Chapter 5

Maria kept screaming at every shot she heard. She even tripped and fell down because of how they had just hidden and run.

"Remove my chains so I can move properly!" Maria yelled at the two women because of her annoyance.

Her face and chest must have hurt from falling because the two women were pulling her. The two women looked at each other as if they were still reluctant to follow Maria's words.

"What now? Are you going to wait for every part of my body to break before you untie me?" Maria widened her eyes at the two.

Mimi sighed and motioned for Lala to untie Maria. Lala nodded and quickly untied Maria while Mimi continued to fire back and forth at their enemies.

"Thank you," Maria said when her chains were removed.

"Hide behind us no matter what happens, don't leave." Lala ordered Maria.

Maria nodded and hid behind the two girls. Maria's eyes were wide open all around even though her whole body was shaking with the mixed emotions she was feeling. Although Maria was nervous, she tried to keep her brain working at that moment. Because that was the perfect timing for her to escape from Anghel's hands. No matter what, Maria was already praying that she wouldn't be hit by a stray bullet as she escaped.

"Lala, where is Maria!" Mimi shouted when she turned to look at her.

Lala quickly looked back at Maria who was hiding behind her but she was gone.

"Bullsh*t! Where did she go, she was just here earlier," Lala said bluntly.

"We'll catch up with the boss, she's really stubborn!" Mimi exclaimed as she pulled the trigger of her gun and it killed the enemy.

Suddenly, the two's movements and actions changed from their modest and innocent aura to their tough and combative aura. They agreed to separate directions to find Maria.

While Maria, when she saw an opportunity that Lala and Mimi wouldn't notice her, quickly crawled away from the two. She hid and moved from place to place. She tried to sharpen her eyes on where she could exit the said house. When she saw the back door open to the end of the said yard, she ran. She had hope that she could escape from that hellish place. She didn't care about the danger around her, what was important to her at that moment was to get away from the said place.

Maria climbed the wall, fortunately she knew how to climb coconut trees, the others. She struggled but laughed when she was able to jump from the other side with tears flowing. She didn't waste a moment, she ran quickly, without looking back. He just focused on the path he was taking and his laughter was replaced by a sweet smile. His chest gradually became lighter, he was free! He managed to escape from Anghel's lair and he was grateful to the people who invaded his house. Because if it weren't for them, he wouldn't have been given the chance to escape and be free.

"What?! You can't find Maria? How could that happen if you said she was just behind you!" Anghel was so angry that he almost tore the ligament in his neck.

Everyone was down, some were wounded including Lala and Mimi so they couldn't reach Maria. Good thing they were able to call back up right away so none of them were killed.

"Sorry boss," everyone said in unison.

They were almost deafened by Anghel firing his gun. His jaws were clenching and his teeth were grinding against each other. Then he closed his eyes tightly, obviously trying to calm himself down.

"Find her! No matter where on earth she is, do you understand? Maria is mine, she is mine!" He shouted but firmly with his burning eyes.

"I will follow you boss!" Everyone answered in unison and the others moved to continue searching for Maria.

"He doesn't know this place, he'll definitely get confused and won't be able to get away just like that. The rest, go back to his Uncle and keep an eye on him, maybe he'll come back. The rest, to his friends and to his girlfriend's house!" Anghel ordered again.

"Gab, what about the wounded?"

Pilo asked.

Anghel violently confronted Pilo and slapped him.

"How many times do I have to tell you never to call me by my real name?" The woman was angry.

Pilo then went over, not realizing that he had uttered their Master's real name. Anghel strictly forbade that, especially in front of other people. But that was what they were all used to, so they still kept repeating it until that time.

"I'm sorry, boss, it won't happen again." Pilo apologized.

"It definitely won't happen again because I'll cut out your tongue if you do it again." Anghel threatened.

Pilo nodded.

"Take the wounded to Doc Wally right now." Anghel ordered.

The others moved quickly, Anghel took his mobile phone and dialed. He moved away from his men a little when the person he called answered.

Meanwhile, Maria was very tired from her running. She was also very thirsty and was panting because she didn't stop even for a moment in her running until she got far enough from Anghel's house. The mountains were the first place she went but she glanced to her left and it seemed like she saw a road so she changed direction. And she wasn't wrong, it was a road and she knew that there were few cars passing by. But she still tried to wait by walking slowly. She looked behind her in case a car was coming. Even in front of her, what was important to her was to get on board and get away from where she came from.

Maria stopped for a moment and thought carefully about which direction she really should be going and parked her car. She prayed and asked God for help and to show her the right way back to their place. Maria was encouraged when she saw a car coming and immediately stopped it. She really stood in the middle so that the driver had no choice but to stop.

"Brother please help me can I get on your truck?" Maria begged the truck driver.

It contained vegetables and fruits that were probably going to be taken to a larger market.

The driver hesitated and looked Maria from head to toe. The driver was old and Maria could see that this old woman was also with him.

"I'm not a bad person, I'm begging you. I was kidnapped and escaped, I don't know what place this is." Maria said with tears in her eyes.

The young woman saw that the couple, who were probably married, looked at each other. Then the old man looked at Maria sadly again.

"Where are you going?" The old man asked.

"To San Sebastian," Maria quickly answered.

"That's where we're going to deliver to the town." The old man replied.

How happy Maria felt that God had heard her prayer.

"Go up behind and hide there because there is a checkpoint near here before we pass this place." The old man said to Maria.

"Really?! Thank you very much, you fell from the sky," Maria exclaimed happily and hurriedly climbed into the back of the truck.

She covered herself with the tarpaulin that was there and squeezed in between the baskets and whatever else was there. Maria made sure that no one would see her in the back of the truck. When Maria felt the truck start moving, she only then breathed a sigh of relief. At the same time as she wiped her tears, a smile appeared on her lips along with the hope that Anghel would never find her again.
