After Discovering His Affair Account I Divorced Him Novel Cover

After Discovering His Affair Account I Divorced Him

When I mentioned I was feeling under the weather, Andrew drove through a snowstorm just to see me. From then on, except when it was a matter of principle, this gesture became his ticket to forgiveness. That was until I accidentally discovered his chat records. "The other day, I had a physical need. She was cleaner than the usual ones I hang out with." "Women are always touched by little gestures. Act more emotional and they'll stick with you." *** As I reached for the fruit on the table, Andrew subtly angled his phone away from my view. My gut instinct immediately screamed he was cheating. I realized I hadn't checked Andrew’s phone in ages. When we first got together, I was filled with insecurity and often asked to see his phone to ensure he wasn’t seeing anyone else. Andrew never seemed bothered; he simply smiled and added my fingerprint to his access settings, letting me check it anytime.

Chapter 5

I hadn’t gotten much sleep these past couple of days, and the cold wind didn’t help. After returning home, I came down with a high fever. I took a couple of pills and curled up in bed, hoping to drift off to sleep. But rest eluded me, as the recent events replayed incessantly in my mind.

Andrew, a decently well-known photographer, was often sought out by countless social media influencers for shoots. Once, in a moment of vulnerability, I asked him, "You meet so many beautiful women every day; won't you eventually find me less appealing?"

Andrew looked into my eyes with endless tenderness and said, "You’re my wife; they’re just my clients. Besides, no matter how attractive they are, there are more impressive men pursuing them. Why would they choose me?"

Love made me believe his words naively, but reality always has its way of unraveling illusions. No man is immune to temptation. Andrew simply wasn’t as desirable back then. Looking back, those promises seem laughably empty.

Everyone around us praised Andrew as the ideal husband—high salary, taking care of everything at home, and most importantly, treating me very well.

How well, you ask? Once, when we were in a long-distance relationship, I had a fever over 104 degrees. Hearing this, Andrew braved a snowstorm and drove five hours across the Alps to reach my city. Seeing him at my door, I thought I couldn’t live without him.

Even when Andrew cheated, I wanted to believe his love for me was genuine. Until I found their WhatsApp chat logs.

"Suddenly felt the urge; girlfriend’s cleaner than finding someone new."

"I coaxed her a bit, and we ended up sleeping together—a feverish body over 104 degrees hits different."

Tears flowed uncontrollably, soaking the pillow beneath me. The pain was unbearable. Just a fever, yet why does my whole body ache like this?

I curled up tightly, trying to ease the suffering, but the pain didn’t subside. I bit my lip, clutching the dinner roll tightly, my fingertips growing pale. Without realizing it, I drifted off to sleep amidst the agony.

It's just a grave marker; let her have it," he said, tossing divorce papers in front of me. "She's young and fiery, threatening to abort the baby without proper recognition. Back home, as I packed my bags, I overheard the mocking laughter of his friends. "Now that she's got no parents, Maddox can do whatever he wants with her," one sneered. The roar of jet engines died as our plane touched down at JFK. I gazed out the window at the familiar skyline of New York City, my fingers instinctively reaching for the wedding ring on my left hand—a habit that had become my anchor in uncertain moments. "Are you ready?" Ronan's voice was soft beside me, his hand warm as it covered mine. I nodded, though my heart hammered against my ribs. "As ready as I'll ever be." Two years ago, I'd fled this city a broken woman. Now I was returning as someone else entirely—Gabriella Mitchell, wife of Ronan Mitchell, mother to our two-year-old son Felix. The haute couture Valentino suit I wore was armor of my own choosing, nothing like the designer dresses Greyson once selected for me. "Mommy, where are we?" Felix's innocent voice pulled me from my thoughts as he pressed his face against the window. "We're in New York, sweetheart," I explained, smoothing his dark curls. "We're here to say goodbye to Grandpa." Felix's eyes—so like Ronan's—widened with confusion.
