After His Amnesia, I Severed Our Mate Bond

On the third day after the Alpha lost his memory, I asked him to sever our mate bond. He agreed instantly, as if it were the easiest decision in the world. Although he seemed to have forgotten me, he somehow remembered Zayla, his freshly divorced first love. My request to dissolve our bond conveniently set them free to be together. A month later, he found me with his medical records in hand. His towering frame loomed over me, his broad shoulders casting a shadow. "We were expecting a pup," he said, his deep voice tinged with red, his Alpha aura heavy in the air. I nodded, my voice steady despite the storm inside me. "Yes, we were." "What happened to the pup?" he asked, his voice trembling, the raw power in his tone faltering for the first time. I couldn’t help but chuckle darkly.

Chapter 2

I closed the door to the Alpha’s quarters and made my way to the study. The air felt heavier than usual, as if the weight of the pack’s expectations still lingered in the halls, even now.

Evander’s bookcase stood tall and imposing, filled with volumes on pack history, leadership, and strategy. He was meticulous about his reading habits, always pulling out a book and placing it on the right side of the middle shelf when he was done. My fingers brushed over the spines until I found the bulky notebook I was looking for. I opened it, the pages filled with my thoughts, my secrets, my heart.

*October 16, 2014: The Alpha’s son, Evander, played the violin at the academy’s welcome ceremony. He was mesmerizing. I think I like him.*

The entries were a chronicle of my devotion to him, a love that had once felt unshakable. Tucked between the pages was an ultrasound image, a memory of what could have been.

*January 19, 2023: Evander and I are going to have a pup. I can’t wait to tell him. He’s always talked about wanting an heir to the Silver Moon Pack.*

*January 20, 2023: Evander didn’t come home last night. I thought about using the mind link to tell him about the pregnancy, but I wanted to see his face when I shared the news. He’ll be thrilled.*

*January 21, 2023: Evander said he was on a patrol mission and forgot to tell me. I’ll tell him when he gets back.*

*January 22, 2023: I saw Zayla’s post on the pack’s communication board. Evander was with her. They weren’t on patrol—they were on a private retreat.*

*January 23, 2023: Zayla mind-linked me. She said her bond is officially severed and she wants Evander back. But she’s the one who left him to run off with another pack years ago. Why is she coming back now? I never took him from her, so how can I give him back? The stress made me feel ill, so I went to the healer. She told me to stay calm. It’s all so frustrating.*

*February 24, 2023: Zayla announced her bond dissolution is final, and Evander is going to celebrate with her. My stomach hurt again, and I felt nauseous. I drank a cup of calming tea—bitter, but safe for the pup.*

*February 26, 2023: Evander told me he had to attend a pack meeting and wouldn’t be home that night. But I knew he was going to see Zayla. My dear pup, you might not have a father. I can’t compete with his first mate.*

*February 27, 2023: Evander was injured in a rogue attack late last night. He woke up today remembering everyone—except me. I’ve lost hope.*

I closed the notebook and placed it back on the right side of the middle shelf, where he’d find it eventually. The third drawer of his desk held some of my personal belongings. I slipped the medical records inside and locked it, the key cold in my hand.

Everything toxic needed to end—Zayla, Evander, even his pretentious parents, who had always looked down on me. Alphas and Lunas might command respect, but they weren’t immune to their own flaws. I wasn’t holding out hope for him to change. But once I left, I wasn’t going to let them forget what they’d lost.

The heat radiating from Lennox’s small body was enough to blister my skin. My seven-year-old son lay thrashing on the narrow cot, his breath coming in ragged, wet gasps that rattled in his chest. The shifting fever had come too early, and it was burning him alive. “Momma,” he whimpered, his eyes rolling back. “It… hurts.” “I know, baby, I know.” I pressed a cool, damp cloth to his forehead, my hands trembling. I turned to the heavy oak door, the only barrier between my prison and the rest of the Obsidian Shadow Pack house. I pounded on it with my fist. “Elias! Open the door! He’s crashing!” The lock clicked.

Three years. One thousand and ninety-five days of staring at damp stone walls, breathing in the metallic tang of silver and the rot of my own despair. I had counted every second in the dark, but when the heavy iron door of the asylum cell finally groaned open, the sound was deafening. Two pack warriors stood there. Their faces were impassive, their noses wrinkled against the stench of the cell—the stench of me. I didn't recognize them. New recruits, probably. They didn't see Naomi Bishop, the Luna who had once led them. They only saw a feral, broken thing. "Get up," one barked.

I stood before the full-length mirror in my chamber, fingers trembling as I smoothed down the ceremonial white dress that hugged my curves. Tomorrow would be my marking ceremony with Marcus—the day my fated mate would officially claim me before the entire Moonstone Pack. The thought sent butterflies dancing through my stomach. "You look perfect, Sophia," my mother Elara said, her critical eyes scanning me from head to toe. There was no warmth in her assessment, only calculation. "Remember, the daughter of a Delta warrior rarely secures a Beta as her mate. Don't ruin this opportunity." I nodded obediently, swallowing the familiar ache her words always left. To her, my mating was never about love—only status. "Yes, Mother." *She doesn't understand what we have with Marcus,* Lyra, my wolf, whispered in my mind. My beautiful white wolf with silver-tipped fur had always been my true companion, awakening when I was just twelve—earlier than most.

My Alpha's Regret Novel Cover

When I lost my baby, only five months old, the pain wasn't just physical—it tore through me, an ache so deep it felt like it was shredding my very soul. At that moment, Damien—my mate, Alpha of our pack—was in our bed, tangled up with his mistress. A she-wolf who had made it her mission to provoke me at every turn. ... Pain ripped through me like a storm. One second, I was standing tall during the pack training session. The next, my knees buckled, and I was on the ground, clutching my stomach as my world began to unravel. Something inside me broke—no, shattered. I felt it. My pup. My five-month-old baby. Slipping away. The agony that followed wasn’t just physical; it cut deeper than flesh. It tore at my soul, leaving me raw and gasping for air. Desperate, I reached for Damien through the mate bond, my mind frantically calling out his name. “Damien!” My wolf howled alongside me, pleading for him to answer, to be there. But all I got in return was silence. A deafening, suffocating silence. I tried again, pushing through the haze of pain, my voice trembling in the link. “Damien, please.” Still, nothing. My wolf whimpered, shrinking back as the bond between us flickered weakly, barely holding on. He wasn’t there. He didn’t even feel close. Something about that realization made the pain worse, sharper, as if it wasn’t already unbearable enough. Through the fog of agony, I felt hands on me. Firm but gentle. Gamma Alex. His voice broke through the chaos, calm but strained, as he scooped me up and carried me toward the pack infirmary. I could barely focus on what he was saying; my body was too weak, my mind too full of grief. The scent of blood clung to the air, a cruel reminder of what I’d lost. My head lolled to the side, and that’s when I heard them—two female warriors nearby, their voices low but crystal clear. “I heard he was with her again,” one of them said. “Serena?” “Yeah, in the woods. They’re perfect for each other, aren’t they?”
