From Omega to Lycan Princess

The monthly pack gathering was always a special event for me. As an Omega in the Silverfang Pack, these nights were rare occasions when I could feel like I belonged. Tonight was extra special—I'd been planning to surprise Cristian with the news that I'd finally completed my thesis on ancient Lycan migration patterns, something that had taken months of research. I smoothed down my simple blue dress—the nicest one I owned—and touched the silver ring on my finger for reassurance. It was my only heirloom, though few knew its true significance. "You look beautiful tonight, Lexi," Elena, my roommate and closest friend, whispered as we entered the community hall. "Are you going to tell him how you feel?" I nodded, clutching my folder of research papers tighter. "I think tonight's the perfect night." The hall was already packed with pack members. Music played from somewhere in the corner, and the scent of food and excitement filled the air. I scanned the room for Cristian's tall figure, my heart racing at the thought of seeing him.

Chapter 1

"Are you going to tell him how you feel?"

I nodded, clutching my folder of research papers tighter. "I think tonight's the perfect night."

The hall was already packed with pack members. Music played from somewhere in the corner, and the scent of food and excitement filled the air. I scanned the room for Cristian's tall figure, my heart racing at the thought of seeing him.

Then I saw him.

My breath caught in my throat. There he was—my mate, my future, the man I'd loved since I first felt our bond two years ago—lounging on the main couch with his arm draped casually around Sasha Berry's waist.

Sasha. The high-ranking Beta with her perfect blonde hair and designer clothes. The woman who always looked at me like I was dirt beneath her expensive shoes.

She was feeding him pieces of fruit from a silver platter, giggling as he leaned in to take each bite from her fingers. His eyes were half-closed in pleasure, his body language screaming intimacy.

"Lexi?" Elena's concerned voice pulled at me. "Do you want to leave?"

I couldn't move. Couldn't breathe. The folder in my hands suddenly felt heavy, ridiculous. My research. My love. My mate who couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge me.

*What are you doing with her?* I pushed through our mind-link, the connection that had always been there since the day we met. *Cristian, I'm here. Your mate is here.*

His head snapped up, eyes narrowing as they found mine across the crowded room. For a moment, something flickered in his gaze—guilt? Annoyance? But then his expression hardened.

*You're being dramatic again,* his voice echoed in my mind. *Sasha is just a friend. Stop making everything so possessive.*

"But I'm your mate," I whispered aloud, not realizing I'd spoken until Elena squeezed my arm.

Sasha's perfectly manicured hand slid up Cristian's chest, her red lips curving into a smile as she leaned closer to him. "Is that little Omega bothering you again?" she stage-whispered, loud enough for nearby pack members to hear.

"She's just confused about pack dynamics," Cristian replied, not bothering to lower his voice. "She'll learn."

Something inside me snapped. Two years of hiding my feelings, of being the perfect, understanding mate while he paraded around with her. Two years of excuses and broken promises.

I pushed through the crowd toward them, my research forgotten on a side table. "Cristian," I said, my voice shaking but determined. "We need to talk."

Sasha's eyes widened in mock fear. "Cristian! She's coming over here—she looks so angry!"

As if on cue, tears welled in her eyes. "She's always so clingy," she sobbed. "I just wanted to be your friend."

Cristian's arm tightened around her shoulders. "Lexi, back off."

"Not until we talk," I insisted, stepping closer. "You can't just ignore our bond—"

Pack members around us began murmuring, some pushing me back. "Leave them alone," someone hissed. "Can't you see they're together?"

"I'm his mate!" I protested, my voice rising. "We're bonded by the Moon Goddess!"

More hands shoved me backward. I stumbled, losing my balance as someone pushed harder than necessary.

"No!" I cried out as I fell backward toward the glass coffee table someone had abandoned in the middle of the room.

The crash was deafening. Glass shattered beneath me, slicing into my arms and legs as I hit the floor. Pain exploded through my body, warm blood trickling down my skin.

"Cristian!" I gasped through our mind-link and aloud. "Help me!"

But he wasn't looking at me. He was cradling Sasha, who had dramatically covered her face and was trembling in his arms.

"She threatened me," Sasha whimpered. "She's dangerous when she's jealous."

"ENOUGH!" Cristian's Alpha tone vibrated through the room, forcing everyone into silence. His eyes, cold and unfamiliar, finally met mine. "You've embarrassed yourself enough for one night, Lexi."

He turned away, lifting Sasha gently as if she were made of glass. "Let's get you somewhere safe," he murmured to her, completely ignoring his bleeding mate lying amid shattered glass.

Blood seeped into my blue dress, staining it crimson as tears blurred my vision. The pain in my heart far outweighed the cuts on my skin.

And in that moment, as pack members stared and whispered around me, I realized that the mate bond I'd cherished for two years meant nothing at all to him.

The scent of blood hit me before I reached the infirmary—metallic and sharp, mingled with the acrid smell of wolfsbane. My heart hammered against my ribs as I sprinted through the Shadowmoon Pack grounds, my healer's bag clutched tightly to my chest. "Mom!" I called out, bursting through the wooden doors of our modest healing center. The sight that greeted me froze my blood. My mother, Elara, lay on the examination table, her normally vibrant face ashen gray. Four deep gashes ran across her torso, the edges of the wounds tinged with an unnatural purple—the telltale sign of wolfsbane poisoning. "Aria," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "Rogues... ambush... near the eastern border." I pressed my trembling hands to her wounds, my training taking over despite my panic.

The monthly pack meeting hall buzzed with an energy I hadn't felt in months. Werewolves filled every seat, their conversations creating a low hum that seemed to vibrate through my bones. I sat in my designated chair beside Jackson's empty Alpha seat, my hands folded carefully in my lap, maintaining the composure my royal upbringing had drilled into me. Luna Mendoza rose from her place at the front table, her graying hair pulled back in its usual severe bun. The room fell silent immediately—her authority as the former Luna still commanded respect, even if mine had long since withered away. "Pack members of Silver Creek," she began, her voice carrying the formal weight of tradition. "Tonight, we address the future of our bloodline." My chest tightened. I knew that tone, had heard it in countless conversations where my name was whispered with disappointment. Where my failure as a Luna was dissected like a carcass. "As you all know, our pack has faced...

I had been waiting eight years for tonight. That sounds dramatic. Maybe it is. But when you spend eight years being the she-wolf who stays — who manages the pack calendar, smooths the territorial disputes, absorbs every small crisis before it reaches the Alpha's desk — you stop noticing the waiting. It becomes the shape of your days. You tell yourself that tonight is different. Tonight, the waiting ends. The ceremonial hall smelled of white cedar and melted wax. Someone had woven moonflowers through the archway above the altar — my idea, actually, though I hadn't told anyone that. The moonstone pendant sat in its velvet box at the center of the table, catching the candlelight.

Scrolling mindlessly through the pack's social media platform, I was on the brink of shutting it off when a single post caught my attention. My blood ran cold as my thumb hovered over the screen. The picture was harmless enough—a baby onesie laid out on a bed, surrounded by neatly folded blankets. But it was the caption that hit me like a silver bullet to the chest. "Thank you to my one and only for this incredible gift. I can’t wait to meet our pup." The post was signed with hearts, and Araceli’s name was tagged right underneath. For a moment, I couldn’t breathe. I read the words again and again, praying I was mistaken. The Delta, the smug, attention-seeking she wolf who had always hovered too close to my mate, was thanking him for the unborn child growing inside her. My mate—Luciano, the Alpha of this pack—was the only one it could possibly be. The air seemed to grow heavier as realization settled in. This wasn’t just a mistake. This wasn’t paranoia. This was betrayal, glaring at me from the screen. I pushed myself to my feet, the phone slipping from my trembling hand and hitting the floor with a dull thud. My heart pounded in my chest, each beat echoing the same thought over and over: He wouldn’t. He couldn’t. But he could. And he did.

On our seventh anniversary as mates, Alpha Gianni Marshall took me to a secluded mountain resort nestled deep within pack territory. The hot springs were said to be blessed by the Moon Goddess herself. I woke in the middle of the night to find the bed beside me empty. Meanwhile, Maeve Sanchez—his Delta secretary—posted an update on Instagram, tagged at the resort location: “Got picked up by a handsome Alpha.” The photo showed Maeve with her wet hair wrapped in a white towel, and a large, muscular hand gently drying her hair—the hand was unmistakably Gianni’s. A wave of nausea hit me as I commented beneath the post, “Casting a wide net these days, aren’t you? Don’t wear yourself out.” The entire night passed without Gianni returning, not even a mind link. I descended the mountain alone and returned to our pack estate—only to find it just as empty. By evening, as Gianni walked through the door, I was on the balcony consulting a pack lawyer. The pungent scent of Maeve’s overpowering perfume clung to him; she’d been steeped in that suffocating fragrance all day. I shut off my screen without turning to face him.

The pack house hummed with excitement, silver and moonstone decorations adorning every corner as preparations for tomorrow's mating ceremony reached their final stages. I ran my fingers over the delicate lace of my ceremonial Luna gown one last time before carefully hanging it in my wardrobe. The dress was everything I'd dreamed of—ivory silk embroidered with tiny moonstones that would catch the light as Alexander and I completed our bond under tomorrow night's full moon. My wolf, Willow, purred contentedly within me. *Soon we'll be officially bound to our mate forever,* she whispered in my mind. "Forever," I murmured aloud, a smile playing on my lips as I closed the wardrobe door. I crossed my private chamber, my bare feet silent against the polished wooden floor. The room smelled of the moonpetal flowers I'd arranged in crystal vases earlier—their sweet, delicate scent a traditional blessing for Luna-to-be. Alexander had always said he loved how I made our pack house feel like a true home. A flash of white on my writing desk caught my eye—an unmarked envelope that hadn't been there when I'd left to check on the ceremony preparations.
