Rejected by the False Alpha, Embraced by Fate

Something was wrong. I could feel it through our mate bond, a foreign sensation that didn't belong to me or Easton. My fingers trembled as I touched the mark on my neck—his mark—that had once been a symbol of our eternal connection. I followed the sensations like a trail of breadcrumbs through the pack house, my heart pounding against my ribs. The feeling grew stronger as I approached Easton's private office. I'd supported him for ten years, from a lowly pack member to the powerful Alpha of Moonridge Pack. I'd sacrificed everything for him, even my ability to bear children after saving his life from that rogue attack. My hand hesitated on the doorknob. What if I was wrong? What if this was just another misunderstanding?

Chapter 1

But the sensations pulled me forward, undeniable now. I pushed open the door.

Time seemed to stop. Easton had Lorelai Mitchell pressed against his desk, her legs wrapped around his waist as he devoured her neck. The young she-wolf from the visiting pack moaned softly, her eyes closed in ecstasy.

"Sophia," Easton said, not bothering to disentangle from Lorelai. His voice was cold, detached. "You shouldn't eavesdrop on your Alpha."

"I'm your Luna," I whispered, my voice breaking. "Your mate."

Lorelai's eyes opened, and a smile curved across her lips—not embarrassment, but satisfaction. She knew exactly what she was doing.

"I've made my decision," Easton said, finally stepping away from Lorelai. "The pack needs heirs, and you've failed to provide them."

"I got hurt saving your life!" The words tore from my throat. "Those rogues nearly killed me!"

"And I've appreciated your sacrifice," he replied, straightening his shirt. "But the pack must come first. I intend to keep both my fated Luna and my chosen mate."

---

The pack assembly hall buzzed with whispers as I stood alone on the platform, the empty space beside me a gaping wound. Easton had called an emergency meeting, and now every member of Moonridge Pack watched with curious eyes.

"Today I announce a change in our pack structure," Easton's voice boomed across the hall. "As Alpha, I have decided to take Lorelai Mitchell as my chosen mate while retaining Sophia as Luna."

Gasps rippled through the crowd. My nails dug into my palms as I fought to maintain my composure. Beside me, Easton continued speaking, but his words blurred together.

"This arrangement will ensure the future of our pack," he declared. "Lorelai will provide the heirs we need, while Sophia will continue her duties as Luna."

Lorelai stepped forward, her hand possessively on Easton's arm as she gazed out at the pack with triumph in her eyes.

"I have something to say," I finally managed, my voice carrying across the suddenly silent hall.

Easton's eyes flashed dangerously. "You will not speak without permission, Luna."

"I am still your Luna," I insisted, straightening my spine. "And I deserve—"

"Sophia Hall," he cut me off, his Alpha tone vibrating through the air. "Kneel."

The command hit me like a physical blow. My knees buckled against my will, sending me crashing to the floor before the entire pack. Shame burned through me as I knelt there, forced into submission by the mate bond and his Alpha authority.

"Never question me again," he growled, low enough that only I could hear. "You are Luna by title only now."

---

"Such a shame about the assembly," Lorelai's voice dripped with false sympathy as she approached me in the garden days later. "It must be so difficult for you."

I stiffened, turning to face her. "What do you want, Lorelai?"

"Just to talk," she said, her eyes wide with practiced innocence. "Woman to woman. I know this is... complicated."

Against my better judgment, I found myself responding to her apparent kindness. "It's more than complicated. It's humiliating."

"I can imagine," she nodded, sitting beside me on the bench. "Easton told me about the training sessions in the northern clearing. He's so worried about rogue attacks there."

Something in her tone made me pause. "Why would he tell you about that?"

"Oh, we talk about everything now," she smiled. "The warriors' rotation schedule, the patrol routes... I find it all so fascinating."

As we continued talking, I found myself revealing more than I intended—pack security protocols, training schedules, patrol routes. Lorelai listened intently, asking just the right questions to draw out information.

Two weeks later, rogues attacked the northern clearing during a secret training session. Three warriors died, and Lorelai stood before the pack with fabricated evidence—a journal she claimed was mine, detailing pack secrets I'd supposedly revealed to enemies.

"I'm so sorry, Sophia," she said, her eyes gleaming with malice beneath her mask of concern. "But I couldn't stay silent about your betrayal."

On the night of our third anniversary as mates, I sat in the grand hall of the Adams Pack territory, surrounded by the elite of the werewolf world. The air was thick with the mingling scents of power and ambition, the kind that only Alphas and their inner circles could exude. Rowan, my mate and Beta of the Adams Pack, had told me he was away on pack business. Yet there he was, standing at the center of the room, his arm draped around Blair Bell, his old flame and the pack’s most conniving Omega. His dark eyes gleamed with a satisfaction that made my stomach churn, and his broad shoulders, once a source of comfort, now seemed to radiate arrogance. Before I could confront him, I overheard a group of Deltas nearby, their voices dripping with mockery. “Now that Blair’s back, when are you going to drop your substitute Luna?” one of them asked, nudging Rowan with a smirk. Rowan chuckled, his deep voice cutting through the noise of the gathering. “Anytime,” he replied, his tone casual, as though he were discussing the weather. My heart shattered into pieces, the bond between us screaming in protest.
