“No, I’m begging you to let me go.” I try harder to resist them, fighting the two of them to let me go.

I get panicked as all I can see is a dark, scary, and damp forest. If I die there by them, there is no way anyone would notice me. It feels like that wood is the perfect place to commit a crime, the perfect grave to bury my body without a trace.

She is speaking nonsense.

How her eyes are burning with anger, how her hand keeps trying to pull my hair, tells me that she is not sane.

I should make her let me go; I might make her change her mind.

I tried to look at her calmly. “Emma, you know that you can’t do this to me.” I tried to make her regain her sanity.

Hoping that it would make her let me go.

“You will regret what you do to me right now, so let me go.” I emphasized that to her.

I wish she would change her mind, but her fierce eyes tell me another thing.

She calmed instantly and brought her face to my face. “I’m not joking by saying I’m gonna make you disappear. But, I’ll give you a chance.”

Something tells me it's gonna get worse. She is calm in this situation. I gulped as my heart beat was getting fast. I could hardly breathe, and watching them give signals to each other gave me tension.

I look at Emma, who is averting her eyes to the guy who guards me. “I wish for both of your help, my dear brother.”

“Sure my dear sister, anything you say and we’ll do it right away.” They smiled at her.

Brother? I'm stunned.

So they are her brother?

Emma smiled, looking at me with her innocent face. “Now, I will give you a chance, Maddie.”

I fix my eyes on her, and hear what she's gonna talk about. “What is it?” I wait for her answer.

She smiled even harder, looking at her brother like she show them that they heard what I said. “Look at you getting so motivated.” She mocked me. “I'm being generous to you. You can run from this place. I’ll give you 30 seconds to run.”

I got my hope up, but not for that long, till I heard her talk again, “But after that they will run after you. If you succeed, you will be safe, but if you are caught, today will be the last day you can breathe Maddie. How about that?”

I stare at her. That's not an option at all.

They seem much stronger than I, and I can sense it. I can’t see myself getting lost by their grip, but maybe by miracle it might happen.

Rather than giving my life to them just like that without even trying to fight back. I should take it as my last hope.

I give no answer, but of course, I will do anything for my life. For my safety.

She gave me a bitter smile. “Just you know, you will never escape Maddie.” She started to count.

I panicked and ran as fast as I could. But my legs are way slower than theirs. 30 seconds were just wasted as I saw them chasing behind me at high speed.

They move really fast, keep getting closer and closer to me.

I got chilled, I bit my lips, and tried to move faster than before.

One of them was exactly beside me, his face grinning like a horror movie. “I will take a turn to pull your hand off, my dear.”

I got frightened and stumbled into something. My body crashed into the trees. I feel pain in my shoulder and my ribs, yet I try to wake and run again.

But my hand got pulled; they are really about to break my hand. I scream like crazy and try hard to get away. I got my sleeve torn by them, and looking at it made me even more scared.

The fact that I’m gonna be killed there that instant feels so real.

As he put me down on the other cliff, he stood facing the direction where I was about to jump, where Emma and her brother were chasing me.

My eyes got fixed on his broad shoulder, his figure giving me security that I long for. At that time, I’m sure that this day will bring me back alive.
