted silver pendant—a wolf with moonstone eyes—that I'd spent weeks perfecting for my Alpha, my fated mate, on the eve of our ceremony. But the air shifted, carrying a scent that made my wolf, Sable, stir uneasily within me. Vanilla and jasmine—Renata Woods. An Omega. Here. Now. My fingers trembled as I pushed the door open wider, praying I was wrong, that my senses had betrayed me. They hadn't.

Chapter 1

There, on the bed that should have been ours tomorrow night, lay Dean and Renata. His strong hands tangled in her dark hair, her body arched against his in shameless abandon. The sheets—our sheets—twisted around their legs as they moved in perfect, practiced rhythm.

"Alpha," she moaned, her voice carrying a desperate hunger. "You're all I need. You're everything."

Dean's laugh was low, satisfied. "You're insatiable, little Omega. But I like that. I like that very much."

Sable howled within me, a sound of such raw anguish that I had to clamp my hand over my mouth to keep it from escaping my throat. My wolf wanted blood—wanted to rip out the throat of the man who had just shattered everything I'd believed about fate and mate bonds.

I pressed my thumb hard against my wrist, against the pulse that thundered with my rage and heartbreak. The pain grounded me, kept me from shifting right there in the doorway.

"I could stay," Renata whispered, her fingers tracing patterns on Dean's chest. "All night. No one would know."

"No," Dean said, his voice firm. "Tomorrow I mark my Luna. The pack needs the Morales alliance, and appearances matter. But you... you'll still be mine. After. Always."

Appearances. That's all I was to him. An alliance. A convenient political move.

I stepped back into the shadows, my chest tight with a grief so profound it felt like drowning. The pendant box burned against my skin, and I almost threw it against the wall. Instead, I tucked it into my cloak pocket, a reminder of how thoroughly I'd been played.

"Sable," I whispered to my wolf, "we wait. We endure. For Father."

Sable's growl was answer enough. We would survive this. And someday, somehow, we would make Dean Harrison regret the day he ever thought he could use me.

I slipped away from the door, my footsteps silent. Behind me, Renata's laughter floated through the air, oblivious to the fact that she'd just become a pawn in a game she didn't even know we were playing.

Tomorrow, I would bare my neck to a monster. Tomorrow, I would become his Luna.

And tomorrow, the trap would begin.

I could hear Ayden's breathing from across the basement room. Each inhale was a shallow, wet rattle that told me what I already knew: my son was slipping away. The pack healer had refused my pleas for the third time this week, and I had nothing left to offer him except the memory of a mother's love and whatever dignity I could salvage from this crumbling world. I ran my fingers along the cold brick wall as I made my way to the door, counting my steps the way I had learned to do since losing my sight. Twenty-three steps to the door. I couldn't see the mold growing in the corners anymore, but I could smell it—just as I could smell Ayden's sickness, the metallic scent of failing organs that no amount of love could heal. "Mama?" His voice was barely a whisper, and I turned toward it, my body responding to the sound even if my eyes could not. "I'm here, baby." I knelt beside his small mattress, finding his hand with ease. His skin was so hot, so dry. "I'm going to get you something special.

And they definitely don't know I'm the only one who can stop the Demon King of the Void from breaking through and destroying all shifter-kind. The Crown Prince Alpha thought bonding with me would weaken his bloodline. Now he corners me in the hallways, his voice low and desperate "You belong to me, Lysandra. At my side. In my bed. Under my protection. Your wolf calls to mine-don't you dare deny what burns between us." The General Alpha believed I'd be a liability on the battlefield. Now he drops to one knee before me after I ended a war he couldn't win, his eyes burning gold. "I was a god-damned fool. You're not just my mate. You're my Alpha. My equal in everything. I'll kill anyone who tries to take you from me. Say you'll stay." The Grand Sorcerer Alpha was convinced I had no wolf, no power, nothing became obsessed. "Your power passes mine. You're Mine. I've searched centuries for a mate worthy of me, and you've been here all along. Don't you dare hide from me again." The Merchant Heir Alpha called me forgettable. Now he traces the scars on my face like they're sacred. "I was blind and stupid. You're the most exquisite creature I've ever seen. Let me spend eternity proving I'm worthy of you. Let me worship you the way I should have from the moment we met." The Shadow Guardian Alpha refused to even acknowledge my existence. Now he stalks me through the darkness, his voice a rough whisper against my neck. "I've hunted you for years without knowing my prey was my mate. You're the only wolf strong enough to stand beside me. The only one I'll ever submit to. You own me, little phantom. Whether you accept it or not." And now all five of them are obsessed with me. Possessive and Feral with need. Too bad I'm the one in control now. And I have a Demon King to kill.

The first sensation was smell—antiseptic mixed with something floral and wrong. My eyelids fluttered open, revealing an unfamiliar ceiling. Not my bedroom. Not my packhouse. My fingers twitched against crisp sheets. Hospital sheets. "She's waking up," a voice murmured nearby. "Get the sedative ready." I tried to lift my hand, but my limbs felt like lead. Three years. Three years I'd been lying here, trapped in darkness, while the world continued without me.
