After My Mate Chose the Omega

Three years. Three long years I'd spent on the borders, building alliances with rogue rehabilitation programs, expanding our pack's reach and reputation. All for him. All for us. The wind whipped my hair as I stood at the edge of Black Moon territory, breathing in the familiar scent of pine and wild jasmine that had always meant home. My wolf, Sable, stirred within me. *We're finally back. He'll be waiting.* 'I know,' I whispered, my hand instinctively pressing against my chest, where the mate bond hummed with anticipation. The main lodge came into view, its stone facade glowing amber in the setting sun. My heart quickened.

Chapter 1

Three years. Three long years I'd spent on the borders, building alliances with rogue rehabilitation programs, expanding our pack's reach and reputation. All for him. All for us. The wind whipped my hair as I stood at the edge of Black Moon territory, breathing in the familiar scent of pine and wild jasmine that had always meant home.

My wolf, Sable, stirred within me. *We're finally back. He'll be waiting.*

'I know,' I whispered, my hand instinctively pressing against my chest, where the mate bond hummed with anticipation.

The main lodge came into view, its stone facade glowing amber in the setting sun. My heart quickened. Tru would be there, waiting. The Alpha-in-training who'd held my heart since the moment our eyes met. The man I'd surrendered everything for.

I walked through the familiar corridors, nodding to pack members who greeted me with surprise and something else I couldn't quite place. Their eyes followed me with an odd mixture of pity and curiosity that made my skin prickle.

'Welcome back, Luna Elliot,' they murmured, but the title felt hollow in their mouths.

I reached the Luna suite—my sanctuary before I'd left. The door felt heavier than I remembered, and when I pushed it open, the world tilted beneath my feet.

The room was unrecognizable. Gone were the soft blues and greens I'd chosen, replaced by garish reds and golds that seemed to mock me with their brightness. The furniture was new, expensive, and tasteless. And there, lounging on what had been my bed, was Ila Ford.

The young Omega intern wore one of my silk robes—the one Tru had given me on our first anniversary—and her fingers traced lazy patterns on the fabric as she looked up with feigned surprise.

'Luna Elliot!' she gasped, but there was no warmth in her voice, only a brittle edge of triumph. 'We weren't expecting you until tomorrow. You should have warned us. You've caught me in your old things.'

My throat tightened. Those 'old things' were still mine. The room was still mine. The life she was wearing like a costume was still mine.

Before I could respond, heavy footsteps echoed in the hallway. Tru appeared in the doorway, his broad shoulders blocking the light. For a moment, our eyes met, and I searched desperately for the warmth, the love, the recognition of a mate who'd missed me.

There was nothing.

'Elliot,' he said, his voice flat. No embrace. No kiss. Just my name, spoken like an obligation. 'You're back early.'

'Tru,' I managed, my voice barely above a whisper. 'What is she doing here? In our suite?'

His expression hardened. 'I was coming to speak with you about that.' He stepped closer, and I caught a scent on him that made my stomach lurch—Ila's scent, sweet and cloying, all over him. 'Ila is pregnant with my pup.'

The words hit me like a physical blow. I staggered back, my hand flying to my chest where the mate bond twisted like a knife.

'Pregnant?' The word came out strangled. 'But we're mates. You're my—'

'I know what I am,' he cut me off, his voice taking on the unmistakable resonance of an Alpha command. 'And I know what you need to do. Ila is delicate. The pregnancy is high-risk. She needs calm, stability, and the best care.'

His meaning became clear with sickening clarity.

'You want me to step down as Luna,' I said, each word feeling like glass in my mouth.

'It's for the good of the pack,' he replied smoothly. 'And your healing abilities would be better used helping Ila through this difficult time.'

The mate bond pulsed, sending waves of nausea through me. This couldn't be happening. Not after everything I'd sacrificed. Not after three years of devotion.

I pressed my thumb hard against my wrist, grounding myself against the storm of emotions. Looking at Tru—really looking at him—I saw something I'd been too blind to see before. The practiced authority in his stance, the calculated manipulation in his eyes.

He thought I was weak. He thought I would break.

'I see,' I said quietly, my voice steadier than I felt. Without another word, I turned and walked away, leaving him and his pregnant Omega in the suite that used to be mine.

I found a small guest room at the far end of the lodge and closed the door behind me. Only then did I allow myself to feel the full weight of the betrayal, as the mate bond I'd cherished for so long began to fracture in my chest.

I woke up on New Year's Day the way I had for the past ten years: five minutes before my alarm, already mentally sorting through the pack's annual run logistics. The winter sun wasn't up yet, and the pack house was still quiet in that particular way that meant everyone else was sleeping off last night's celebration. I hadn't attended. Someone needed to make sure the kitchens were prepped for the post-run breakfast, and that someone was always me. I was halfway through my morning routine—hair braided back, running clothes laid out, mental checklist cycling through supply counts and route confirmations—when the static hit. It wasn't painful, exactly. More like a sudden absence, the way your ears feel when a pressure shifts. I pressed my thumb against the inside of my wrist, steadying myself against the bathroom counter, and reached for the pack's elite mind-link chat. The one reserved for the Alpha, Luna, Beta, and Gamma. The one I'd been part of since the day Wesley marked me.

Everyone in the Silver Crescent Pack knew. Everett Myers, our Alpha, was completely devoted to Maggie Crawford, the young Omega he had mentored over the years. As for me, his Luna and mate, I was merely a facade. At what should have been the ninth anniversary celebration of our mate bond, the screen intended to show our marking ceremony photos instead displayed moments of Everett's joyful times with Maggie over the years—their first time holding hands, their first kiss... In the final sequence, Maggie appeared, scantily dressed, her eyes glistening with tears, like a fragile lily swaying in the breeze. "Alpha, I'm sorry. I can't forget you, and I can't watch you stay with someone you don’t love." "I've taken something to, you know, make myself need you... If you're not here by midnight..." The video hadn’t finished playing when Everett, usually so composed, shifted into his wolf form and raced out of the venue like he had lost his mind, just as he had done on previous occasions, leaving me alone in the grand pack hall. The whispers of the pack members buzzed around me, their pity and judgment palpable. They were all betting on when our tenth ceremony would be.

My Alpha's Seven-Night Betrayal Novel Cover

My mate, Russell Simmons, Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack, invited me to his seaside villa for a getaway with his childhood friend, Sunny Parker, a Gamma from the rival Silver Fang Pack, and the Warren brothers—Leonard, Jayden, and Kyree, Deltas in the Lycan Prince’s guard. For seven nights, I was wrapped in his arms, thinking it was a reconciliatory gesture after our big spat when Sunny returned from abroad a month ago. Despite her insistence on avoiding the mate bond, she demanded that my mate help her have a child. Our fight left Russell ignoring me, but now I thought things were finally getting back to normal. A month later, I discovered I was pregnant and excitedly rushed to share the news with him, only to confront a group chat on his computer in his study. Sunny had posted a disgusted emoji, saying, "A whole month and there’s no sign of a baby bump on her. What’s wrong with you three brothers?" Leonard replied, "We took turns with her for seven days; she should have conceived by now. Besides, Sunny and Russell had fun too, didn’t you? Why isn’t your belly showing anything?" Russell’s response was, "Sunny and I have all the time in the world; she’ll get pregnant eventually. As for you guys, should I arrange another go?" Jayden’s message read, "Gracelynn’s sweet voice still haunts me.
