Chapter 1

Kim's POV*

"What the hell is this, Jason?!" I screamed in anger as I stood watching my nightmare unfold before my eyes.

I hoped to God my eyes were playing tricks on me.

Jason my boyfriend was kissing Skyler, my sworn enemy in the locker room.

They were oblivious, lost in their forbidden little paradise.

"Calm down, will you?" he said, jumping away from her " What's wrong?"

" Don't you dare act like you were not kissing her just now!" I retorted sharply.

" Kim... stop being dramatic" he sighed dismissively, trying to look relaxed " You know she's a Cheerleader, we were just talking about the game".

" I guess you couldn't hear each other unless your tongues were practically down your throats" I shot back.

I could not believe he just tried to gaslight me.

Skyler stood beside him, looking relaxed.

A wicked smile spread across her lips. She was obviously enjoying the drama she orchestrated.

" How could you do this to me, Jason?" I asked with a shaky voice, "What have I ever done to you to deserve this?"

He made to approach me, his arms outstretched. His eyes pleaded.

Skyler dragged him back with a scowl on her face.

" What are you doing, J?" she hissed at him " You're seriously trying to apologise to this skank while I'm here?".

His lips parted as he tried to say something. She shot him a strong glare.

He gazed down at his sneakers, looking defeated.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

I just walked in on my boyfriend, who I've been dating since middle school, kissing another girl.

Not just any other girl, it was Skyler Mendez. My bully and sworn enemy.

And now she seemed to have him wrapped around her finger.

" Look babe, this is all a misunderstanding..." he said, walking towards me

" You can fucking go to hell" I snapped, stormed out of the locker room.

The tears came gushing quickly. I couldn't stop the little sobs racking my body.

My knees were like jelly and my heart was heavier than wet bricks.

I literally ran through the hallway with tears welling up in my eyes. Everything seemed to move in a blur.

Just when I thought I'd had enough unpleasant encounters for the day...

I collided with a large, sweaty mass of chiselled muscle.

" Hey watch it!!" a deep baritone voice said.

" You watch where you're going, Stupid" I shot back, wiping my eyes to clear the blur.

He towered over me. Standing with his teammates, all of them staring at me in unison.

But his eyes. Those hazel blue eyes, pierced through me the most.

He looked familiar, though I couldn't remember where I saw him before.

" If you're going to cry and walk around blindly, why don't you take it off the hallway" he sneered at me.

" The hallway is not your property, I'll walk it when I please" I said, brushing past him " Now if you'll please get out of my way"

" Come on, Scott ... she's not worth your time" I heard another voice say.

I kept waltzing down the hallway. Focused on getting to class to cry my heart out.

" Hey Kim wait up, will you" someone called out behind me.

I wiped my eyes for the umpteenth time and looked back.

It was my best friends, Allison and Becca.

They were running towards me. My backpack in their hands

" Thanks a lot guys" I said, sombre as they handed me my backpack

" What's wrong with you, Kim?" Becca asked looking concerned " I just saw you fighting with the new student"

" It's nothing really" I replied

" Then why were you crying in the ...?"

" I said it's nothing" I snapped at her.

I sighed as I watched their faces turn from curiosity to concern.

" I saw Jason making out with Skyler in the locker room" I said, looking down at my shoes.

" Oh my God!!... I am so sorry" Allison exclaimed, hugging me tightly.

" Wait a second" Becca cut in " Do you mean Skyler, like Skyler's child of the devil' Mendez?"

" Yeah, that's her middle name"

"I thought she was going out with Dylan from the School's basketball team"

" Well, I just saw her sticking her tongue down Jason's throat" I hissed

" So... does that mean you're not watching the game tonight?" Allison asked tentatively " Vincent asked me to come watch him play today"

" We're here if you need anything" said Becca

" Don't worry about me, go ahead. I'll just head home" I mumbled

" Alright then, see you tomorrow" she said, hugging me one more time.

The tightness in my chest came rushing back as I watched them turn around and head for the gym.

I stepped into the classroom, trying to walk to my desk.

Still staring at my feet, I felt a hand grab my hair from behind me and pull me to the ground.

I groaned in pain. My ribs were aching like hell.

They surrounded me. Skyler and her stupid friends, Veronica and Camille.

I looked around as they towered over me, their faces filled with mischievous grins... except for Skyler.

The other students gathered around us but no one dared intervene for fear of Skyler and her minions.

I looked around, but there was no sign of Becca or Allison. I was on my own.

Veronica and Camille picked me up roughly before I could get a chance to stand.

They both twisted my arms behind my back and held me against the wall.

Skyler kept looking at me with hate and disgust.

" I told you to stop coming to the locker room, bitch" she seethed, coming ever so close to me" You'll never be one of us".

I toyed with the idea of giving her a headbutt.

" Don't you have somewhere else better to be?" I asked, glaring at her "Surely you don't want to miss jumping around and screaming like a broken gramophone with glued confetti for this"

"I got all the time in the world for you today" she said

I scoffed. " Is that why you had to start your day making out with my boyfriend? Just because you couldn't stop thinking about me?"

" I wonder what gives you the confidence to speak to her like that?" Veronica chipped in.

" Well, I wonder how your friend here juggles being a cheerleader and a cheap slut ... must be hard" I sneered.

Skyler smacked me hard across the face. I lunged towards her in blinding rage, but her friends pulled me back.

" I see you're in the mood to run that little mouth of yours" she said calmly

" Oh I can do more than that, you've just got to ask your two little groupies to let go of me" I shot back, still struggling against their grip.

" Let me warn you, I don't want to see you anywhere near Jason" she whispered, grabbing my chin and bringing her face close " Maybe when I'm done with your pathetic boyfriend, you can come take what's left of him"

I saw red.

I instinctively threw back my head and brought it forward with all the force I could muster.

The satisfying thud as my head met her face was followed by gasps

My hair covered my face but I could hear the pain in her whimpering.

She staggered back, looking dizzy.

I got her good

" You fucking bitch!!" she bellowed, lunging forward

I closed my eyes, bracing myself for the punch..

" Hey Stop it, will you?!!" an angry voice commanded.
