Rejected After Bleeding Out For His Unworthy Heir Novel Cover

Rejected After Bleeding Out For His Unworthy Heir

The day I gave birth, I was in labor for three days and three nights, and Nolan Vasquez stood outside the door the entire time. I thought he was there, concerned for my well-being, watching over me. But later, when I hemorrhaged after delivering our pup and needed the rare medicinal herb to save my life, Nolan took it from my attendant’s hands in the chaos. “You’ve already given birth,” he said, his voice dismissive. “You don’t need this herb anymore. I’m taking it to Ruth—she might not survive without it!” “I’ll make it up to you later with something better. Don’t be petty about this.” I watched, my heart shattering, as he walked away without a second thought, the herb in his hands, destined for Ruth Cooper. Three years of marking, three years of giving everything to him, and I had just risked my life to bring our pup into the world. Yet, it all meant nothing compared to her discomfort. Fine.

Chapter 3

For days, Nolan didn’t set foot in my quarters.

From what I gathered from the Omegas who served me, he had been staying in his office, and Ruth Cooper had already taken over managing the front of the packhouse.

When Ruth came to visit me, she went on and on about how well she treated the Omegas, clearly trying to win over the ones who still served me.

“I’m not as skilled as you are at managing things, so why don’t you take the storage keys and handle everything?”

I instructed Abby to bring the keys and handed them to Ruth. If anything went wrong with the pack’s resources now, it wouldn’t be on me.

“Well, I won’t refuse such an offer!”

Ruth’s eyes lit up as she took the keys, clutching them to her chest as if I might snatch them back.

The next day, Ruth transferred all the Omegas from my quarters to serve at the front, even cutting back on the supplies allocated to my area.

By noon, no one had brought food.

Leslie, the Omega caretaker responsible for nursing Koen, couldn’t produce enough milk because she wasn’t getting enough to eat herself. Koen was hungry and began to cry, soon developing a high fever.

“Go and find the Healer, quickly!”

I paced anxiously, constantly touching Koen’s forehead.

I’d heard stories of pups not surviving high fevers, and we needed the Healer immediately.

But Ruth wouldn’t let the Omegas leave. Abby returned in tears, begging me to do something.

I stormed into the front of the packhouse to confront Ruth. “Koen is sick! I need to get the Healer right now, I can’t wait!”

“Don’t make this about petty jealousy. I’m begging you!”

My eyes pleaded with her. I was willing to do anything if she’d just let me leave to find help.

But she just said, “Pups get sick all the time. Go back and soothe him.”

When I tried to push past her with Abby, the Omegas at the front held me back.

“Alpha Nolan said everything here is under my control. Genevieve, you’ve crossed me. Someone, teach her a lesson!”

At Ruth’s signal, two Omegas stepped forward and slapped me hard across the face.

“Ruth, this is also Nolan’s pup!” I said, my voice trembling.

Ruth replied indifferently, “Just a pup. If he dies, he dies. I’ll give Alpha Nolan a stronger heir soon enough.”

She smiled sweetly and added, “If you still want to leave, why don’t you kneel and beg me properly?”

She looked down at me, her fingers tilting my chin up.

“Please, let me go. I’m begging you, please forgive me!”

Tears streamed down my face as I struggled to kneel and lower my head twice.

“Not hard enough. Do it again!”

Ruth had someone bring her a chair. She lounged in the sunlight, admiring her slender hands while spouting her venom.

I lowered my head again and again, until blood streaked my forehead.

I couldn’t feel the pain anymore. There was only one thought in my mind: I had to save Koen.

“Luna, it’s bad—the pup, he’s…”

An Omega ran over, crying and collapsing to her knees.

Ruth’s face paled for a moment, but she quickly composed herself.

“This isn’t my fault. You were too slow, and now you’ve killed your own pup!”

She turned and fled with her Omegas.

My mind went blank. I stumbled to my feet and ran back to my quarters.

The ornate invitation felt heavier than it should in my trembling hands. Golden script danced across cream-colored paper, each letter perfectly formed in elegant calligraphy that screamed wealth and privilege. "Luna Julissa White of the Shadowcrest Pack requests the healing services of Emily Turner for her beloved companion, Max. Payment: $50,000 upon successful completion." Fifty thousand dollars. The exact amount Charles and I needed to finally pay off his parents' remaining medical debts. After seven long years of scraping together every penny from my healer's assistant wages, this single job would free us from the financial burden that had defined our relationship. "This is it, Em." Charles's warm breath tickled my ear as he read over my shoulder, his arms wrapping around my waist from behind. "Once you heal Luna Julissa's wolf, we'll finally be debt-free. We can start planning our future properly—maybe even think about the marking ceremony." My heart fluttered at his words. The marking ceremony.

The familiar oak door to Axton's office stood slightly ajar, warm afternoon light spilling through the gap like an invitation I should have ignored. My fingers tightened around the stack of territorial reports I'd come to deliver, the papers crinkling softly as I approached. The pack house hummed with its usual activity—distant conversations, footsteps on hardwood floors, the comforting sounds of home. Then I caught it. The scent hit me like a physical blow, stopping me mid-step just outside the doorway. Axton's familiar pine and earth scent, yes, but intertwined with something else. Something that made my wolf recoil in instinctive recognition and rage. Marigold's sweet jasmine and vanilla, but not just present—mingled. Intimate. The kind of scent fusion that only happened when wolves were in close physical contact, when barriers dissolved and souls touched.

The marble floor was cold beneath my raw, bleeding knees. I scrubbed harder, trying to erase the mud stains from the entrance hall, though my hands trembled with exhaustion. Above me, the Shadowfang Pack's grand Luna Ceremony was in full swing—crystal chandeliers casting golden light over polished wooden floors, expensive wine flowing freely as Thaddeus's loyalists celebrated his official claiming of Virginia Simmons as his Luna. My back ached from the weight of silver chains wrapped around my torso—not enough to kill me, just enough to remind everyone that I was nothing more than an omega prisoner in what was once my home. "Look at her," a passing she-wolf whispered to her companion, her expensive gown rustling as she deliberately stepped around me. "The pathetic little wolfless freak." They thought I couldn't hear them. They thought wrong. Six months ago, I had been Scarlett Andrews, eldest daughter of the Moonstone Pack, with my own wolf—a magnificent silver-white creature with ethereal blue eyes. Now I was... nothing.

In my previous life, I, Claire Holloway, was eight months pregnant, kneeling in a storm, begging Lucas Ashford to save the bankrupt Holloway family. But he held his first love, Vanessa Wren, in his arms, looking down at me with cold disdain. "The Holloway family's downfall was orchestrated by me. Did you really think I'd fall for a spoiled rich girl like you? If it weren't for getting my revenge today, I'd have found even touching you disgusting." In despair, I died that freezing night—two lives lost with me. When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the day I was diagnosed with pregnancy. Lucas was gently peeling shrimp for me, smiling as he asked what kind of diamond ring I wanted. I looked at his hypocritical face and let out a quiet, cold laugh. This time, I wouldn't make the same mistake again.

And she had just executed the most pathetic plot in the book: hiding in the closet to seduce her cold, ruthless legal guardian, Hayward. It was the exact move that got the original Helena thrown out on the street to die. "Helena, your time is up. Get out." Hayward's freezing voice came from the other side of the door. He didn't just reject her. He threatened to strip her of her trust fund and permanently lock her in a psychiatric ward. Everyone in the massive estate despised her, treating her like trash. To force her to break, Hayward exiled her to the company's worst design department, a graveyard for corporate failures. At the same time, her innocent step-sister, the novel's female lead, was being cornered and harassed by a predatory manager. Helena was suffocating under the original owner's ruined reputation. She was surrounded by hostile eyes, everyone just waiting for her to throw a tantrum and completely self-destruct. Why should she be forced to pay the ultimate price for the original villain's deadly mistakes? Instead of screaming or begging, Helena wrapped herself in an oversized coat and played the perfect, submissive lunatic to survive. She completely flipped the script and took the terrified female lead under her wing. When that manager tried to lay a hand on her new sister, Helena didn't hesitate to crush his foot with her stiletto.
