After Raising His Secret Pup, I Rejected My Mate

I recently joined an online parenting group for werewolf mothers and came across a post that caught my attention: “Hello everyone, I’m the other woman, and I’ve had a pup with my mate. I don’t want to raise him. What should I do?” A response quickly followed: “If his Luna hasn’t had any pups, have your mate claim the pup was found in a rogue orphanage and let her raise him.” “You two can enjoy your lives together freely for a few years. Once the pup grows up, he can reject her.” “In the end, you’ll be the one who comes out on top.” My frown deepened as I read this, my fingers tightening around my phone. That evening, my mate Porter, a Delta of the Silver Moon Pack, returned home from his duties. I was just about to share the news of my pregnancy when he spoke up first, his voice tense. “We’ve been mated all these years without pups. Maybe we should consider adopting one?” My heart skipped a beat, the memory of the post flashing in my mind. I hesitated before responding, wanting to probe further. “Why don’t we give it another try?

Chapter 1

I recently joined an online parenting group for werewolf mothers and came across a post that caught my attention:

“Hello everyone, I’m the other woman, and I’ve had a pup with my mate. I don’t want to raise him. What should I do?”

A response quickly followed:

“If his Luna hasn’t had any pups, have your mate claim the pup was found in a rogue orphanage and let her raise him.”

“You two can enjoy your lives together freely for a few years. Once the pup grows up, he can reject her.”

“In the end, you’ll be the one who comes out on top.”

My frown deepened as I read this, my fingers tightening around my phone. That evening, my mate Porter, a Delta of the Silver Moon Pack, returned home from his duties.

I was just about to share the news of my pregnancy when he spoke up first, his voice tense.

“We’ve been mated all these years without pups. Maybe we should consider adopting one?”

My heart skipped a beat, the memory of the post flashing in my mind. I hesitated before responding, wanting to probe further.

“Why don’t we give it another try? I saw the healer today, and there’s still hope…”

“No need!” he cut me off, his tone sharp with frustration.

“We’ve been trying for years with no success; why would things change now?”

“And besides, my mother’s not getting any younger. She’s been dreaming of a grandpup forever, and you, as her daughter-in-law, don’t seem to care!”

I remained silent, my wolf stirring uneasily in the back of my mind. He slammed his fork down on the table, the sound echoing in the quiet room.

“What’s with the attitude? If you could have a pup, we wouldn’t even be discussing adoption!”

“At every pack gathering, they’re all fathers, and I’m the odd one out. It’s embarrassing.”

“I’m going away on a pack assignment soon, so we need to adopt this pup right away!”

I inwardly scoffed. If I hadn’t known he already had a pup with someone else, I might have believed him.

Seeing his desperation, everything started to make sense.

Before he could continue, I nodded calmly, masking the turmoil inside me.

“Okay, whatever you think is best.”

His stance relaxed slightly at my agreement, his shoulders dropping as if a weight had been lifted.

“Good to see you’re being sensible. I’ll bring the pup home tomorrow.”

The morning air carried whispers that cut deeper than any claw. I stood at the edge of the Silverstone Pack's eastern boundary, my fingers absently tracing the Luna pendant at my throat as I overheard two Delta wolves speaking in hushed tones during the territorial patrol. "Have you seen how Alpha James looks at her?" The younger one, Tara, glanced around nervously before continuing. "The way he cleared his schedule yesterday just because Liliana mentioned wanting to see the northern ridge?" "Twice this week he's canceled pack meetings to meet with her privately," the older wolf, Marcus, added. "And did you notice how he wore that silver cufflink she gifted him? Never seen him wear anything but pack insignia before." My chest tightened, but I kept my expression neutral as I approached them. Eight years as Luna had taught me to wear a mask of calm even as my inner wolf, Nova, stirred restlessly within me. "Luna Nia," they both straightened immediately, heads bowing slightly. "We were just—" "Discussing pack security, I hope," I said, my voice carrying the subtle weight of my position without resorting to Luna command. "The eastern border has been vulnerable since the last full moon." "Yes, Luna," they replied in unison, but I caught the flicker of guilt in their eyes.

The auction hall buzzed with excitement as pack members gathered for the monthly Silvermoon Pack auction. I sat beside Hudson, my hand resting protectively over my swollen belly, trying to ignore the life-sized anatomical model he'd insisted on bringing to our den last week. The bidding had been going on for nearly an hour, but Hudson's attention had been fixed on one particular lot - a collection of vintage medical equipment from an old pack healer's estate. "Fifty thousand," Hudson called out, his voice cutting through the murmurs of the crowd. I grabbed his arm, whispering urgently, "Hudson, please. That's too much. We can't afford this." He shook me off without even looking at me. "It's a necessary investment for the pack's medical training. You wouldn't understand." "Forty-eight thousand going once," the auctioneer announced. "Do I hear fifty thousand?" "Going twice..." "Sixty thousand!" Hudson shouted, standing up now, his eyes gleaming with an intensity that made my stomach clench.

Weston rescued me from the rogue territory, claiming he felt an instant connection the moment he caught my scent. He begged his adoptive father to let him take me back to the southern pack lands and make me his mate. On the way to meet his father, he warned me in a low voice, "The Alpha is ruthless and difficult to get along with." He told me how the man, in his quest for power, had even sent his own mate to the Lycan King's court as a political maneuver. When he later led a rebellion and succeeded, he was informed that his mate had died in the northern territories, her grave long overgrown. "The Alpha didn't shed a single tear," Weston said, shaking his head. "Yet he knelt before her grave and performed the marking ceremony posthumously." As Weston spoke, I felt my hands begin to tremble. I forced a weak smile and asked, "May I know your father's name?" Weston seemed surprised that I dared to ask such a question directly. Then he chuckled understandingly. "You've been recovering in the wilderness for so long, it's no wonder you're unaware of current events." He explained that the pack leadership had changed hands in recent years, and his adoptive father was the second son of the once prominent Red Fang Pack, now the new Alpha. Leaning closer, Weston whispered in my ear, "His name is Archer Medina." Archer Medina.

The monthly pack meeting hall buzzed with an energy I hadn't felt in months. Werewolves filled every seat, their conversations creating a low hum that seemed to vibrate through my bones. I sat in my designated chair beside Jackson's empty Alpha seat, my hands folded carefully in my lap, maintaining the composure my royal upbringing had drilled into me. Luna Mendoza rose from her place at the front table, her graying hair pulled back in its usual severe bun. The room fell silent immediately—her authority as the former Luna still commanded respect, even if mine had long since withered away. "Pack members of Silver Creek," she began, her voice carrying the formal weight of tradition. "Tonight, we address the future of our bloodline." My chest tightened. I knew that tone, had heard it in countless conversations where my name was whispered with disappointment. Where my failure as a Luna was dissected like a carcass. "As you all know, our pack has faced...

I was the Luna of Silver Lake, yet I spent my mornings cooking eggs for my Alpha mate while his mistress, Keyla, sat in my rightful seat. I endured the humiliation for the sake of the bond, until the day my mother found Keyla poisoning the pack's water supply. To hide her crime, Keyla murdered my mother in cold blood. I screamed for justice, begging Garrison to open his eyes. But he didn't look at the evidence. He looked at the merger Keyla’s father offered. "She's hysterical," he told the guards, stepping over my mother's body to protect his mistress. To seal their alliance, he dragged me to the Great Hall and publicly rejected me, severing our soul-bond to sell me off to a sadistic Alpha for mining rights. He expected me to beg. He expected the weak, bloodline-cursed Omega to crumble. Instead, I accepted the rejection with a smile. That night, I drank a potion to erase my scent and threw myself into the storm, faking my death. Garrison thinks I’m a corpse at the bottom of a cliff, and rumors say he’s finally drowning in regret. He has no idea that the pain didn't kill me. It triggered the ancient, legendary blood of the White Wolf. Now, standing on the ridge with a Rogue mercenary army, I’m no longer the wife who cooks breakfast. I’m the monster at his gates, and I won't stop until his entire world is ash.
