Chapter 5

05||~ Atria.

I thought I knew pain.

That a decade of torture had shaped my level of tolerance but it turned out that I was wrong.

That decade old pain was nothing compared to the one that had been inflicted on me since I arrived at this dreadful place.

My limbs grew heavy in his arms, my hands were useless.

" I will kill you!" The Alpha King snarled, a crazed look in his eyes as he strangled me.

For a brief second- my life flashed in my eyes and a cold realization settled in.

I won't make it.

Suddenly, the hand around my neck disappeared and I fell to the floor, clutching my throat, sputtering and greedily drinking in air like a starved man.

" Get out of my way!" The Alpha King roared, making me lift my head up to see that a large shadow stood before me, blocking me from the Alpha King's sight.

"You have the wrong person, brother, this girl isn't the one who killed her!" Walrick explained, not bulging.

I couldn't see the Alpha King's expression but his next words made me shudder. " Don't get in my way, Walrick or I wouldn't care that you are my brother."

My heart was in my throat as I pressed myself into the wall. Once again, I was about to pay for someone else's crime.

Walrick didn't move. " No!"

I didn't know if I should be relieved that he wanted me alive or if he had other plans for doing so.

A large roar shook the whole room, and in an instant, The Alpha King grabbed Walrick by the neck and flung him aside.

The force slammed him into wall beside the bed and he let out a sharp hiss. The Alpha King spun around to face me.

I pressed myself to the wall, fingers clutched tight while gazing at his cold eyes that glared at me like he couldn't wait to dismember in the most painful, most gruesome way.

A whimper escaped my lips . My wrists were still bleeding from where Myxera had cut it earlier, my body still had unhealed wounds from last night and many other days.

I was thoroughly exhausted.

If he really wanted to kill me then there was no escaping him. Despite how hopeless the situation was, a stubborn thought clung to me like the devil itself.

I didn't want to die.

I needed to stay alive no matter what, no matter who my opponent was.

"I-i." My throat stung as I tried to speak yet I gritted my teeth and continued. "I am not the one you want." My voice cracked. " I am not Tabitha."

However, the words didn't have the desired effects, instead the Alpha King seemed to grow more aggressive.

With a loud snarl, he lunged for me.

At that instant, a body rushed forward and slammed into his from the side, throwing him off balance.

"Valric, get a hold of yourself." Walrick snapped, struggling to subdue his crazy brother. "Tayla isn't dead, she betrayed you! "

"Lies!" The Alpha King snarled, flinging his brother away once again.

Walrick landed in his feet this time, he was swift as he hurled himself into his brother once again, making the both of them tumble to the ground. " I am not lying, have you forgotten how she left you to bleed to death in your own puddle of blood!"

The word did the trick, the Alpha King stumbled back, finger clutched tight until his knuckles whitened. Just when I thought he would return to his senses, he suddenly yelled.

"No! You are lying to me! You are lying to me!" Jaw tight, he spun around, eyes scanning the room untill his crazy gaze locked onto mine. "It was her! She killed Tayla."

A chill ran down my spine.

In turn, Walrick darted forward to cut off his gaze off me. " Run!" He whispered.

I didn't need to be told twice. I scampered to my feet in a pitiful attempt to run, but my body was uncooperative, my knees gave up and I dropped to the ground, falling face first.

My heart sank.

No! This can't be happening!

Not now. I needed to get away. With a grunt, I began to dragged myself across the floor, leaving behind the snarls and growls of the two brothers.

Still yet, I didn't get too far before a clawed hand grabbed my ankle. I screamed, crawling more frantically. "Let me go! I didn't kill anyone!" I cried like a mad woman, finger digging into the floor just to keep moving.

The Alpha King dragged me back and turned me around.

He was on top of me now, his hand around my throat. " You killed her! It was you!" His hair fell around his head with the force of his movement.

At that moment, he was like a mad man who couldn't see or hear reason and If it weren't for his pale face, I wouldn't believe that he had been in a coma for four years.

I fought to get his hands off me, scratching and hitting him anywhere I could, but nothing worked.

Fear slithered through me like snake.

I couldn't breath, my face grew paler with each passing moment and I knew that my end was near. No! No! I didn't want to die.

I don't want to die!

I don't want to die.

I don't want to die!

I chanted hysterically in my mind.

Then it happened- my hand moved on its own like I wasn't in control of it. I pressed my thumb to his forehead, then a chocked command escaped my lips. "LET. GO. OF. ME!!"

Something happened at that moment, a strange force suddenly filed the room and the Alpha King recoiled from me like my touch burned.

Once again, I found myself sputtering and gulping in air like a fish out of water.

Just then, the large door of the bedroom opened. "Goddess, what happened here?!" Myxera's exclaimed.

I didn't look at her, my gaze was fixed on the Alpha King who was now more than five feet step away from me. His jaw was slack, his mouth slightly opened as he stared at me.

"W-what did you just do to me?" He demanded. There was no anger in his voice anymore, just pure confusion and shock.

My lips parted but nothing came out. At this time, the Alpha King was sizing me up like I was a monster.

Fear tightened my throat and I stared at my trembling hands as if seeking the answer.

What in the world just happened?
