Chapter 5

"Did she sneak in? Is she trying to embarrass us in front of Mr. Grey?"

"Mr. Salfolk, is this your friend?"

Seeing that I wasn’t looking him in the eye, Levi tightened his sleeves and answered calmly, "No."

Hearing Levi's answer, Rosalie's face lit up as she looked at me haughtily. "Take off the bracelet and get out!"

I looked at her playfully and said with a sneer, "Are you sure you want me to go?"

Humiliated, Rosalie's eyes flashed with fury as she yelled, "What's with the pretense? Take off the bracelet right now!" Then, she came over to grab my bracelet.

I slapped her hand away and moved backward to avoid letting her get near me. Caught off guard, I fell on the ground after someone tripped me, leaving me dazed.

Rosalie stepped on my hand with one foot and forcibly tore the bracelet off my wrist. "You treat this trashy bracelet like it's a treasure."

My hand hurt from being stepped on, and my wrist was all bloody and mangled. I just stared blankly at the broken bracelet and the scattered gems on the ground.

"Carry her and throw her out!" Rosalie had a haughty look on her face.

Immediately, people surrounded me. Seeing someone trying to grab my hands and feet, I immediately struggled and said, "Stop! I'm Axel's..."

Slap!

Before I could finish, Rosalie slapped me in the face. "Are you going to spread rumors that you're Mr. Grey's lover again? Who do you think you are?" Rosalie slapped me again as she was still not satisfied.

I did not want to argue with her during my return this time because there was no need. However, now I would make her pay the price.

Levi crouched down in front of me and wanted to touch the wound on my wrist, but I immediately avoided him. He looked at me coldly.

"Selina, have you had enough? You came here with the bracelet and dressed like this today. You didn't want to lose me after I became rich and wanted me to become jealous, right? Just beg me and I'll say yes."

I sneered and looked at him, saying, "Levi, you're doomed!"

Levi frowned and was about to speak, but found that the place had suddenly quieted down. The guests began to fix their appearances and move toward the entrance.

Levi quickly grabbed me and whispered, "Mr. Grey is here. Behave yourself! Don't worry. Rosalie and I are divorced."

'How ridiculous,' I thought as I rubbed my nearly crushed hand. I only found Levi repulsive. Their divorce was none of my business.

With everyone watching, Axel strode in with our son, Reagan Grey, in his arms.

In the hall, Reagan wriggled free. The adorable kid instantly captivated everyone as soon as he landed on the ground. The nanny trailed close behind, worried that he would fall.

Levi suddenly turned to look at me, saying, "Selina, if you stop your petty jealousy and leave Rosalie alone, I'll forgive you for disappearing for three years. I'll give you a chance to bear me a child — our child."

I remained silent, trying to catch Axel's and Reagan's attention. Finally, Axel followed Reagan over to me.

Awakening From A Toxic Billionaire Marriage Novel Cover
7.9
I woke up in a sterile hospital room, my head split open from a horrific car crash. But the pain in my skull was nothing compared to the memory burned into my retinas just before the impact: my billionaire husband, Dawson, walking into a luxury hotel with a woman who looked exactly like his dead first love. When Dawson finally arrived at the ward, there was no panic or relief in his eyes. He just coldly looked at my bloody bandages. "Your reckless driving just forced me to postpone the quarterly board meeting." Even our seven-year-old son, who I almost died giving birth to, didn't spare me a single glance. He kicked my hospital bed in annoyance. "The Wi-Fi here is garbage. You're a bad mom! Dad said Aunt Angelita should be the one living with us!" My blood turned to ice. For five years, I had bent over backward, wearing the hideous pale dresses he picked, starving myself to maintain a fragile figure, all to be a perfect, obedient substitute for a ghost. And this was what I got. An unfaithful husband who would rather bury me in debt than grant me a divorce, and a son who wished I was dead. The weak, subservient Charlene died on that wet asphalt. When the doctor pointed to Dawson and asked for his name, I looked at my husband with a hollow, defensive stare. "Who are you?" I whispered. Using retrograde amnesia as my shield, I was going to tear their perfect world apart.
