After My Alpha Chose His Mistress Over Me Novel Cover

After My Alpha Chose His Mistress Over Me

The Ironveil pack hall is carved into my bones: cedar smoke, cold stone, the sour taste of fear. I know exactly where the light pools on the floor—and the precise second my life shattered. I have died here before, though not in this room. Three miles north, on a cliff, Lea Parker’s hands were warm on my shoulders while Collin’s silence screamed louder than any howl. It all started in this hall, one breath before the worst. The Moon Goddess ripped me from death and forced me back into my own body, into my own life, at the exact moment my Alpha chose his mistress over me. This time, I remember everything.

Chapter 1

The great hall of the Ironveil pack house smelled the same way it always had—cedar smoke, old stone, and the faint bitterness of fear that never quite aired out. I knew this room. I knew the exact place where the afternoon light fell through the high windows and struck the floor in long gold bars. I knew, down to the second, what was about to happen.

Because I had died here once already.

Not in this room, exactly. On a cliff, three miles north, with Lea Parker's hands still warm on my shoulders and Collin's silence louder than any scream. But it started here. This exact moment. The Moon Goddess had reached into whatever came after death and set me back down inside my own body, inside my own life, one breath before the worst of it.

Alpha Collin stood at the head of the hall, broad-shouldered, golden-haired, wearing the kind of handsome that made people forget to ask what was underneath it. Beside him stood Lea, dressed in ivory and lace that didn't belong to her, Luna colors she hadn't earned, jewelry at her throat that used to sit in my drawer. Behind them, a dozen senior wolves waited with their eyes down, the way you wait when you already know how something ends and you don't want to be the one who has to watch it happen to your face.

Last time, I had begged. I remembered the taste of it, salt and shame, my knees actually bending before he finished his sentence.

"Anastasia." Collin's voice filled the hall, pitched with just enough Alpha tone to press against my chest like a hand. "You know why you're here. I've been patient. Step down as Luna. Do it quietly, with some dignity, and I won't have to reject you in front of everyone."

Lea's mouth curved. She thought she already had this.

I felt the hall's attention settle on me, waiting for the crack in my voice, the tears, the collapse they'd all seen coming for months. I gave them none of it.

"I, Anastasia Morgan," I said, my voice even, carrying, "reject you, Alpha Collin, as my mate."

The silence afterward had weight. Collin's face went white, then grey. He staggered, one hand flying to his chest as if I'd put a blade through it, and I understood, distantly, almost clinically, that this was what it felt like from the other side—the mate bond tearing loose, ripping through muscle and bone on its way out. Good. Let him feel it.

"You—" He couldn't finish. His Beta lunged forward to catch his arm.

I didn't give them time to recover. "Article Seven of the Inter-Pack Treaty Accord," I said, and pulled the folded paper from inside my jacket, already prepared, already memorized. "A rejected Luna is entitled to half the rejecting Alpha's territory and resources as legal settlement. I claim the southern border lands past Elder Creek, the eastern barracks, the second supply depot, and half of the pack's warrior roster by voluntary transfer." I set the paper on the table before the Beta could speak. "Treaty law. It overrides Alpha authority without unanimous Council consent. You taught me that yourself, Collin. In this very room."

He hadn't. Not really. But I'd lived through enough Council hearings in my last life to know exactly how this clause worked, and exactly how badly it would land on a man who thought his word was the only law that mattered.

Lea's smirk had gone. Her mouth hung open, ugly and stunned.

The mark on my neck—his mark, the one he'd bitten into my skin the night he swore I was his forever—burned white-hot for one second, and then it was gone. I felt it leave. I watched Lea's eyes track the smooth, unmarked skin at my throat, watched her understand what that meant before anyone said it aloud.

"Stop this," Collin ground out, reaching for me, his Alpha tone cracking at the edges like ice under too much weight. "Anastasia, stop—"

I looked at him the way you look at someone you used to know. Nothing more.

Then I turned and walked out of the Ironveil pack house, unhurried, spine straight, and I did not look back once as the great doors swung shut behind me.

The moment my boots crossed onto the land that was legally, finally mine, I severed every mind-link thread connecting me to that pack. All of them. At once.

The silence that followed was the loudest thing I had ever heard—and the first true quiet I'd known in six years. I stood in the open field, breathing, letting it settle into my bones.

I had land. I had warriors. I had a settlement written in ink no Alpha could unwrite.

And I had one name in my head before any other: Nadia. It was time to go find her.
